I've prepared some jokes for this challenge!

"What did the baker do when she ran out of tp?"

Ciabatta roll.

"And what do you get when you cross a model with a busy intersection?"
A catwalk.

“Lastly, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?”
I have no F-ing clue.

I knew when I was paired with Kim that I wanted to do a halfatar, and a split clown felt like a no-brainer.
Personally, I’ve always loved clowns and feel they've got an unfair reputation for being scary.
With that being said, I considered going horror, but didn’t want to bite off of Art the Clown's aesthetic,
so instead Yin-Yan, the peace-making clown, was born.

I started with the outfit and mapping it out took a long time.
Knowing I wanted a clean split while still including classic clown elements.
The “New Year Lights Party” hat established the direction: off-white on the right and off-black on the left,
opposite of her hair. (Which felt like something wacky a clown would do.)
The black side of her head was harder to balance since there aren’t many off-black, clown-themed items,
that could fill in that space. So I added a crown as a nod to clowns’ historical
ties to royal courts. (Which also felt like something wacky a clown would do.)

Next I needed a ruffled collar and I got lucky finding "Candied Just a Jest" but
it took hours to find an off-white option to split. Eventually, I found the
“Catharsis Spring Feather” collar. From there, I leaned into florals and ruffles for the white side.
It was definitely the easier of the two as Gaia seems to love the pure color scheme.
One last minute decision was the addition of "The Keys to the Victorian" cheek wings.
I felt like they added to the silhouette of a clown, think Krusty from the Simpsons.
My personal way of making that hairstyle without literally changing the hair.

The background was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
My aim was more focused on color than obvious clown imagery,
while still keeping it visually interesting. Once again, I decided to flip the colors to add another layer of
wackiness and draw more emphasis to the outfit’s design. In the end, I’m really proud of how it turned out!
Though I never want to attempt it again. sweatdrop

Bonus Fact: I originally planned a different dress for the black side, but changed it last minute. It was simpler, but I chose a pattern to help check off one final clown motif.

heart Circus Cutie heart

When I saw the theme was Clown, I was instantly excited—because, oddly enough, I love clowns. My first instinct was to go for a classic red round nose, but then I paused… why does it have to be round? That’s when I found the little heart nose—and I squealed. Circus Cutie was born.

The Volant Reverie Top is actually a piece I personally own in several colors, but for my girl Waleria, I wanted to fully commit to the “cutie” aesthetic. Since we already had that adorable heart nose, I leaned into soft pastels to bring out her charm. Of course, no jester is complete without a collar and a hat—so after some digging, I landed on a sweet double hat that felt just right. The collar frames the top beautifully, giving the whole look a more unique and elevated silhouette.

But I knew something was missing—her Circus Cutie talent… and stripes. Now, polka dots and stripes might seem like a strange combination, but think about it: she’s a playful clown cutie, performing her magical card tricks under a glowing center stage made just for her. The stripes don’t clash—they enhance the look. It’s a perfect kind of chaos, where everything somehow works together. The colors, the patterns, the energy—it all just clicks.

I absolutely adore this Circus Cutie, and I hope you do too. 🎪✨

Description:
I LOVE clowns. Ever since I was little, I've had a deep appreciation for the art of clowning, as such I was VERY excited to dive into this 2nd challenge. Flexing my knowledge of clown culture and history, I wanted to pick a type of clown that I felt confident no other designer would go for - that being the only original American clown: the hobo/tramp. These character clowns, inspired by the migrant workers and vagabonds of the early 20th century, are known for their frumpish clothes and sooty stubble.

For this challenge, I styled Marisol as a classic masculine tramp. Though there are feminine tramps, I wanted to stick with what was most iconic for this clown type. Doing Marisol's makeup was easily my favorite part of this challenge, as I hardly did any makeup in the 1st round. I wanted the makeup to be as accurate as possible: white paint around the eyes and mouth, bright red nose and cheeks, upturned eyebrows, and of course that famous five o' clock shadow.

For Marisol's outfit, I wanted to stay true to the tramp's ramshackle style, which was a challenge in itself as I find Gaia tends to avoid "ugly" styles nowadays, with most pieces fitting that aesthetic being from older, evolving sets. Trying to keep the outfit both faithful and fashionable, I focused on pairing mismatching patterns - plaid, stripes, and polka dots - to give the outfit an intentionally uncoordinated look, as if our vagabond simply picked up all these pieces separately along her travels.

Marisol is wearing a black brimmed hat with a striped red ribbon, accented with a daisy - flowers being a common accessory for tramps. Matching her red ribbon is a red polka dotted bowtie, both helping to compliment the red on her face. Under her oversized, yellow plaid jacket is a blue plaid shirt, the cool color balancing the entire outfit's warmer tones. The red and blue with hints of white evoke the American flag, calling back to the tramp clown's Americana roots. Finally, Marisol uses pair of black suspenders to hold up her ill-fitting pants, which have been mended with a striped yellow patch.

