Many thought he wore the clothes because he was forced to by previous masters, but that was a lie, he wore it because they had been his clothes for years and years. He used to be the Jester Duke of the Third Layer until he had been betrayed by his own blood and sold into slavery in the Material Plane. He would re-take his position, not only that, he would destroy those who had done this to him, he would tear them apart, destroy everything they cared about, and stand atop their corpses and their ruined kingdoms, he would dance on their graves, and he would laugh. This vampire would not stop him, not her, not her father, not every guard they had.

Dark blood seeped from his wounds until his face was simply a mass of raked flesh and oozing blood. Cross fell still and silent. Perhaps Mikaila had gone too far. Perhaps she had broken her new toy.
