lymelady Because obviously if you ignore the problem, it goes away, if you let them know they've got a knife, they'll say, Oops, didn't realize that, and if they get WMDs and blow us all up, we'll be dead and won't care. rolleyes I'm being sarcastic. In case it wasn't obvious. I was hoping you'd post because you know what you're talking about... redface Thanks... Heh. Quote: ... and I don't know what I"m talking about anymore..... Eh, of course Iraq had to be taken care of. I keep thinking that. I just dunno how to explain. Mm, course, everyone's just gonna say there's terrorism going on in other parts of the world too and why start in Iraq....but I guess you need to start somewhere because otherwise you'll never start. Wow, now I"m talking to myself, sorry, I'll shut up. It didn't just start in Iraq or Afghanistan, though. My Dad was stationed at Guam with his B-1 squadron, in great part as a message to the North Vietnamese: I know you are trying to goad us, but whether you are pulling our strings or not about those nukes you seem to have, I'm not playing. And there are US military bases all over. Just because Iraq is the only place we've invaded doesn't mean that Iraq is the only place we are watching. They also happen to be the most obviously bad people, and taking them out is a message as well: The US is done with these stupid games.

I'd be kinda scared if we WEREN'T all over. that sounds kinda....alright, a lot imperialistic of me, but hey, I sleep soundly at night. Okay, not literally, but still. And then of course there's always the media. Gotta love the media.

Not imperialistic. I have to admit, we think of ourselves as the superheros-But then again, we are the only remaining superpower. So someone has to keep the peace, since the UN isn't willing to do it...
Sorry, I have a low opinion of the UN. It's a great idea, but it just didn't work out right. Takes too much time, and if you are a superpower like us, with the higher information we get that we don't want to share with just anyone, it weighs us down greatly.

Well I've read analogies, reasons and such from both sides (I'll be damned if I can remember them.) and I took the Anti-war side. I really don't remember the arguements, I'm not really all that fluent in American politics. What I said to Lymelady was just stuff I remembered.
My main problem with Bush is his manipulating Canada to do what he wants. He tried to manipulate Canada to go to war (We said that we'd go with the UN's decision.) and got pissed when we refused.
Not only that but Canada was and still is thinking of legalizing weed. Personally I don't do it, (I'm sXe.) but I think that people should be allowed to do it if they want. Just the same as alcohol and smoking. When the American government found that out they basically said that if we did that they'd treat us the same as Mexico, with the border crossing and such. Not in those exact words, but it's been like a year so I don't remember it exactly.
In a bit I might do some research on the war in Iraq so I can debate with you about it. But right now I'm tired and don't care all that much. I can't vote in America (Or Canada for that matter.) so there's no point in me getting involved in the American politics.

I gotta admit, I personally don't really pay atttention when Canada is mentioned in politics because I never expect Canada to to anything the UN isn't doing and certainly never expect Canada to agree to what Americans are doing. I'm pretty sure the moose(plural?) would attack anyone who tried to hide a WMD up their butts. Vicious moose. A moose once bit my sister....heh, actually, a moose once mauled my neighbor when he was climbing. They were just walking along in the mountains and a moose treed them and they needed to be flown out, lol. Alright, no one be offended by my humor, please, I know there's more to Canada than the RCMP always getting their man and hockey players taking home the cup and moose biting peoples' sisters, and I know no one's really thinking there are WMDs hidden in Canada. Actually I have heard theories of terrorists opperating in Canada and drugging the meds that people take in from Canada to make the sick people even sicker and weed out the weak until only the strong remain...hmm. maybe that wasn't the best of theories.

xd I have no idea what you just said. Something about a moose, and some Monty Python quotes.
And no, there is nothing more to Canada than hockey players, beavers, moose and these pasteries that you can get called "beaver tails". Mmm they are SO good. Now I want one.

A moose chased my neighbor and his friends up a tree when they were camping in the mountains somewhere, lol. Twas funny. that's why, A moose once bit my sister, now makes me laugh. A moose really hospitalize my neighbor! (Don't blame the moose, really...) Aw, but come on, Canadians came up with water balloons, right?

The interesting thing about personalities of politicians.....
DO NOT HIGHLIGHT. If you are highlighting, stop.
It is time to elect a new world leader, and only > your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three leading candidates. > > > Candidate A - > > Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with > astrologists. He's had two Mistresses. He also chain > smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day. > > > Candidate B - > > He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium > in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening. > > > Candidate C - > > He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, > drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.
Who would you rather be your leader?
Ok, now you highlight.
Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt. > > > Candidate B is Winston Churchill. > > > Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.
Just kinda funny, I thought, how you'd think you never want someone like that leading your nation...and then....BAM!
But hey, Kerry really does flipflop in politics, and that scares me. eek This is one of the reasons the pretzel reason annoys me so much. Fortunately, the people who say it are usually too young to vote.

You know, you can never trust those crazy vegetarians who pretend to be good. ninja I actually chose 2 'cuz it's obvious that the seemingly good person is actually bad. 3nodding And that's something that really kinda annoys me: People's reasons to not like Bush often have to do with who he once was, and mannerisms, when the reasons for not liking Kerry are mostly having to do with politics.
Man. I really can't think of anywhere I've seen Canada in history, or news ever. I used to not think they were involved in the World Wars, because I just couldn't think of anywhere they were mentioned. sweatdrop And in a group I'm in, we are always joking that we are from "Canadia". Which someone told me is actually a city in Canada, but I don't know about the truth in that.
Heh. Thank's Samuel.

Actually....well, she would. lol. Yep. that was the point I was badly trying to make. that someone else made a long time ago and I only have because I"m an email packrat. Course my parents would say the same and one of the things that put them over to conservatism for the first time ever was Bill Clinton. Before Monica, but that really did it. How'd mom put it? "Yeah, most of them did something like that, but it was WHERE he did it that upsets me." So I might just be a gigantic hypocrite and not even know it.

That's why Holland sends Canada flowers once a year. Not to mention that a Queen (I don't remember what country she was fun.) came to Canada to escape the war, while she was pregnant. When she went into labour Canada declared the place she was staying official land, so that her baby wouldn't have technically been born in a different country.
Also the USA and Canada were at war once. xp We burned down the White House.
