Haha. Well, first, I was told (by my mother. =/) that you first have to figure out which way your pendulum swings to indicate yes and no.
You start by holding the "palm" of your middle finger under the weight and ask it to show you "yes." It should swing a certain way. For me, it swings towards and away from my chest. Try it a few times so that you're sure that the certain way it swings means yes.
Then for no, you hold the "palm" of your index finger under the weight and ask it to show you "no." Mine swings left and right.
Now, I also learned how to find a "neutral," but I'm not sure how credible it is. You hold the palm of your thumb under the weight and ask it to show you "neutral." But for me, neutral swings clockwise, which is also the way it swings for getting a vague measurement of energy. =/ For my best friend, neutral swings diagonal from the top left to the bottom right, so who knows.
I honestly don't know that much about pendulums, which is why I'm going to open a thread in the Guild Shadows with info on them.
