Regardless if they (r/hr) were friends or not.
You don't have to be someones friend to respect them, you don't even have to like them. To the Ron and Hermione are friends and they don't even respect each other.
There are 3 main things that make up a 'Good' relationship.
Love, Trust, & Respect.
There are 2 missing from that, in R/Hr coupling.
Like they always say 'Love isn't always enough.'

Exactly. R/Hr tolerate each other at best. The only thing keeping them as friends is Harry (unlike JKR who thinks Ron of all people hold the trio together. How the heck she came up with that is beyond me). R/Hr contradict everything that is said in the bible about love. If R/Hr were in a relationship in reality (and I'm afraid it has happened in the epilogue), they would both be in an abusive relationship heading toward divorce.

Ron... the one holding the trio together?? Did I miss something here? The only books I read where PoA and GoF, but even I'm skeptical... But I'm sure none of the sort happened from SS/PS that shows even remotely that Ron is the center. Dude... Just... God.

Two things should be noted here:
1. JKR doesn't reread her own books.
2. JKR should have just called the series "The Weasley Chronicles" since everything seems to revolve around that family anyway. (I love those brilliant minds of HF for coming up with this!)
Another thing:
You're absolutely right dear. It was HARRY and not RON who went after Hermione. If it wasn't for Harry's urging, Ron would have simply walked back to the commons room.

Deadly Hallows, as far as I know, is now being renamed as Deadly Shallows which fits quite well actually.
Well, this is JKR first series so we can't really go as far as to call her a professional. If JKR had published other works before this, then I would consider her a professional in the business. People sort of forget to look beyond the HP hype and actually analyze the books in a literary view. JKR has gotten so much slack over the years that now that the series is finished, the critics can really get down to work.

I don't think it to do with age or maturity, just how good a perception of things you have, especially in the romance area. I'm 13, thought Hr/R was obvious from book since I was 8, and have shipped H/Hr since I was 8.
