The Grey Inspector I would, but I try not to have more then 3 Rp's running at a time, and I'm feeling sort've swords and mysterious ritualistic near scientific magic after playing the latest installment in the Tales Series. Ya know, the greatest games in the history of ever. < (( emotion_awesome Obvious fanboyness talking)) Was considering perhaps starting my own Rp in MISC for that kind setting if we weren't going to get the main RP kicking back up soon. Would that appeal to anyone? Please don't feel hurt over this. Tales is amazing (I love you Legretta!) but still falls short of the Final Fantasy Tactics Series. The only things that could help Tactics are a few of these> lol

emotion_jawdrop Tactics...? emotion_0A0 TACTICS???! emotion_yatta Lol. emotion_brofist S'cool, everybody's got something they like. I'm more of a story driven guy. Tactics was okaaa-couldhavebeenepicbutfellatthefinishline-aaay, in story. I think if it had a modern translation of it's story it'd be Freakin sweeeeet, but I still didn't like how as soon as someone joined your party in that they were pretty much just another piece on the board, especially when they had some real potential as characters. That's actually why I like the tales games most of all, because they made you like the characters and they had arcs with good development and interaction between them all. You literally feel like you know and can root for them by the end.
Abyss was actually my least favorite of the modern Tales of games ((disregarding that one that shall not be named... scream it doesn't exist I tell you!)), really, but it's still one of the best games around. Top one on my list is Vesparia. Why? Yuri, freakin, Lowell. I don't care how good a battle system Tactics had, or how epic it's story could be, done right. It would still never be nearly as awesome as Yuri Lowell. xd It's like the tales of guys were like
neutral "Hn...ya know what? Screw it. I'm tired of typical main leads, let's mix batman, James Bond, Jade Kurtis from Abyss, and Kratos from Symphonia."
gonk "what?! Are you mad! That could very possibly break the space awesome continuum!!"
neutral "Yeah...or it could result in one smooth badass pimpdaddy vigilante who rolls around kicking the ever lovin crap outta dudes with a sword and doesn't afraid of anything, while at the same time looking only mildly invested whenever you try to kill him. Try being the key word. Also after beating the main villain he'll be like. "Duuuude." and the villain will be like. "Nah you're right bro, let's save the freakin world." and they'll cut a giant world ending terror in half with a sword the rough size of the stratosphere... yeah...totally."
...... neutral ..........
..... emotion_0A0 "Green light that s**t!" rofl aw man, that game just makes me smile for every single reason a game should.
emotion_awesome On another note though, I think my new Rp would be right up your alley if you like Tactics. Political intrigue, wizardry, ancient demons, war, my idea for this RP is to take in the direction that whoever join chooses it to go. I'm a pro at coming up with stuff on the fly, so I think we could make a pretty freakin cool series of adventures in this world I laid out combining elements from a bunch of stuff. I admit, I DID take a alot of stuff from Tales, but I tried to lay out a rich and varied enough world where you could make any kind of character you wanted. Take gander when it's finished. Tell me what ya think.
The rest of ya guys too. < This Shameless plug brought to you by The Grey Inspector Steven, heh, he was there, I saw him do it. ..him being me....steven. who is definitely at fault. emotion_dealwithit Heh, they'll never suspect a thing...

The Rule of Six looks to be made of win and I would love to be part of it. That being said, HOW DARE YOU DISMISS THE TACTICS STORYLINE?!? War, love, betrayal and demons... it has it all! You start out as a scrub with little ties to anything magical, build up an army of bamf characters, and TRAVEL TO HELL AND SAVE THE WORLD. Killing off your evil/zombified brothers is a bonus xd
Well sure, Squaresoft didn’t sugar-coat the characters and make them all lovable... but the story didn’t suffer for it! Not to suggest that you need easily digestible characters wink I wish Colette from Symphonia HAD turned into a crystal angel... just so she could shut up and stop getting captured at random intervals. Do you remember the stupid lines she would pump out?
sweatdrop Colette: “I’m sorry everyone.” stare Lloyd: “Okay, that’s enough. You’re not allowed to apologize anymore.” sweatdrop Colette: “Oh... sorry.”
COULD WE GET MORE INTERESTING?!!!!?
Lol

