I've felt the need to watch this old b&w French film of the tale.
I broke out my old handheld game of Beauty and the Beast to play the other night. It took less than 10 minutes to beat the whole thing. xd
One of my favorite of the keychains in KH was that Divine Rose.

Nightmare1 Kitoku Hime Nightmare1 Harls and I have a friend who is as obsessed with Beauty and the Beast as I am with The Nightmare Before Christmas. I, myself, think it is a masterpiece, and well worth her fascination. I agree, it is a masterpiece. It deserves its status as first animated film nominated for 'best picture' every bit. As far as obsession goes...heehee. I was just telling The Heat the other day, I know someone who was beyond obsessed. He wanted to be beast on broadway, and he always wore a lanyard filled with beast pins...I mean, he wore it EVERYWHERE. He wound up stuffing maxi pads in his socks to make himself tall enough to be *ahem* very, very close to the beast. In the end, he wound up getting blacklisted from disneyworld for, um, theft. of the penultimate beastly item. [ He stole the beast costume and displayed it in his living room as a conversation piece. ] ...That is obsessive. Oh my gosh, I thought BlondeBelle2 (that's her username in case ya didn't know) was obsessed!

The animation was some of the most realistic cell-animated animation I had ever seen before.

Nightmare1 The animation was some of the most realistic cell-animated animation I had ever seen before. true, that. Watching it recently, I heaved a sorrowful sigh and wondered how computer-generated animation could ever possibly hold a candle to some of the beauty in that movie.

It cannot. I was disappointed to learn that hand drawn animation may not be in the Disney field when I got that far. Thus, this killed one dream...however, that leaves Batman comics open...

OMG, this is going to be an incredibly long post, but I absolutely adore BATB. It was my fave movie when I was a little girl (still is, btw), and I had this froufy yellow dress that looked like a little girl's version of belle's ball gown that I wore almost every sunday to church. I actually managed to watch the movie so many times that it wore through. I cried. Fortunately, I found another VHS copy at a flea market. I dragged my entire family to the musical production at our local theater this past summer (I'm almost 18, for your info, not a little kid), and I thought it was incredible. I can sing the whole soundtrack verbatim, I have a christmas tree dedicated to BATB, I dragged my father halfway across epcot two summers ago to get my picture taken with Belle and Beast. Anyway, to my point: I really see BATB as the story of my life. I'm a smart, bookish girl who's lived in a small town all her life and always dreamed of more. I've been hounded for a couple of years by my own "boorish, brainless Gaston", and for the past three years, I have been deeply in love with a boy who started out as a "Beast" and with love and understanding became my prince charming. Fave Lyric: "One passion, one dream, one thing forever true: I love you!"

Yeah, I like this movie, but it's not my fave. Hehe Belle loves to read!! Same as me! But I probably don't enjoy reading as much as her though....

hmmm what name would best fit the 'beast'? I absolutely love this movie and think it's a cute story. I've read a few fanfics that have the whole beauty and the beast idea in it. I've always wanted to be belle, but it irkes me that the 'beast' doesn't have a name.

The Bijoux Who here likes Beauty and the Beast? I really like this movie. It has great music and songs, and the characters so well done. I just love it! I know every line and song to this movie from beginning to end, including the special edition song.
