Its growing on me. A 'lil boy I babysat said I was Mai. Which I don't understand because I do not quite understand that. However Uncle Iroh will always be the man for one reason and one reason only.
Uncle Iroh: Euch! This tea is nothing more than hot leaf juice!
Prince Zuko: Uncle, that's what ALL tea is.
Uncle Iroh: How could a member of my own family say something so horrible!

Lol! I remember that! That was hilarious!

I like the part where:

"Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Cave of Two Lovers (#2.2)" (2006)
Uncle Iroh: You're looking at the rare white dragon bush. Its leaves make a tea so delicious it's *heartbreaking!* That, or it's the white jade bush, which is poisonous.
Prince Zuko: We need food, not tea. I'm going fishing.
[exits]
Uncle Iroh: Hmm... Delectable tea, or deadly poison?

...

Uncle Iroh: Zuko, remember that plant that I thought might be tea?
Prince Zuko: You didn't.
Uncle Iroh: I did... and it wasn't.
[turns revealing his red, swollen face]
Prince Zuko: Yah!
Uncle Iroh: When the rash spreads to my throat I will stop breathing. But look what I found!
[holds up a branch of berries]
Uncle Iroh: These are pakui berries, known to cure the poison of the white jade plant. That, or makaola berries that cause blindness.

Lol, Mai.

yeah I remember that, thought it was funny. Although I find it had to believe that a tea fanatic would be so bad with plants. (Speaking from experience at least.)

I can't imagine a world famous general and member of the royal family spends a lot of time farming, or foraging... Although once the tea is tea, it becomes a more cultured experience. *shrugs*

It's all good, Iroh winds up taking over the world anyway. biggrin

But this magical knowledge is contained in an item called a book. I assume he can read. Besides in most 'Asian' cultures the brewing of tea is considered a high art.

I assume a book is why he is able to narrow a strange plant far from home down to only two possibilities. As for a high art, that's what I meant. It's typical in far east cultures to be able to brew tea (and often, perform tea ceremonies) but I doubt the actual farming and collecting would be done by someone of such rank and station in life.

Like, a boots on the ground grunt? Are you sure about that?

You do know that he was the rightful fire lord right, and that his brother took the throne instead, right? Young Zuko even as little more than a child was basically equivilent to a general, and was at the war council, so I doubt a rightful heir to the throne was out hoofing it around in a tent somewhere...

But, I'm not entriely certain. *shrugs*

Well, like I said, I'm not sure, but apparently the Dragon of the West who winds up ruling the world doesn't know any better than to ingest poison. :l

Also its a kid show and that is a well used comic device to have a plant either be just what you are looking for or an unspeakably awful poison

I am not saying the world if full of idiots, I am just saying we should remove the warning labels and let the situation resolve itself.

I just like that Azula is supposed to be 'bad' yet she has the mindset necessary to be a truly great leader. She is the perfect Machiavellian leader, she does what is necessary to achieve her goals. However since there is a 'lets all hold hands and be friends' message she seems to be evil.