xd Ahhh, I see. And what I was saying about the tactics storyline was that it DID have a good storyline, that wasn't the problem, it was how that story was presented. I can state an epic storyline, but if it's presented badly, it's like...like cookies with no milk. (don't argue with metaphor, just run with me on this.) It's still sweet, it's just harder to swallow and enjoy. Characters are really what bring a story to life for me. Without them, meh, I just can't really get invested. Why should I care about the villains motivation to blow up the world? Why should care if Ramza's alive or not? He didn't nessecarily really get me invested in him. I mean, I guess I LIKED him, by the end, that's something, but didn't break down when it was suggested he might be dead either. Delita was the only REALLY developed character, and I would have found it to be a much better game if he'd been either the main antagonist, or at least had a far more active role as Ramza's character foil. As I was saying though man, I don't really blame tactics for that, it was limited by the technology of it's time. They did there best to jam pack that huge plot into the the game, and couldn't keep main characters around once they joined because it gave you the option to get rid of them in favor of your own custom ones for battle. Which was a selling point of the game. Hell, without Tactics, Disagea probably wouldn't exist, and that's enough reason to worship the thing. xd
Colette was really a love or hate character, but you sort've have to be an insightful person, in my opinion, to really like her. Her motivation was always other people, that's really the core part of her character. That's why her struggle throughout the whole game isn't the cliche of coming to terms with sacrificing herself for others like the archetypal fiction for her kind of character, it's the other way around. By the end she has to learn to be more selfish, and even though it would be better if she didn't go to the tower after flanoir, she does anyway, even if this turns out to be just what Mithos wants.
She's a product of an oppressed dying world that she loves, surrounded by people that she loves, and in the beginning, and all her life, she's been told that the only way she can save them is by dying for them. Rather than the resentment one might expect (Hellooooo Zelos, another of fav characters in the franchise just because he so darned complex.) she takes this a chance to end the world's suffering by taking it on herself. This spreads to every other facet of her character. She apologizes constantly because the idea of hurting others, even in the little ways, could probably keep her up nights. Your above example of course is just japanense humor xd I guess it's an acquired taste. Anyway, she smiles not because she's happy, but because she wants other people to be happy. She herself is painted to a rather sad and miserable character, made all the more tragic because of her constantly smiling and upbeat demeanor. If you ever play Symphonia again, try to pick out the times when she's actually happy, and when she's faking it.
But can we get more interesting? Yes. Yes we can, as in my opinion even if Colette does develop she never really completely comes out of her ways (though some might argue that's her strong suit), or confronts them on a level that we can hear aloud. Compare this to someone like Zelos (her character foil) when you play through and get his ending, or even any non Kratos ending, since really the personal revelations that were explored in the ending where he and Lloyd became best bro's probably still happened, just not so much in open conversation. Now THAT was my kind of character. Like Colette he played the fool (to a MUCH greater extent admittedly but then, he was a Double...triple...quadruple...OH! Quintuple agent.) but I wonder if you liked him or not. Now him you either have to be REEEALLY sharp to have liked, or actually gone through and gotten his ending where he and Lloyd became best Bro's. Even if Zelos's nickname for Lloyd was technically Bro already...
Ack, but look at me gush. I could talk about character analyzation ALLLL day. In fact, I would like to, but people tend to think I'm carrying on. emotion_awesome If you want my opinion of Delita though, to see why I liked HIS character, do Ask, I'd love to explain it.

=) Um, that was the most awesome and epic response to ANYTHING EVER in Gaia. I was expecting some sort of joking response... and instead, am now questioning my view of characters in literature/games. Thanks.
Don’t get me started on Delita.
I can’t do justice to this convo as I am at work.
You need to finish The Rule of Six!!!
Or have you? Are you holding out on us?

Sent a (long) profile to you Grey inspector. You're role play inspired me! That's what happens when it's well written. Though I know nothing what you're basing it off of, which might be for the better because I won't purposely make a similar character. I can't wait to start writing. biggrin

emotion_yatta By the way folks, I'll be happy to polish up everyone's profile, so if you've only got a vague set up started, or don't know how finished it is, pm me and we'll chat it out the rest of the way. Once we have at least four of the Six ready and approved, we're going to start role playing right away, maybe even before to lay ground work. emotion_awesome I'm getting super excited!

neutral In Project of atlantis, we have to keep the strict posting order right? so we're waiting on Ally of Memories?
Also, on the matter of Rule of Six, emotion_brofist I'll be starting things off Monday, so people have until then to finish up profiles and turn them in if they want first crack at posting. emotion_yatta Not that you can't join after if you want. It's flexible. I decided that's when we're kicking things off. Probably won't be on all that much tomorrow...*looks at clock* Er, today. XD Sunday I mean. But I'll be able to have time to approve and work out any sent to me sunday night. Gooooood Rping everybody.

Ahh, I think he's just new to this whole Rp thing and is excited. He'll fall into the groove if you give him a little bit of slack and just tell him when he's not supposed to do stuff. Are you talking about when he said he "spammed you" for a post?
emotion_facepalm Ahhh, that's not something you do man. Just a little nudge or reminder in a the OOC thread is fine. People post when they got time, and sometimes, when you're doing it order, they just need a quick reminder it's their turn.
emotion_eyebrow Out of curiosity... how many messages did he send you Ally?
And also... OMG it's the bat signal! I hope everyone remembered their shark repellent!
( xd Only people who are really old, or watch the Nostalgia Critic like me, are gonna get that reference. )
