Wanted by many, he commands a large group of mercenaries that spend every moment of their lives hunting elves of any kind. He could have easily killed Kahlan if he had tried, but held back because she was half human.

Kahlan made it back to camp and retrieved her equipment. After everything was set, she headed to meet Valery. Along the way, she couldn't help but think about the man from the creek.
Hmmph....men are such idiots...
Eventually, Kahlan met up with Valery. She exhaled.
Ah...I feel refreshed, Val...you should go take a bath as well...it looks like you need it...
Kahlan thought for a second.
Oh! I didn't mean it in a bad way! I just meant, you should take some time to relax and enjoy yourself! I'll even keep watch! What do you say?
She smiled that special smile that she only gave Valery.

Valery shook her head to Mollie's question, "No, I am fine thank you." She looked up and smiled when Kahlan came in, and throughout Kahlan's words, it never faltered. When she was finished she nodded, and said, "Perhaps I will."

Kahlan took Valery by the hand and led her to the creek. When they arrived, she looked around, surveying the area. She could tell Valery was wondering why she was looking around, so she answered.
There was a pervert out here earlier. He watched me take a bath the whole time. I would have killed him, but all I saw was you, so I didn't. If he is smart, he won't be coming back anytime soon...
She looked at Valery.
Okay, it's safe. Go ahead and take a bath. I'll stand right here and keep watch. Hopefully I won't have to kill anyone...

Ria nodded, and silently removed her cloak, and tunic. She had other clothes folded within her cloak, along with other things. She slipped silently into the coll water of the creek, the only thing remaining on her was a gold chained neckalce, with a diamond hanging from the end. Settling in the water of the creek, she clsoed her eyes and allowed herself to relax.

Kahlan waited quietly in the distance, when she had a fun idea. An idea that they had used many times when they were kids. Quietly she removed her armor and clothing and slipped into the water. Slowly, she approached Valery from behind, raised her arms over her head then suddenly dunked Valery's head in the water. She laughed as Valery came to the surface.
Hahaha! Got ya, Val!
Kahlan hadn't laughed in a long time. She put on a very serious face and looked Valery in the eyes. She taunted her.
Think you still got what it takes to take me on in a water battle?
She dove for Valery, attempting to dunk her again.

Valery giggled, and dodged out of the way, then dissapeared under the surface. Moving around behind Kahlan, she splashed her, then attempted to dunk her as well. "Take that!!"

Kahlan was having fun. "Boy, it's been forever since I've had this much fun! Always so busy protecting Valery, we never get to have any fun!" Kahlan dodged Valery's attempt to dunk her and jumped on Valery, wrapping her legs around Valery's neck and getting a somewhat 'piggy-back ride'. Shockingly, Valery was able to withstand Kahlan on her shoulders. Quickly lifting her legs, she dunked Valery into the water. when she came up, Kahlan laughed.
We haven't had this much fun in a long time, Val! I forgot how good it feels to fool around!
Kahlan sighed, then embraced Valery.
I just wish we could play all the time...
It felt good; Kahlan's skin against Valery's. It was comforting. Kahlan had never had such a loyal and trustworthy friend. As a matter of fact, Valery was her only friend!
Please, Val...promise me...promise me you'll never leave me...

Valery smiled, and returned the embrace, "You now I shall never leave you my friend." When it came to friends, they weren't much different-when Valery's mother died, she had locked herself in her room, refusing to come out, let alone talk to anyone. She had never had any real friends besides Kahlan, and any others that could have been considered friends at the time of her mother's death were lost because of her hiding herself from others.
