Joi frowned and sighed and looked to Jay for a moment before letting go of his hand and getting. She walked over to her dad and bent over, wrapping her arms around him. "Daddy, I love you. Jay makes me happy." she had tears building up now. "What is it about him that you don't like?" She wasn't trying to be smart with him, just wanted to know what Jay had done.

Vale sighed and he put down the book, closing his eyes. "He's taking you away from me," He whispered so only Joi could hear him. "You're growing up, I know I should have expected this sooner or later, but... I was hoping, praying, that you would stay my little girl for just a little while longer, that you wouldn't find... 'him' until I was ready," Vale shook a little and wrapped his arms around Joi. "I don't like him because he's not good enough for you, no one is, you're my Joi-joi, you're my little girl, my princess, how could I let you settle for anything but the best..." He lowered his head and shook a little. "But I guess, I really don't have a choice do I?"
Jay was silent, watching Joi and Vale as they had their father/daughter moment. He suddenly felt like the outsider, like a homewrecker, he felt like he was driving a wedge between Joi and her Daddy. It made him feel terrible, they were so close, yet, because of him, they had drifted apart. As much as he would like to think that it was an invevitable part of Joi gorwing up into a strong independant woman, he couldn't help shake the fact, that he was the one sitting here watching this.

"Daddy... You can't stop me from growing up." she didn't think her dad would EVER be ready if he had his way anyway. "I will always be your Joi-joi. And don't forget you have Lucius and Lucia still." She felt warm and happy inside that she was so important to him. He was just as important to her. "I'm not replacing you. I'm just asking for my chance at life, like you had when you and mom fell in love." She sniffled a little and hugged him tighter. "Daddy, look at Jay, please? He fears you, but I believe he respects you too." She was trying to get him to see Jay as another pae, not just some object, or a creep. "We both are trying to make things right. I'm tired of fighting with you, but I'm also in love..." She really was growing up fast...

Vale sighed for a moment and he lifted his head, "Alright," He said, loud enough for Jay to hear. "But if he hurts you, there will be no force on earth that will stay my hand," He looked to Jay, and he took a deep breath. "Do you hear that, if you hurt her, I will hurt you, this is your last chance, don't screw up." He nodded his head slowly. "There are going to be, rules of course Joi-joi, you and Jay are NOT going to have it 'easy'."
Jay let out a breath of air, and relaxed. Okay, so we were in the threats stage, that meant that there was hope, or Vale had given up fighting, either way, he was happy, because that meant he and Joi could be together, though with the rules Vale might put in place, he was starting to worry again, what if he got Joi in trouble again!

Joi looked to Jay and smiled. "That seems fair. I think. What are the rules Daddy?"

Vale took a deep breath and he looked at the two before he started to speak, "The rules are as follows; You and Jay may have dates outside the house PROVIDED you have a chapperone of some kind with you, or you take the twins, also, you must be home before sunset, NO exceptions. Also, you must pre-arrange all dates for dates and have them okayed by me or Dizzy at least one week before hand. You are allowed to hold hands, hug, kiss, but no sex. On that note, if I catch the two of you getting 'rowdy' in this house, Jay's but will be out on the poarch and there will be NO seeing each other for at least a week, do I make myself clear?" His tone said that he would not back down on ANY of these rules. "Failure on any of these rules will ban Jay from this house for one week, and Joi will be grounded for one week, any complaint on this punishment will extend it an additional week."
Jay just sat there wide-eyed, holy hell, his future father in law was a draconian facist monster... What the hell was he getting into! He looked at Joi, and remebered what it was again, and he smiled at her, then looked at Vale again. He would wait for Joi to speak first, he was afraid to open his mouth.

Joi's eyes widened at these rules. Most seemed very unfair and ridiculous. "Daddy... what would you have done if Mom's dad had given YOU those rules? Why do all dates have to be prearranged and cleared a week prior?" She sighed a little, looks like they're back to sneaking around and lying to her folks. There's not way she's going to cooperate with that list of damands and her father was a fool to think she would, especially considering her track record.

Vale gave Joi a look, "Moot point, your mother didn't have a father," He said flatly, eyeing her then Jay, "Why? Because I want to make sure I know where you are at all times, you're my little girl, my princess, and it's my job to make sure you're safe." He crossed his arms and sat up a bit straighter. "Are we going to have a problem with these rules? Because if we are, Jay can leave right now and you can go to your room, I'm sure I can find a weeks worth of chores for you..."

