I just..Would never listen to Rap or RNB ever.

A few RNB maybe. But..never Rap. That is what I hate in it, the drug refferences and how woman are nothing but sex objects..-_-;;

offbeat genius
I'm going to live in this thread.

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs

Blues/Jazz Americana with a little latin/italian dance sound.

I really really really like Tom Waits. This song makes me wish my life was more interesting. It gives you images of old time gangsters sipping wine before going out for the big hit. You can pretty much picture some dodgy deals going on.

And that post reminded me. Back in some indie rock board I used to frequent we had a thread where we really showed off our balls. It was kind of a musical truth or dare. You'd have to post your random playlist, no cheating and just hope you wouldn't get anything that was terribly embarassing.

2 other guilds I'm in have a similar thread.
Here are 10 random ones of mine:

Allan Sherman- The Rebel
OPM- Better Daze
Loverboy- The Kid Is Hot Tonight
Bosco TV Jingle
Jim Carrey- Standup from Comic Relief, the year of the LA riots
Northwest Royale- Bite The Bit
Bloodhound Gang- Why's Everybody Always Pickin' On Me?
The Mad Capsule Markets- MIDI Surf
Mad Cow & the Royal Eurobeat Orchestra of Bazookistan- Discow Moscow
E-Rotic- Max, Don't Have Sex With your Ex

xd I was thinking the same thing. I hate people who are like "RAP IS JUST PEOPLE COMPLAINING - I like ____" and whatever they listen to isn't any better.

It's actually odd that people don't put that much thought into the music they are listening to..I tend to do the same as offbeat, imagine the setting it was taken place in. Mostly the reason why I don't watch the music videos.

Does anyone seem to ask the question ''Why is she/he singing this..?'' or ''What's driving him/her?''..

I think Im a music Junkie. blaugh

Maybe we should have something of the same thread offbeat? xd

I do the same thing, and I really don't watch many music videos either. Sometimes I tend to create one in my head.

And I ask those questions too, somethimes. I mostly do it when I don't think the musician could've had an experience close to it. Most of my music isn't really emoting, but stories and I always wonder what was the story behind the song, and if it was as interesting as the song.

(Thank the Gods for Mr Wait's Storytellers album. I was very happy to hear the story behind Chocolate Jesus.

(also a music junkie, and feels like she's responding like this conversation is a form.)

Oh, and my usual contribution.

Current music: The Faint - Take me to the hospital.

Eighties synth revival crap.

It's summed up perfectly in one lyric, "Anything worth doing's worth getting hurt for."

This song should be the anthem of rugby games everywhere.

And, of course, twenty from my random:

1. 07 pan american - st. cloud.mp3
2. Billie Holiday (Tricky) Strange Fruit (Verve Remixed).mp3
3. the walkmen - 12-rue the day.mp3
4. buena vista social club - A caballo vamos.mp3
5. the walkmen - 02 - wake up.mp3
6. 07 Earth Died Screaming.mp3
7. 18.fallin' ditch (2:0 cool
8. 10 those to come.mp3
9. jewel - pieces of you - 07 - morning song.mp3
10. The Clash - Capital Radio One (2:10)
11. 06-xiu xiu-sad redux-o-grapher-sge.mp3
12. tom waits - big time - 07 - way down in the hole.mp3
13. Tom Waits - Closing Time - 04 - Old shoes (&picture postcards).mp3
14. 01 - naked in the city again.mp3
15. Foo Fighters- The One.mp3
17. The Beatles - Track13 (2:30)
18. 03 MOTHER NATURE'S SON.mp3
19. 02 - please sing my spring reverb.mp3
20. 06 THE CONTINUING STORY OF BUNGALOW BILL.mp3
21. Tom Waits & Frank Zappa - The 12 Inches (live).mp3

(Oh, and what I edited out wasn't an actual song, but a Russian language course that shouldn't belong there, and I'm well aware that my songs are terribly disjointed and I need to fix that. I'll be fixing my album collection soon. I know you don't know who sung Naked in the city again, or what beatles track that is.)

My favourtie songs are always the ones which I can relate to at a very personal level. I'd learn to love it either way, back in the day, I used to heart all Evanessences tracks, but now..I can't relate to them much anymore and listen to the more rising to glory tunes. Since that's the direction Im heading in..Or aiming for. 3nodding

Music Junkie Pride. cool heart

Opeth - Departure Plan.

Rock/Metal, no screaming at all in this one. whee

It's about grabbing someone and taking them to the top with you..The little sarifices that you'd make for them etc.

I think I've done a good job with the thread..If things go well, might make a banner for it. whee

Ah. Disjointed tracks. How do you enjoy your music? Randomised, or categoriesed.

You can tell simply loads from what people listen to. 3nodding

N.E.R.D. - She Wants To Move.
Genre - General Hip Hop
Makes Me Feel - Like knocking the s**t out of some p***k that has taken a decent woman and turned her into a slut/forces her to do s**t. biggrin

Hmm... not so good on what affect music has on society. :\ If people listen to a song that talks about teens should rebel or some s**t like that, and they do, well, music influences them too much. neutral

Tch

You just want to make yours "Official"

Music doesn't affect kids, the musicians do.

I wouldn't know much about the influences of music, that's why I did ask and wanted to see the oppinions of people on what music does.

I see that music doesn't affect Teens the extent that they will blindly listen to the song..They'd just try to live up to it and such. It's really a good/bad thing at times..

Legend of Mana - City of flickering destruction.

Being official is not a bad thing now, is it? sweatdrop

Wait a minute now, you're stereotyping. gonk

Yes, most of the mainstream s**t and OMGWTF CRUNK LOLZ s**t make those sort of references. neutral If you'd listen to some /good/ Rap or R&B, you'd know some of them don't treat women like objects, or only talk about drugs. D: Some are like romantics, and are anti-drugs. x.o And it isn't just Rab and R&B that mainly do this. ><

I'm off somewhere else now. domokun

Rap and RNB are the main ones that do it and I was talking about the majority of the collection, not looking at it in detail at all. I still respect the decent ones and I really have nothing against them..I just don't listen to it since it doesn't hit my fancy. sweatdrop
