Ok, let me rephrase:" Anybody who's not like that crazy rambling drunken hobo on the street corner doesn't actually treat Halloween like it's a religious holiday any more." xp Only ridiculous extreme stupid people still go around "It's an evil day! Ye shall all be smited if you dress up to go get candy!"

Hehehe, I did think that comercial was funny. I myself have come to hate diamonds in most circumstances due to what they've come to represent and be treated as by society. Really, people took a pretty sparkly thing which could also have many practical uses and turned it into an obligaton and something that's a very expensive way to cheap out emotionally. It could be put to use in machinery to build the hospital that could save your life one day, instead you're nagging that guy to put it on your finger to show off to your friends and family or "he doesn't love you." And then from that point on, being seen as what was neccesary to placate once, it's now used as the easiest way to manipulate later on. Want her to do something? Make her mad and want to get forgiven as easily as possible? or as one comedian pointed out, just want to make her shut up? DIAMONDS! The answer to your problems! Not only that, but the SIZE and NUMBER of the diamonds counts too. If it's not big enough, it's not good enough........ gonk
Ha ha... well I will try to muster up courage to steal some candy from the kids... yes yes...

True true... sad thing is that we kind of know how to manufacture diamonds these days... But I will say that I like shiney stuff... it is sad though..... hmmmm well I will not be buying any diamonds...unless I am going to create some evil destructive thing... twisted I will never buy one either... and any female that insists I should get one I will be sure to mess with her head before I leave her. 3nodding

Sounds like a good plan. xd

And I know. That's another stupid point--they'll freak out if they know it's a man made diamond. Again, it's "not good enough." They're not jewlers and they don't know any so wuldn't find out if they weren't told, but still people are stupid enough to buy into the "it has to be natural!" thing. You like shiny things, you got a shiney thing- does it really matter where it comes from if it looks the same? gonk

Indeed.... people are crazy... the fake ones are cheaper too... the sad thing though is that even if you buy a fake one and plan on not telling your siginficant other female... she will still ask... because she just HAS to know... it is SOOO annoying stare I mean seriously what is love to people? I mean other than sex and expensive shiny things and reproduction.

I know! it's like you got what you wanted for cheap, why are you looking that good deal gift-horse in the mouth? Why would you even care? the fancy shiny ring isn't supposed to matter that much. And if it DOES matter that much, your relationship has much bigger problems then what the ring is.

heh; me and my girl are expecting...to meet this summer for the first time ever. and that's all we will EVER be expecting. She supports my eventual vasectomy and would abort in case of an accident. biggrin I hate the term "expecting" to the way breeders use it. It should be "dreading."

That sucks though man! Yeah, like someone said, get the larva an annoying gift so that they make you stop coming to these get togethers. Or feign illness. Or get actual illness...(tosses you a beaker of Polio virus). Just in case things get really bad wink .
So good luck with everything.

Yes we all need to band together to make them realize that expecting is just a verb you need to be expecting something.

Yes, "expecting" is a word that requires things to follow it. You can't just be "expecting." It's just like people who try to use the word "because" as an answer all by itself. Stop bastardizing the English language you hypocrites who keep complaining about people bastardizing the English language.