"Mari the Moocher" sits outside a train ticket booth, leaning against a luggage case which carries all her possessions. In her hand, she jingles a tin can at passerby with sad, pleading eyes, begging for enough change to catch a ride on the next train, going who knows where.

….. As if she had walked straight out of a dreamy little Paris stage,
somewhere between a performance and a fashion show
.

Let me start by saying,
I have a newfound respect for celebrity stylists.
gonk xd

I want to thank the judges for the helpful advice,
because that was the motivational kick I needed.
whee

For this challenge, I went for a maximalist/ soft hybrid Pierrot vibe.
(I know I know, that’s A LOT, but hear me out)
I wanted to carry on the narrative from last week’s challenge,
but this time I went a little playful, and very expressive.

*the narrative*
Araceli is a model living in Paris

My “anchor item”
The Heirloom Goddess (shawl)

This piece was very important to the look I wanted to achieve.
and that is to recreate a vintage/ elegant monochromatic Pierrot.

As you can see I weaved in some subtle Haute Couture energy,
like that effortless, slightly undone elegance you see in French style.
Kind of the idea that even something theatrical can still feel chic.
And this is where I turned to the art of Cluttering.
There is a particular styled hat every Pierrot clown wears that
instantly categorizes them, and the item that comes near to that,
the Pierrot Piccolo, just didn’t seem like a right fit for what I wanted to
achieve.
I started with the Lumiere Blanc Reborn (top hat) and built from that.
Then viola! I made-shift a kind of couture Pierrot chapeau.

To me, it feels like araceli is part performer, part fashion muse—soft,
a little dramatic, and very intentional… like telling a story without saying a word.

Outfit Name: Buttons The Arcade Attendant

User Image

Description:
Buttons The Gamer Clown is a character concept that i've been playing around with for a some time, and this felt like the perfect opportunity to put it to the test. This time she's ended up taking the form of an arcade mascot/attendant. Initially, Colette's features tempted me to work with a much softer pastel color scheme, but I ended up getting attached to this bright polka dotted dress that was visually reminiscent of the Twister boardgame. Working around the simple dress quickly became a balancing act between material excess and readability, as I imagined Buttons roller-skating around the arcade collecting tickets and handing out prizes. As much as I fretted about potentially losing her silhouette in an ocean of plastic novelty, I wanted her look to be just as bright and loud as the arcade. She does have two top hats, which in a way communicates a sort of duality between whimsy and business as the black hat's ribbon resembles the tie she wears around her neck. Something else I thought was kind of fun is that if you follow the loop from her headphone wire, it seems to nearly line up with the loop made of tickets. For her face paint I chose to go with some of the most basic clown paints, and was happy to see the green triangles working well with her high cut bangs (most of the time when I try to use those they get lost easily). I also like the idea that the teardrop makeup coupled with her relatively flat expression conveys a subtle sense of discontentment, as though she might be an entirely different clown once she's off the clock. It was tough not to accidentally fall into the bright or cmyk color schemes too far, as I wanted something that lands a little bit in-between them.

Also thank you for your feedback on my previous entry! I had been under the impression that Equip Lists are required for challenges as well as the audition.

      𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
i got curious when the challenge mentioned clowns' rich history so i went on a deep dive. i discovered commedia dell'arte and was captivated with the stock character columbina. her roles were confined to being harlequin’s mistress, pierrot’s wife, or the comic maid. she is usually unmasked and was rarely the star... she was always just the support to the clowns. she reminded me of spinel (from steven universe), who was pink diamond’s forgotten jester, and of "everything stays" which is a song from adventure time (the writer explains that they're actually connected). both embody devotion bound to others — columbina, clever yet forever supporting, and spinel, constant yet abandoned. so for this challenge, i wanted to make haoran into a columbina-inspired clown doll in that kind of setting. (᨟ ͜● ᨟)

      𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐞
in this look, i finally gave the columbina her very own mask. i was inspired by the verhakuma's mask item — & because we’re not supposed to cover her features, i used it instead as a reference for haoran’s clown makeup. since columbina was traditionally unmasked, i created a mask-like visage through makeup instead. to achieve this, i used two brow basics to darken her eyebrows into a sorrowful expression, making her look as though she’s crying with the help of falling tears. because the white clownface item wouldn’t work with a brow layer, i opted for the facepaint la cara maravilloso de loyal. this allowed me to capture the “sad clown” aesthetic. for the nose, i layered several items to add depth and topped them with obun hunks to complete the effect. to harmonize the light blue elements within her look, she also has that eyeshadow color.
her dress is a combination of the three archetypes:
      • for columbina, the resourceful maid, i built a patchwork skirt from 4 items: severed bloom for the black silhouette, auspicious heart of the cards for her apron (shaped by midsommar vest), heaven's wondrous idol for the patchwork effect, and the l'histoire to shape the layered skirts into a dainty look. to emphasize her maid identity, i layered wondrous spelldancer danica with meido ruffled dandelion headband as her head accessory. i replaced danica's bow (removed w/ pruning pinchers) with the oversized very unbirthday polka dot bow, blending whimsy with the maid cap.
      • to honor pierrot, her melancholy husband, i added a ruff collar using boy toy.
      • for harlequin, her fickle lover, i put diamond motifs from hearts of cards and wondrous idol (i lucked out finding this bc i had been using another scheme for a diff pose initially but i changed it at the end and saw this scheme instead with the perfect diamonds that sits nicely on the dress!!).
i mismatched polka dots from the bow w/ checkers on wonderful extraordinary trend legmod to heighten the clown aesthetic. instead of bright colors, i chose dark tones — making her resemble a forgotten garden doll, her garments faded and shadowed with time.
      𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞
i used the burning bright bg to make her look like she's laying down and with the help of the leaves from peaceful ruins, it looks like you're peeking through a shrub to even catch a glimpse of her. i darkened the borders using pierrot's mischievous smile to give focus on her look.
the garden holds her, the seasons turn, and still she waits. everything stays, right where you left it… and in the distance, a voice drifts away: “you think i’m just a fool… waiting here for you.”

Designers, you should all be extremely proud of yourselves this week--this was an incredibly tough
challenge for us to judge with so many unique, stand-out looks! You all did a great job implementing
your feedback from the first challenge, and we saw so many increases in scores overall. While we say
goodbye to our first designer this week, please know that we are genuinely so impressed with how
committed everyone is to improving. Keep it up!

FarrahLopolis — Kim
• This look had us Judges in an absolute CHOKEHOLD this week, and your victory is well-earned!
We're super impressed with the technical mastery you've shown here, and we loved how you played
into Kim's features. The clown inspiration is clear, but this is just such a creative and clever take on
it! Special attention was called to the construction of the ruff and dress in particular.
• Judges were split (hehehehe) on the background. Some felt that it was just a little too busy in spots,
particularly on the white/ivory side. We know from the description that your aim was color over motif, but
being more intentional with the imagery may have helped to give you a perfect score across the board!

Veenonymous — Araceli
• We are SO proud of the 180 you managed for this challenge, Vee--we knew you had it in you! Araceli
looks elegant and runway-ready here. You absolutely nailed the pierrot motif in your silhouette and details,
but still managed to make it look like a true couture ensemble, which is the exact vibe we want for this
competition. Your description is much improved as well.
• Your main critique was that Araceli looked like she was in a bit of a void space with the stark white background.
Something to liven up the space without overwhelming the look--like a chandelier or faint wallpaper--may
have been beneficial. In addition, you have forgotten to give your look a title the past two weeks! This makes
your entry technically incomplete, and will disqualify you from taking the win if it's not there in the event you
score high enough to place 1st in a challenge.

Endless Endeavors — Inga
• Judges loved the the campy, over-the-top look on Inga! We loved the silhouette of the dress you
constructed, and of course, these colors are absolutely delightful. The eyeshadow gradient is impeccable
as well.
• While we loved watching the look evolve and where you ultimately ended up with calling it finished, I
would caution you not to post an image of your outfit until you're 100% done cooking going forward--
there's always a risk that someone will have a preference for a previous iteration and draw comparisons.
As an additional note, some judges felt that this background was a little sparse and didn't give us the
"poster" vibe as intended.

Elora Lore — Zarina
• You took this challenge in such an interesting direction with this Wonderland-inspired jester! From the playing
card-like colors, rose backdrop, and diamond motifs, the inspiration is crystal clear, and you really sold us on the
concept through your deftly woven description. Also, these sleeves rock and we're glad you made them a focal point.
• Judges had mixed feelings about the leg area; some felt the single sootberry sock stood out a little too much, and
one felt that this area was too simple when compared to the sleeves and train. We would have liked to see the
makeup pushed more as well, as it appears to be only one item!

