Quickly changing out of her dress and into a Disney princess shirt and pyjama pants, she put her dress on the coat rack and stuffed everything else back into her bag before re-opening the door. "Sorry about that. You can start the movie now...unless you'd like to talk." She wasn't really sure what he had planned, but she hoped for the latter.

He walked in and took a seat on the couch. "We can do whatever you want," he said. "What would you like to talk about?"

Walking over and taking a seat on the couch herself, hugging her knees and feeling self-conscious, she replied, "Well, to be honest, I feel like I'm always driving the conversation, so I'd love to hear whatever's on your mind. I want you to feel like you can talk to me."

"I guess I was just thinking about the movie and that I enjoy being with you," he said. "Nothing very interesting. I'd rather hear what you're thinking about."

Trying not to show disappointment or frustration at his lack of a response, Tinuviel said,"I guess I'm just glad that I was able to spend some time with you that wasn't at the library. Although I am really enjoying the book you gave me for Christmas. It's really kept me occupied when I'm not working. But I suppose that isn't very interesting, is it? Do you want to watch something?"

"Sure, if you don't mind," he said, contentedly as he turned on Netflix and started scrolling through the queue.

After changing into her usual "comfy" clothes upon arriving back at Kromli's after finally having gone to see The Hobbit[/]>, Tinuviel took her place on the couch. She had quite enjoyed the film, but it had made her realize just how mundane her life had become. It seemed like another lifetime when she had lived in Kuzoth or had met Kromli and first gone on an adventure and she wondered if she ever would get the chance again. So it was with that in mind that she asked, "Do you ever wish a wizard would come knocking at your door and invite you on a journey?"

Kromli pushed back all thoughts of his indignation about how Tolkien repeatedly treated goblins in his writing, trying to remind himself that it had been from a world where there were no goblins. Besides, no one wanted to hear how he felt about goblin treatment in literature and films. "I think," he said in response, while hanging up his cape, "that I would rather serve a sorcerer and be ready whenever he needs me."

Not sure whether Kromli was deliberately avoiding the actual issue at hand or missing the point she was trying to make, she elaborated, "You don't get bored spending all of your time reading about or watching people do exciting things instead of doing them yourself? You don't wish there was something more than this?"

"It's been a while since I went vampire-slaying with Matasoga," he said. His roguish ability of targeting vitals was far less useful when dealing with the undead. "I suppose that I do wish that we'd adventure a bit more. Seeing new places was fun," he said. "But I'm established here. I'm comfortable. A lot like Bilbo, I guess... But it would be more like if Bilbo and the dwarves had already finished their adventures and lived in the Shire together."

She thought about saying that the dwarves never lived in the Shire with Bilbo, but decided against it, as it seemed unnecessary. "You're lucky, then, I suppose. I like being comfortable, and I guess that I am, but it's so dull."

"I... I think I can see why you'd say that. I don't think that I'm very interesting," he said. "All of the stories that I might have to tell are more about Matasoga than about me." He thought for a moment and said, "But I'm alright with that. Not everyone is heroic protagonist material. Not even in their own stories. Sometime, be it because of birth, circumstance, nature, or other reasons, the highest purpose one can have is to elevate another... And that's what I want. I want to stay beneath Matasoga and push him to heights that he couldn't reach without me." "Though, I guess that kinda went beyond the question, didn't it? Sorry to ramble," he said.

"But you are interesting!" she blurted. "Do you think I spend all this time with you because I want to get closer to Matasoga? Of course not! I wish you wouldn't think so little of yourself, and I want you to talk more about yourself. You're not rambling. I learned more about you from the short while we traveled together than I have since, which is exactly one of the reasons I wish we'd travel again. I'm tired of being stagnant." This all came out quite hurriedly, and she hoped it didn't put him off. She just couldn't fathom his subservience when he was so good and kind and smart. And Matasoga was...well, Matasoga. The complete antithesis of everything Tinuviel liked about Kromli.

"I know that you aren't using me to get closer to him... Really, that would be silly as he is a lot more accessible than I am," he said ponderingly, before pulling himself back to the topic. "I feel like..." he began, before pausing to collect his thoughts. "I feel like adventuring is something that you do to find yourself and find your home... Or sometimes to craft yourself and create a home. But that it doesn't always have to go on forever. That there comes a time when you can retire." "I think I'm there now," he said. "Not that I'm against coming out of retirement. If Matasoga needs me, I will be there... Or if you wanted to do something, I could try to make arrangements to make that happen, as well. I just don't feel like it's something that I need to do, anymore. It doesn't seem vital, like it did when I was young."

She raised her eyebrows incredulously at his remark about being young. As if he wasn't still! "Then what made you feel that way? Matasoga, I assume?" It felt like everything in this conversation was about Matasoga in some way, and so it was becoming difficult not to show her irritation.