Joi narrowed her eyes at her father and stood up straight. "I"m not a child. I am trying to do the right thing and be mature and responsible for this. If YOU are going to be the one that's immature, fine." Looks like they were gonna be fighting again. But this time, she was making a pledge in her mind. If didn't bend, she was moving out.

Vale narrowed his eyes right back at her, "My roof my rules, as long as you are living here you will do as I say, and face the consiquences of your actions." He stood and looked over at Jay.
"Mr. ... Jay, you may leave now, my daughter will be going to her room, this conversation is over."
Jay took a deep breath and he stood, "Sir, you're really not being fair, I have to agree with Joi, those rules you placed are a little harsh, and it makes spontaious spur of the moment dates rather difficult..."
"I said this coversation is over, it is my way or the highway, now PLEASE... Get out of my house," Vale said, glaring at Jay. "Or you will find yourself no longer welcome no matter what your relationship with my daughter is."
Jay opened his mouth for but a moment, and then he closed it again, he turned and looked at Joi, offering her his hand. "If you would escort me Joi?"
"She's staying where she is and then going to her room once you leave," Vale said flatly, "Which would be NOW Sir, so good day!"
Jay frowned and shook his head, "I'm not leaving till I can say good bye to Joi, no matter what you say," He tensed a bit, getting ready for the shock of a scathing retort.
Vale opened his mouth for a moment, and then he looked at Joi, then back at Jay, and then at Joi again. "..." He seemed to be juggling things in his head, measuring Jay up, measuring Joi, judging the situtation. Finally he let out a long sigh and closed his mouth, sitting down on the couch again and resting his forehead on the palm of his right hand, his left leg crossed over the top of his right, his right elbow on his left leg. "Fine, no need to set the dates, but everything else still stands, no sex, and chapperone or the twins, no less."

"Daddy, no chaperones either. Why can't you trust me to use my own judgement, to learn from my own mistakes and actions." She was VERY irritated with her father at this point. She hadn't budged from her standing point and was actually really proud of Jay for standing up to her dad. She wanted to yell and get angry, but then it dawned on her, she got that temper from him. She so tried to think about how to get through to him because anger was only met with more anger.
"Daddy, Jay and I need to get to know each other. Not physically." She added that last bit, waving her hands frantically a moment, "But I mean... how are we supposed to talk to each other if we have to keep on eye on the twins? They have more energy then all the adults in this house combined." She was starting to pout, even sticking her bottom lip a little bit. She wasn't pulling heavy artillery just yet however. She was saving that. "And I promise no sex. I won't budge on that either. I do NOT want babies EVER." The twins cured any lingering thoughts she may have had, even dormant ones.

Vale looked up at his pouting daughter, and frowned, "... But what if we need you to watch the twins, your mother and I need our time alone too, we're not stones, we BOTH need our intimate time..." He wasn't going to pull any punches with Joi, if she was going to use her heavy weapons he would play too. "I don't want you to just drop everything if Jay were to show up while you're watching the twins and we're out on a date,"
Jay jumped in. "I'd help her watch them and be the perfect gentleman sir, you have no need to worry about that, I agree with Joi, no sex... Not until we're married..."
Vale winced visably, and shot a death glare at Jay, oh yes, REMIND me of that, he thought. "I'm still not sure..."

Joi's eyes shot over to Jay and were very wide. Married? Had she agreed to marry him and not have known it? She felt very panicked all of a sudden, but tried to not let it show. She just thought her and Jay would be having fun and hanging out and making out... marriage never once occured to her. Even with mentioned 'be with you forever' her mind never made the connection. Oh Guardians this is serious.
"I would just abandon them, Daddy. I love them too. Besides, I don't want them destroying the house. And I know you and mom need your alone time. I just hope when I'm your age, I can be as happy and active as you two." It may not have been intentional, but she sure implied they were really old.

Vale sighed and he flopped back against the couch. "Fine, fine, no chapperone," He closed his eyes, "Are we all kohser now? Or are we going to haggle this down to fine hairs?" He grumbled and sighed.
Jay bowed, "I think all is fine now," He said gently, looking to Joi. Why did he get the feeling his mouth had outrun his brain.

Joi smiled and leaned back down over her father, hugging him tight and giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you Daddy. I can agree to the rest." She hopped back up and bounded over to Jay and took his hand. "I'm just going to see Jay off now." she mentioned as she started pulling him towards the front door.