Xogue — Aoide
• Making Aoide into a mime was such a smart choice, and the Judges all agreed that it plays to her more stoic
expression very well. The outfit looks deceptively simple at a glance, but we loved reading about the care you
took with its construction! The end result is quite stylish, and of course the pose really helps to sell the look as
a whole.
• This is so solidly done that the Judges didn't have much to critique; being on the simpler side just meant that
other looks left more of a lasting impression. One judge wanted a little more jazzing up in the background, maybe
by adding a prop. The only consistent feedback was that your description was hard to read between the large
paragraph and small font size! This doesn't affect your score, but we Judges would appreciate a slightly more
legible font so we don't have to squint as much next week.

kaekie — Haoran
• Poor, forgotten Haoran was tugging at our heartstrings in this look! Judges love how you constructed
this outfit; you struck a nice balance between keeping your silhouette crisp and clean without being shy
on details. The scale of the patterns you chose give this look a very doll-like effect, and we were impressed
with how you managed to weave in those subtle blue accents throughout.
• Your critiques were mostly very minor this week--one Judge felt the bunny shoes were a little out of place,
and while your description was excellent, another commented that this week's felt a little long-winded. We
also felt that it was a missed opportunity to not use Spinel's signature pink in the look for how much she
inspired your concept!

mayuralover — Bea
• This is such a big improvement from last week--great job! This look is perhaps one of the most
played-straight this week in terms of concept, but it's done so solidly, even if some of the details feel
like the "obvious" choice. Judges loved the layering and how you called attention to the repeated
shapes in your description.
• Your biggest critique was in the description category--you did well in describing the technical side,
but we still want to know more about who you are as a designer and how that affects your choices.
Remember, outside of the themes we give you, you are the connective tissue between all of your
looks! One judge also felt that a different color for this particular background may have helped Bea
pop just a little bit more.

CottonCandy Girl — Marisol
• You absolutely nailed your motif, and the Judges have given you props for creating such a stand-out
look this week--daring to go with a theme no one else would is an excellent strategy. We were all
unanimous is feeling that Marisol 100% embodies this particular clown archetype, even at a glance.
Judges called special attention to the overall textures and superb scene building.
• This may sound odd, but you nailed the vibe so perfectly that some Judges felt that this look almost
felt more like a costume, in a way. We would have loved to see a little more of your own spin on the
concept to bring this back into "fashion" territory! Also, we didn't knock points for this, but we encourage
you not to hide your description under a spoiler next week.

xXAcid_FreeXx — Wren
• Wren looks absolutely darling this week! Her ensemble is simple, but clean and effective. We
loved that you took your feedback to heart and made sure her pose was dynamic and playful
without obfuscating the outfit. Judges also liked Wren's makeup, which felt fun and festive; the
colors here and within the outfit are a nice contrast with Wren's features.
• Judges agreed that the little party hat felt out of place, as the faint pink and yellow tones don't
show up elsewhere in the look. We also weren't huge fans of this background choice--something
about the colors without any filters or lighting made Wren feel pasted in. The outfit is always more
important, but with so many strong looks this week, we had to split hairs on these details!

Kr-E — Salome
• Us Judges were really hoping someone would take this challenge in a horror direction, and we are so glad
you delivered. You absolutely nailed the vibe of a scare actor clown! The outfit is crisp and clean and the pose
authoritative; one Judge felt that the look gave Ringmaster vibes too--as if Salome is the one in charge of a
creepy clown gang.
• While your look last week needed a little paring down in spots, we felt that you may have swung a little too far
in the other direction this week, as this look felt a little sparse in some respects. Judges would have liked to
see just a little more detail in places--particularly the makeup--to really elevate the horror concept and give the
look some more oomph. We know it can be a tricky balance to strike, but we believe in you!

Freminet — Henrietta
• Henrietta makes an adorable doll here! Judges had praise for the colors chosen and most felt that they
complemented her natural features. We loved how the details in the skirt were carried through the rest of her
ensemble--like the scattered ribbons and dot/button motifs. The posing helps sell the fantasy of her being a
child's toy.
• As adorable as the little mouse companion is, some Judges felt that this was an unnecessary detail and made
the head area too cluttered. One judge also wanted to see the doll motif pushed further, perhaps by adding
something like a doll box or playing with the scale of objects in the background.

Starry-Tiger — Eevi
• This is an adorable look and palette for Eevi; much like your model, it feels vibrant and soft all at
once. The pastoral flavor was a unique direction for your styling--it's reminiscent of Strawberry
Shortcake and other nostalgic characters in the best way possible! We also enjoyed the personal
connection you touched on in your description.
• Some judges felt that the layering was just a tad clunky in some areas; the bunnies hiding in the
background and the apron/sash combo were called out for being a smidge too busy. This description
also felt like a step backwards from last week--we want just a little more meat from it next time!

