Great thread! I'd suggest some places but most of my stores have already been suggested. I have to comment on Torrid, though, if you can't try on their clothing before buying be prepared to return or exchange items. I really like most of the clothes they carry, but I've noticed that the cuts and sizing seems to still be based on thinner body sizes. I usually wear a 26/28 top, and I've tried on 'larger sized' tops at Torrid and didn't fit them right.
I recently discovered Lane Bryant at my mall, and I lurf it now. xp My mom, step-mom and I went in to one the other day and got sized for bras, and I can't believe the size I wear. D=! I was wearing a bra waaaay too small and was always so uncomfortable, but now I've bought a few new bras that fit, and man.. I look better, and feel so much better in them. Everybody should go get sized and see what they really ought to be wearing. o_o

Anyone know stores other than Lane Bryant that sell long (ankle-length) skirts that DON'T have slits in them? Old Navy's skirts almost always have slits, which sucks because I like some of them. gonk
3/4 sleeve t-shirts would be good too.

I don't know the lengths skirts usually come in. O.o Ankle length on me is about 38 inches.

The flowy ones get in the way of going up and down stairs, and since skirts are all I wear, having to sweep them out of the way to walk somewhere is annoying. xD I got two very nice denim ankle skirts from Lane Bryant and I love them, and they're not all huge and flowy. D:

Good thing more stores are openning up. Only thing that needs to change is the fact that they've been making girls sizes like..6 or less...How can someone be THAT friggin' skinny...? I don't understand. It sucks to be skinny!!! mad rofl 3nodding

The bad part is most designers (self proclaimed) refuse to design for larger girls.. which really pisses me off.. they don't want their target market
(size 2-4) to see a size 18 girl wearing the same thing.. they say it ruins the image. I've never beem smaller than a size 14 and i'm tired of not being able to find nice fashionable clothing.. just because i'm big doesn't mean I don't have fashion sense or that i'm not beautiful.

That was why I got into designing clothes for myself. I'm a 22W. Even when I was in high school, I was an 18. I get really tired of seeing something I think is wonderful, and having to stop and go 'oh, it's not in plus sizes', and get all disappointed. Then, looking in plus sizes and going 'who wears this crap?' Not for everything, but alot of things. This is one of my designs. I have more that are regular clothes, but this is one of my favorites. biggrin

My major question for all clothing stores is WHY make a size 0, I mean, really who can fit in it besides a 12 year old? And what 12 year old should be wearing something that LOW-CUT or scandalous??
And I agree with the fashionability for Plus Size clothing. Looking at some of it, I think to myself, 'Hell, my 65 year old grandmother wouldn't be caught dead wearing that...' -shakes her head- What is the fashionable world coming to?
