hi-mi-tsu Well, I'm Sarah (or hi-mi-tsu or himi-chan or whatever ^^) and I'm seventeen. I'm a Southern Baptist, but I'm very liberal in my views and I really don't like some of the things my church teaches. However, in terms of acceptance, the church that I attend is really good at reaching out to the community and trying to help those in need, which I really like. <3 Um...as for what I like? I love to read (probably far more than is healthy) and write poetry, songs, stories-you name it, I probably write it XD. Except poetry that rhymes...I'm horrid at that. Right now I'm working on a novel. I really hate the way that Christianity in general is being negatively portrayed through Bush and his policies; I think that he's twisting God's Word so that it fulfills what he wants it to and I agree with what I heard someone else say: If it's a sin to take God's name in vain and a sin to make laws that conflict with God's laws, then Bush is sure deliberately committing a lot of sins. We are all sinners, of course...but I really disagree with what he's doing lately. Welcome!

Hello, everyone.
I am a 23-year old Buddhist who is currently looking into the teachings of the Christ. What he has to say is very interesting and I agree with, especially, his Sermon on the Mount. I am currently a Canadian University Student majoring in Japanese.

We have two new members... I just accepted their requests. To them I say, welcome, and sorry I didn't get to your requests sooner. I've been very busy... working out of town for the last two weeks, so I've just been on my computer at sporadic intervals. I haven't even checked my e-mail. *shudders to think how much there will be.*

Religion: Nothing. I have heard way too many histories and stories behind Christianity to really become interested. And considering that many Christians (not all) that I know, dislike the way that I was born, that has given me more reason behind not being as such. Two of my friends are Wiccan and that seems like something I would be interested in. It isn't a discriminatory religion. Not as those who I know like to show Christianity as. Though I am always willing to learn. ^^
Now, just to know, I am someone who does not mind speaking his mind. I can have a rather sharp tongue when it comes to certain topics. But all in all, I tend to keep away from flaming someone. ^^
Anything else that is wished to know of me (other than my real name x.x) can just be asked. ^^ I've always been one to answer questions rather than ask. *Which is probably why I almost failed a class last year. Never asked a question when I should have x.x"*

We have a few members here with "sharp tongues." Also, I would wager a guess that Christianity has been misrepresented to you. The way you were born should not matter. What matters now is the person you have become, and it sounds like you have grown into a very caring and intelligent person. smile That last sentence made me blush. BAD! xd sweatdrop Anyway, living in the south, yes, very misrepresented. In my family, the one grandmother that isn't blood related to me, actually accepts me for who I am. One was disowned for her hateful comments that she made apparently "in the Lord" and the one I am living with seems rather disappointed with me. She always says "I can't wait till you have a wife and kids and you have to take care of yourself out there in the world." I mean, come on. I have said it enough times. She couldn't very well forget it every single time. rolleyes She just doesn't like how I was born, and she as well as the disowned both believe that I made the choice. Actually, this one believes that it is just some phase. I'm OCD. I'd know if it was just a phase. Further, living in Gulf Shores, Alabama, that is not a choice anyone makes. 2% of the school is not white. Even further, I was THE only homosexual there. A couple bisexual, but I was the only one. Well, the only one that came out anyway. I was basically stupid to have done that in that high school. But I had friends that supported me and kept me safe (even though they don't know that. ^^") Well, if I can at least debate on some of the issues that have been brought up to me (mainly homosexuality in the Christian history) then I'll be just fine here. Many of the ones that I try to talk to just brush me off and say that I am just saying these things because I'm gay. I have a few friends that have noticed just the same as me. One of them couldn't be any more of a hetero. ^^" Anyway, I'll see if it's been brought up yet. If it hasn't, I may just make a thread on it. Hopefully won't have anyone like who you complained about in the Captain's guild. <.<"

For someone with OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder), they are basically uber perfectionists. Everything they do is a compulsion, and everything has to be perfect. However, they do not have the obsessive thoughts. It's just part of their personality to be perfect like that. He also has depression and two learning disabilities. Even with all of that, he is in college double majoring in Computer Science and Computational Math. He's REALLY good, and even WITH his disabilities, his IQ is still a 128. He's literally a genius when it comes to math. So, don't let anyone discourage you and/or put you down for your OCD. As for the homosexuality thing, I agree that many Christians mis-interpret that. I am part of the methodist church, which is kind of split on that particular issue. However, my pastors are very open-minded and accepting of it, and have even said so in sermons. I heart my church. biggrin

For someone with OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder), they are basically uber perfectionists. Everything they do is a compulsion, and everything has to be perfect. Religion: umm...I would say I am striving to be "Christian," ask if you want clarification.
Political Affliation: somewhere in the middle
Now, I am 20 years old and am currently attending Oklahoma State University where I am majoring in Literature/Religion with a minor in History/Foreign Languages with a Pre-Med option. Yes, that is a lot. I currently reject all forms of organized christianity and I am looking to start my own, eventually. Well, I have said enough for now I believe, I look forward to debating with all of you.

And welcome to the guild. smile Alright, here goes (deep breath) firstly I have tried to seperate myslef a little from the negative stigma associated with modern chirstianity. So, to understand what i was saying we most look at the word "christian:" Christ- in the sense of this word is speaking of Jesus and the -ian means "like," so the literal translation or defination of the word means Christ-like, which I mean most definitely not. Some of you will probably state that the word christian refers to use in our spiritual state after we have accepted Christ, now I will concede that this was most likely what was being referred to during the time the word was introduced, but todays christians and the church are much more materialistic and place a much greater emphasis on the physical. So, according to my definition of the word "christian" I like to say that I am "striving to be Christian" or "striving to be Christ-like or like Christ." I think I explained that pretty well, comment if you would like to, I would enjoy the input.