Pommes Frites — Brigid
• Judges loved how these vibrant and playful colors stood out from the crowd this week! We're
impressed with how balanced the overall look is between the patterns and colors. Judges also
appreciated Brigid's dynamic posing and detailed makeup.
• The biggest drawback for us was just how darn cluttered the head area is. Between all the
hats and horns, we felt that there was just too much going on here. Certain details of the makeup
--like the big diamond and silvery nose--also had judges split. Just a smidge more editing
may have been beneficial here!

Crimson-Miz — Colette
• I feel like a broken record at this point, but this is another very unique direction for this challenge, and we are
quite tickled by Buttons as a character concept. After reading the description, we were sold much more on the details--
like the cluttered baubles being arcade prizes! These colors are definitely giving retro arcade and plastic novelty vibes.
• This was probably the most divisive look amongst Judges this challenge. It took a little bit of warming up to in terms
of the overall aesthetics, and while some ended up loving it, others felt that the end result is just a little too chaotic.
We also think the black top hat could have been nixed; the headphones bring in enough of a contrasting color in this
area without being overpowering.

lthildim — Darla
• Judges enjoyed the vibrant colors and whimsical styling here; it feels very dream-like and help sets Darla apart!
Seeing the inspiration images helped us understand your concept, and we give props for the improved description
this week.
• As much as we liked the motifs you brought in, this look ultimately felt just a little too cluttered. Most of Darla's
outfit is obscured by the legmod and giant bag, and the floating sheep are covering up a gorgeous background.
While the description is much better than your first entry, Judges also still want to hear more about who you are
as a designer and how that affects your styling choices!

ChocoDoko — Waleria
• There's no doubt about it, this outfit is downright adorable! We can tell from your description how
intentional every element was, and every Judge called attention to how much you improved in the
description category for this challenge.
• Unfortunately, this look overall wasn't cutting it for us. As much as we enjoyed the concept, we felt
it was at odds with Waleria as your model. Between her static pose and more stoic base expression,
the end result has her looking bored and grumpy. Leaning into the concept of a disgruntled clown and
playing to your model's features could have helped to save you this week.

𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕴𝖓𝖘𝖕𝖎𝖗𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖔𝖓
For this week's challenge, I wanted to return to something firmly within my wheelhouse: FANTASYYYY BABYYY! I absolutely adore the genre, and dressing Inga in this way was incredibly fun.

The starting point for me (like always) was color, and I really wanted to dress Inga in an unexpected color. When you see her honey blonde hair and pistachio-colored eyes, the last thing you'd expect is something bold like red. So, naturally, that's the direction that I took her in. Paired with this gorgeous gothic background, the look immediately pulled me into pyromancy builds in the Souls-Like genre, specifically Elden Ring.

I imagined Inga moving through the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Water surrounds the structure, still and endless, reflecting the building's towering edifice on its rippling surface. The Academy: an institution that cultivates the most capable wizards in The Lands Between. Home to the world's most prolific magician, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. In the fierce battle between Inga and Rennala, Inga uses her crimson flames to scorch Rennala's summoned creatures, blasting them point-blank until they disintegrate into the waters below. Then, Inga lands her killing blow: a barrage of fire balls against Rennala's torso. She falls, her final words: a plea to her first-born.

"𝔒𝔥 𝔩𝔦𝔱𝔱𝔩𝔢 ℜ𝔞𝔫𝔫𝔦, 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔢𝔞𝔯 𝔡𝔞𝔲𝔤𝔥𝔱𝔢𝔯. 𝔚𝔢𝔞𝔳𝔢 𝔱𝔥𝔶 𝔫𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱 𝔦𝔫𝔱𝔬 𝔟𝔢𝔦𝔫𝔤."

𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕻𝖗𝖔𝖈𝖊𝖘𝖘
Souls-like games are known for their absolutely brutal gameplay, and I partially chose Elden Ring / Dark Souls as reference points because like the games, this week's challenge was also brutal for me, haha. When I built this look, I wasn't aware of any tips and tricks, so it was quite difficult to locate items that fit this color story without relying on Gaia's built-in color system. That said, my methodology in finding items was as follows... in the avatar builder, search for a broad criteria like "red" or "dress"... scroll... click the next page.... try on an item.... hate it and hit "undo"... scroll some more... find an item that I love but realize that it doesn't start with I N G or A.... undo... next page... bus... another club.... another club... no sleep.... next place.... no fear.

Sufficed to say, this took me a while. But for as long as the process was, it was still incredibly fun and rewarding. It really forced me to get creative and use items that I may have otherwise skipped over. I had to build this looks slowly and methodically, and the process of building harkened back to when I played my first Souls-Like game.

Before playing Dark Souls, I used to get frustrated easily... at games, at little things, at small hurdles. But in this genre, the constant cycle of failure and retrying, over and over again, started to shift my perspective a bit. In some ways, it taught me not to take things so seriously. That when I push through the slog, improving and learning just a little each time, I can eventually become something more. Something better and more determined!

