Blessed Blade

PostPosted: Wed Nov 17, 2004 9:30 pm

He scowled angrily feeling the energy around him being drained. "s**t," he muttered, "all he has do is live of the vast energy my body exudes." He faltered, taking a step back; he wasn't prepared for this. He knew Dante could not actually do much to absorb and keep him, but after too long the energy his body was producing would more than be enough to give the creature enough power to escape.

He knew Dante could not actually do much to absorb and keep him, but after too long the energy his body was producing would more than be enough to give the creature enough power to escape.
Dante's grin widened, "Now he gets it... " He waved one clawed hand, and the opening that allowed acess to the cave closed in upon itself, leaving nothing but a nondescript impression in the cavern wall. Dante couldn't quite figure out this new being, and wouldn't be able to try out his new abilities on him, but he could use plenty of the old ones. He lunged for the Blade, claws extended towards the Mistik's throat. And although Dante had notyet regained a fraction of this strength, or his reality, in this realm, his attacks were very real. twisted

In demon form she scurries around the entrance crawling over the wasted bodies the Spleen Eater consumed. She searches for souls. "If he didn't eat them, where did they get to?" She doen't here the rumblings in the back due to her half-starved frenzy.

The Other glowered as she stepped into that dank abyss of nonesistence, and as with every trip to this realm, she felt her powers wain considerably before the Song could find her again. Dante had broken his bonds, and a considerably unique abberation walked the Earth. She still contemplated what she would do when she cnfronted the abberation, it would go against her natural instincts to keep it alive, but this was an unnatural place, with unnatural circumstances, in an unnatural time.

And sadly, only time could tell.

Ethen laughed as the creature reached him and his own body dissolved into smoke around the creatures attack, and reformed unmoved as the demon passed. He turned to face Dante and smirked. "Surely you didn't think that would work," he remarked as he drew his Asura, Silverstride.

Dante's grin merely widened mroe, if that were at all possible, as he fed off the expenditure of power required to perform any magic in this place. It was as if this nonexistant realm was designed to imprison him, and then serve him if he ever escaped. Dante smiled at the appearance of the weapon, So it intended to fight back? Good. And he launched into another flurry of claws and fangs.

The Mystik Lord stood still, his body simply evaporating around each attack. Were Dante not so deprived of his true powers it wouldn't be so easy to simply dissolve through his attacks. But at this rate, it would a very long time for Blade to give off enough energy for the creature to have anything to work with, especially with the Mystik's own degraded powers.

Dante frowned, this was quickly becoming tiresome... however, Dante noticed an Other enchanter, a fairly weak one, picking her way through the cavern. Dante licked his lips, large droplets of drool splattering to the ground. He shredded through the Blade again, who once again dissolved into smoke, but instead of continueing his onsalaught, Dante made a beeline for the Enchanter.

The Other had no warning, for Dante was not there in once heartbeat, and was ripping her apart in the next. He had his monstrous forearm elbow deep in her stomach, and was lecching away her power, her very life force.

To the wayward observer, it seemed that the Enchantress was somehow, fading away into nothingness, but the reality was much worse. Her entire being was being unraveled atom by atom, proton by electron, and the energy released by such miniature fission reactions was absorbed into Dante's skin, this was one of his new abilities, one of a few nasty tricks he had figred out the secrets to in his long imprisoment. His smiled broadended and his eyes narrowed in delight as his energy levels rose dramatically, enough now to enjoy some liberties not earlier aforded him, but not quite enough to bring him back to existence in any capacity, the life force of an Other enchanter was frail when you separated it from it's bong with the Song, and he had wanted the energy more than to aquire her ability to sing, such a skill seemed to insignificant to bother with.

He turned back to the Blade, and sent a bolt of destruction hurtling at well over the speed of sound directly at his head.

His keen sense good to him, he quickly sliced his sword through the thundrous attack; which probably wasn't the best plan. The energy erupted him around him blasting him back to the wall where rubble collapsed around him. He stood up a little charred, and while his reflexes didn't prevent injury completely as expected, the damage he sustained was still not too much more than minimal. "If he keeps doing things like that I'm not going to last long..."

"Good to know," Dante grins, assesing the damage done to Blade, wondering how much more of those it would take to be considered enough "things like that" Well, there's only one way to find out. he re-absorbed the enrgy t took to make the destructive ball, exhaling with the return of that morsel of power. Dante bounded towards Blade, but when he might have struck out with his claws, he instead unleashed a more devestating version of his earlier energy bomb, whereas the fist would have been enough to destroy a house or two, this one was capable of levelling a large village, maybe even a small township, and though it was deadlier, it cost Dante that much more to create.

Having learned from his mistake the first time, Blade faded black, then dissappeared as the blast made a large crater in the cave wall. He reappeared a distance away.

"What am I going to do?!" he asked himself over and over again. His usually composure was dissappearing quickly as he thought to himself. "I can't let him escape... I can't let him win... But there's no way I can win against that... and what will happen. There's nothing I can do but wait..." He stared angrily at the beast's back and readied his sword for an attack.
"We'll just see how long I can last... that's all I can do..." he said quietly.

The Beast allowed himself a chuckle as he spun and delivered another ball of death where the Blade had materialized only split seconds before. this one was relatively weaker than the one preceeding it, but was still sufficiently destructive in it's own right.

Blade's eyes widened as he prepared to teleport again, but the blade in his hands began to glow a translucent Red. Vengeance, it's voice moaned forth. As the blast approached, controlling itself, Silverstride sliced the bolt in two, sending identical explosions to either side of the warrior, and leaving him completely unaffected.

"Oh? what's this?" Dante frowned, stading motionless, his posture relaxed, head tilted slightly to the side, clawed hands unclenched. It was the Blade's move in thier little game, and Dante didn't want to spoil whatever the Blade had in mind.

Well, that and the fact it was easier to absorb the lost energy by standing still.
