I thought it was pretty clear since he said "step parent/guardian" sweatdrop
@Faeyas: I happen to agree with your senator. confused The courts -do- have too much power; Congress is who is supposed to be making laws, not the Supreme Court. Congress is the one who makes amendments to the constitution, the Supreme Court shouldn't have the right to make up rights like the "right to privacy."
Now, the Supreme Court is supposed to have power, of course; Checks and balances. But they are supposed to -interperet- law, not create it.

I am sorry to report this, but while I had thought that the bill had passed, apparently not, it has been killed off by a procedural measure. Apparently Democrats blocked to from going to committe to have the two versions of the bill reconciled, and when it came up for a re-vote, enough democrats switched over to be able to filibuster it.

such a cheap tactic.
Looks good for us in the house and senate though. I've heard that there's a good chance of gettin that partial birth abortion ban passed this time, wich would make it very difficult to get a second trimester abortion.
it's not much, but it's a step in the right direction if it gets passed.
anybody know what's going in in Dakota by the way?

In Dakota, things arnt lookign to hot. The people want it ousted because it makes no exception for rape or mothers health...all health, physical and mental.
Mental health of the mother is not a good argument for those who want to eventualy stop abortion. Be they for life or abortion. All a woman has to do is act only a slightly bit crazed and, guess what, abortion approved

i'll agree, and really, there needs to be some exceptions for the life of the mother. If there are none, then i think the bill needs some revision too before it gets passed, but i hope some form of it does.
makes that state look like a good place to live. Well, Better then NY. Someone really needs to do something about our Hillary problem...

New York's "Hilary Problem" is probably going to be the whole nation's problem when she wins presidency.

i really doubt she'd win if she ran. More conservatives would turn out to vote against her then ever before, but she's still doing a shitty job in New York, and that's a serious pain in my a**.
We're finally getting rid of our governor though. Hopefully his replacment is better then he was.

I honostly think mental cases like that shouldn't be having sex in the first place, but thats just me, and its not my place to interupt free wil when (in the current situation) a human life isn't being threatened. And I wouldn't agree with you. Sever and speacialised counceling should be used before ever concidering to allow an abortion.

Sure, but look at it from our point of view; The thousands who die because their mother has no problem with lying or paying off a psychiatrist to say that she's mentally ill, or the dozen who die because the woman would actually kill herself over this? Hate to get cold and calculating, but in the end, that's what it comes down to.

I'm going to guess that you're trying to accuse me of only caring about the fetal lives? That would be an incorrect assumption on your part. Thousands of fetal lives v. Dozens of mother and child lives. Assuming they are of equal value, the choice is obvious, and does not require me to care more about fetal lives then about born lives. The opposite, however, is true. If you support the dozens of mother and child lives rather then the thousands of fetal lives, you obviously have a serious bias towards born lives. I realize that is all part of being Pro-Choice, but it is true nonetheless.