And sometimes, that's all I need to overcome whatever's in front of me... whether that's a boss fight, or just a stubborn outfit that refuses to come together.

Cluttered Shapeshifter

Challenge #3: What's In A Name
Designer: Crimson-Miz
Model: Colette
Status: Complete
Outfit Title: Time Stasis Crystalize!

Description:
I went through a bit of a conceptual journey with Collette for this look. At first I had really wanted to work a sort of ice queen angle, since I thought I might get somewhere with a lot of Cold and Cool named items, and the frosty blues would be perfect to highlight Colette's eyes. Then it went a sort of water elemental direction, where I was playing around with the idea of trying to convey a transition from liquid to solid. It was at that in-between phase where I couldn't stop thinking about magical girl transformations, and how all the translucent ruffly ribbony items I stumbled onto were starting to seem like they were taking on a life of their own.
The Candied color scheme quickly became foundational for its soft pastels, and the Eternal color scheme inspired me to picture ice and frost as less literal and more like a metaphorical "freezing moments in time" kind of super power for Colette's magical girl persona. The idea was that it would seem sort of innocuous at first, like archiving something with a photo or a video, only later to be revealed that each crystalized moment in time can be manipulated in various ways, say like trapping a particularly hazardous antagonist in a groundhog day loop, or finding a way to crush the crystal into powder and effectively erase the event it contained from history. My only concern is that I maybe overdid the background and foreground elements, or pooled too much of my attention there, but I really really wanted to make it look like a rapidly condensing mist. In order to showcase the outfit purely on its own, i've included a version without all the special effects. I really like the transparency of the ruffles giving an illusion that her outfit is gradually going from a liquid state to a solid one.

Over all I had a lot of fun building this look, I liked this challenge a lot, and I think the restricted item pool actually made it easier to make decisions about what items to combine, and it was oddly fun to filter through the marketplace alphabetically. I really wanted to include more items starting with O, especially Opalescent ones, but the colors didn't align as well with the concept once it took root, and with all the ruffles and texture already present I was worried anything else might over-clutter the look.

Item list:

Brilliant Pumkin Poof (Pearl)
Aesthetic Princess Glare (Dandelion)
Matte

The Lovely Doll (Bow)
Clear Crystal Seal (Back Bow)
Candied Sense of Porpoise (Hands V1)
Eternal Moonlight's Lullaby Gown
Candied Time Traveler C (Halo Crown)
Candied Back2K (Blush)

Let It Snow (small flakes)
Lady Lunar (celestial lines)
Timeless (Halo of time)
Eternal Catharsis Requiem (Holy Blessing)
Eternal Usa Usa Chan (BG)

desc:

From the get-go, I wanted to make sure to take note from the last critiques and not overcrowd her fashion this round, especially when it was up to me to make my own theme. As always, I went with a few different schemes and non-scheme items to make the look, including Rosy, Etoile, Blossoming and Duckling.

Starting with what was unchangeable from her base, her hairstyle is quite modern with its choppy cut and bright color, but it actually works quite well here imo(as the name is Irish/ Celtic, and the orange plays on that), instead of looking ultra modern, it inspired me to play into the tomboy feel with historical setting. Loosely based a little past regency, but not quite gregorian, and on the cusp of Victorian era - Brigid has a Titus crop haircut, a shockingly short trim for ladies, where Jane Austen even wrote in her letters that it was a 'sad cropt head' for those she knew that had it. Definitely not in Vogue, though of the time.

From the beginning I started with a garden scene, though which pieces changed and I almost went with a balcony /semi-indoor scene as if it was in a gala that she was escaping from. In the end, I really wanted to lean into the nature and colors from her outfit, and felt Brigid would definitely have escaped outside or away from a London season party in the gardens, especially if a tempting pet was there to keep her company. I myself do this at awkward parties, especially if the couple hosting has a dog. The companion here felt fitting for the time and location, being the UK in the 18 to 1900s. Plus the pixeling wasn't jarring or too modern. The scene feels as if she is hoping at least the dog will be open to her company without judgment, or perhaps as if someone else at the party came upon her playing with a dog that does not belong to her.

As for the fashion! Bridget in this is a wallflower, not someone interested at all in the tone looking for a match during a garden party in the spring season. Not one for fine clothing, her mother and sister have forced her into attending and dressing up. She rejected the Gregorian mutton sleeves of the time, going with an older gown, perhaps from her mother or Aunt from the regency times with its high bust and tight to the arm glove and small puff sleeves. To spruce it up they simply added some clippings from their own home garden. And gave her typical drop earrings to accessorize. A female family member also definitely gave her the matching percher hat which they swore was up and coming, and Bridget would do anything to not have to wear a bonnet. I wanted to make sure the top and center mass of the gown wasn't crowded and just beautiful white fabric, leaving the decoration to the bottom. Similarly, I went with modest makeup, as white powder and some blush was all the rage for England and France. Being outdoorsy though, her freckles and spots show through the makeup.

This time around there honestly wasn't anything I felt I would have done differently/ changed! I'm quite happy 💕

Description: I laughed out loud when I first read the challenge. Having three letters to rely on was going to be so tough. Sure, I wasn't alone in the challenge with Kim over there, too. But it sure does limit some things, especially when I look through my own personal closet, and some of my favorite sets don't start with B, E, or A. There is the pro and con of not using items starting the the words "a" or "an," but I digress! At first, I decided to go mostly with the Alexandrite scheme, because it's one of my favorite schemes on the site, and a lot of its items do just go by "alexandrite ____." However, even though I personally do solo scheme avatars mixed with analogous colors/schemes when I don't have any restrictions, I knew that the items may just blend in with each other and not be discernible.

So, moving away from the Alexandrite scheme, I came across Alitura Figura in my inventory, and that was the moment I knew I had to pivot. It may seem cliche for the springtime, but I friggin' love flowers (and another thing I love to draw). So I had to turn Bea into a flower fairy of some kind.

Another way I tried to "cheese" using a letter were any of the "Astra" items (before the announcement with the helpful tips was sent out), but they are mostly accessories, so I couldn't build a whole outfit out of those anyway. I did later end up using the wonderful Astra: Roseate Monarch Wings because it was a nice, bright pink to stand out amongst the other pinks throughout Bea. And one more reason that's not a surprise - to go with the flowers, I also love to draw butterflies!

Always for the light and airy and layered, I layered the solid and ruffly skirt of Alitura Figura with the gauzy skirt of the Vernal Equinox, Dreamkeeper, and Northern Light for some contrast in fabric. I'm super pleased at the varying height I was also able to achieve, and this kind of layering if what I'm a huge fan of drawing in my own avatar art pieces. I'm also pleased as a peach (hehe) to be able to bring in a variety of greens and pinks from the inspirational Alitura Figura to all parts of Bea, which was easy to do using the "enchanted" tag.

Finally, I'm so ecstatic that the background of Bug Wanderer has a built-in lighting effect to put Bea in an ethereal light. My favorite effect is either from Samurai Soul or the dappling of Stray Moon, and that obviously wasn't an option.

Overall, I think this look does encompass the meaning of her name - "blessed" and "bringer of happiness." If anything, being dressed in flowers, the motif of a butterfly, and in nature brings me happiness! 3nodding

❝𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒫𝓇𝒾𝓃𝒸𝑒𝓈𝓈 𝒾𝓈 𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒~❞
For this challenge I decided to lean into the literal meaning of the name Kim.
I found that the full name Kimberly is of Old English origin, meaning
"from the meadow of the royal fortress" (It's also unisex)
Translation: It was time to make some royalty.

Working with 3 Letters was going to be tough and I wasn't sure if I was going
to lean into the feminine princess look or go the armor clad baddie route.
Using the mp and searching keywords like royal, meadow, and tiara, I was
able to narrow it down by quite a lot. The arms from Maiden of Fortune were my
starting point this time around. I didn't want to rely on the same color scheme for my
entire look so I searched through dozen of items before I found the Midori Diamond of the FW gown.
That pretty much solidified the feminine Disney princess style we ended up with.
After some fine-tuning throughout the week I was able to find a matching top to help add detail.
Also adding the ruffles to the skirt and expanding her tiara with another circlet underneath.

The background needed to pair with the theme while not being too distracting from the main event.
I am Forgotten Suffering was the perfect fit for my vibe and I layered snow from Icy Descent to fill in the void
while also reflecting the awkward transition from winter to spring. (Currently living in it stare )
Overall I'm really happy with how this look came out. Definitely want to keep
trying new silhouettes for my model as the competition goes on.

Some other less famous Kims: Kim Kardashian, Kim Possible, and the iconic Kim Cattrall.

As the competition moves on, I'm actually finding myself becoming attached to Kim.
She shares the most physical traits with me and I see a lot of myself
when designing her looks. (aside from that sick a** hair xp )
With that being said, it took a very long time for me to be comfortable in my own skin.
I've always had an eye for what looks good and what pairs well together.
It's just... I didn't have the confidence to make bold choices.
So being on Gaia and working with Kim as my model has been a really fun experience
and I couldn't have picked a better partner to be paired with.

Challenge #3: What's In A Name
Designers, welcome back to your third challenge! While the first elimination
is never a laughing matter, the show must go on. With a few challenges under
your belt, you’ve probably realized that your model pairing can have a significant
impact on your styling choices… and this week we’re taking it a step further. For
this challenge, you will be limited to only using items that begin with letters
appearing in your model’s name! (Base features, including optional noses, will
not be included in this restriction.) You can do any sort of theme you like, but
us judges will still be expecting creative and original takes. Lastly, while equip
lists are usually optional, they will be required this week for your submission
to be considered complete. Good luck!

Designer: Ithildim
Model: Darla
Outfit title: The heist
Description: The process to make this avy was to find a theme and then find items with the right letter to follow it.
I started with the Angel egg, but I didn't want it to fade into the avy but to pop thematically so I picked the rainbow one instead of the one in ivory, the mantle insinuating as if it was the bedding the egg was, and she snatched it away all dressed up.
The palace background to set the scene of somewhere grand. Azure as a representation of magic, in her wings and in the spell she is midway off, is this vibrant unnatural blue that contrasts with the natural tones of the bg and the pastel of her clothes.

Darla's yandere eyes have since the beginning made me remember someone a little manic wich in this case translates to a fairy mid heist. Is she stealing the egg? Is she rescuing it? Its up to interpretation.

Ethereal Wren

About the look:

This week I had a lot of ideas I wanted to explore, but when I saw “Eclipsed Solumbris,” I knew I wanted to build an outfit around those pants.

What immediately stood out to me about the pants was the texture and design. I loved how the blue stars and structure of the lines drew your eye down to the blue train behind it. The sheer top connected to it was something I’d never seen before. I also enjoyed that the pose was walking forward, since I am drawn to creating looks that move.

With the blue and white palette as a foundation, I set out to create something ethereal and beautiful. I focused on incorporating white, lavender, pink, and blue, with gold accents woven throughout.

It was important that the outfit did not feel heavy. I wanted Wren to feel luminous, with a magical, witch-like energy. In the background, she moves through a doorway. The space behind her feels vibrant and alive, spilling into the world she is entering. Wren is shaping the world she is entering. Her hands are flexed, shaping gems and influencing the flowers and tree behind her.

The makeup and forehead gem enhance that feeling by creating sparkle, but not overpowering her face. That, along with the gold earrings, draw the eye throughout her entire look, and create a sense of balance.

Her top, Ether’s Blessing, reflects a sense of divine favor. It reveals rather than conceals, allowing the sheer layer to remain visible.

The headband was designed to reflect her magic, combining jewel elements, the blue fabric she is tied to, and organic, flower-like forms that surround her.

Wren is not just part of this environment. She is shaping it, crafting magic as she moves forward. Wren exists as a kind of Mother Earth within a dreamscape.

Personal note:

I structured the outfit list to reflect the spelling of Wren's name, like an acrostic poem with too much to say.

Special thanks to Picaru and Pommes for the tips on how to find items with the correct letters. I was muttering "E... N... R... W..." all week, as I moved forwards and backwards to find the right items that fit.

This challenge was so fun, and it helped me think structurally about how I build my outfits outside of these restrictions.

͙˚* "𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕖 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕕𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖 𝕚𝕟 𝕞𝕒𝕘𝕚𝕔 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕟𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕕 𝕚𝕥." — Roald Dahl

Here, Salome is living in a fantasy realm up in the stars, magic abundant everywhere.
She is the sovereign of this magical land.
Made of stardust and whimsy.

______________________________________________________________

I have been absolutely obsessed with magic and fantasy lately. When I initially started finding items for her, I wasn't leaning into that just yet.
I was waiting for vibes to show up and become what they are now.
At first it was, "Oh, she looks like a queen!" Adds a third eye, "OH phychic!" Adds the headband.
Then I spiraled into so much whimsy. I was obsessing over the accents of sage and the contrast with white, with the burgundy.
After a while, I thought, sorceress, with all her flowing fabrics, it reminded me of wizards and sorcerers depicted in old cartoons and DND.
But in this case, more feminine and regal.

I had also not realized that I subjected myself to only 1 letter, S.
I was so stuck in the headspace of an old challenge from another time I participated. It was very similar and subjected everyone to just one letter.
I had already finished her look when I reread the guidelines to avoid issues.
It was then that I realized and just flew with her anyway.

I will say the hardest part of this was layering and finding the right sage items without them being under Decay items.
(A SEA OF DECAY I SWEAR!)
OH! And finding anything that I liked or wasn't hiding behind her hair, as for makeup on her cheeks to feel more magical.
I did settle for this glam, kind of regal feeling to her look.

In the end, I was in love with the vibe.
I hope you find the magic in and dignity in her stare.
As she shows you her world of wonder, it is an honor to be escorted by thy leige.
