Don't worry about it - I'm almost always late for replies...

And I wouldn't say I know what art pricing goes for. I always price my art in that forum before posting a shop because prices change so much on gaia and my own style changes, plus I'm always afraid to overprice things.

I'll do my best though P:

Okay smile I also do architecture and building designs, so you can keep that in mind as well. I'll draw anything you need.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the proper thread to be posting this, but I enjoy tekteking, if you want to check out some of the avis I've made, just click.

Obviously, my weaknesses are price range and males. And also, don't look on the back page. The quality goes waaaaay downhill. I've gotten way better at tekteking recently.

Ooooh. Those are so lovely~
When we get to choosing our ball outfits that will come in handy!! Even for mules if any of us use them.

Have you checked out the tektek shop that the guild is hosting to raise funds for all the rooms? I would definitely suggest you do if you enjoy tekteking biggrin

Soooooo... I know that I can be very, VERY picky when it comes to graphics and layouts, but I want to know if you guys have some ideas on the layout of the room? If you let me know then perhaps I could combine it with my own (which I may be stubborn about) or even change my mind (maybe!)

Okay! I'll check that out!

And thank you. It would be an honor to be the one to tektek an avi for the official ball hosts c;

I really don't care, as long as it looks nice and won't break my brain. The girl I'm sending the order to is pretty good at following instructions, and really excited that she gets to maybe be a part of it at all. I really have no opinions, but once it's decided what you want, I'll send it along, and then give you her submission for consideration.

Such a late response guys! Unforgivable! XD I was looking for pictures yesterday. My idea is very elegant, ballroom, natural trumpets (the things that go doo doo dooo! in medieval times in case you didn't know) and floral. And slowly, as you go down the post, fades into the water and forest and other things. I'll make a sketch now if you'd like!

BasiWolff

for your artist friend~

This is a template for the idea I have for room graphic layouts.

The Art Nouveau bordering should be gold/white-gold (not a garish, bright gold but something faded and calm like the ornate post style Gaia gives [used in this post.]) I'd like the Art Nouveau bordering to have purple roses entwined in it, looking like these roses.

Inside of the Art Nouveau bordering (which could be assymetrical and only border the top and one side in an 'L' shape or right and bottom, for more room, will be more art nouveau banners to separate: examples.
They should also have purple roses entwined.

Each contest thread will need to have graphics as well, and I'd like those graphics to begin with banners with a violet and gold scheme, looking like the banner at the top of the template in this thread. Flags, banners, borders, will all use this style~

I was hoping you both would still be willing to sketch ideas for the setting? I'm hoping to have a fully fledged picture for the ball graphics once the ball is ready, but for now we're looking for sketches.

here is the planning we have for the setting:

Robayn

An isthmus (for those who aren't all about geography, that's a thin stretch of land [usually fine sand] between two large bodies of water) stretches between two seas - [name] night and [name] day. Dayside is bright, sparkling blue and green waters that stretches far and wide at the base of great, golden mountains. The peaks are crested by clouds which rain down pleasant, warm rain onto the mountains, which then funnels together to form a majestic waterfall. Nightside is dark, bottomless waters that have no end, becoming one with the night sky which sparkles with white and amber colored stars and a constant, violet aurora borealis.

[ image ]

Following the isthmus leads to the castle itself, surrounded by an emerald green forest, which appears to have been lifted from the ground by an invisible hand. Like an uprooted plant, the ground beneath the castle is still attached and hanging like roots with soil. Stairs have been fastened from great boulders, rocks, ropes and wood to lead down to the ground below. The Castle does not float very high (maybe only 20-30 feet) so the trees of the forest reach and, in some cases, look to be attached to the outside walls of the castle. There is no forest beneath the castle, but a meadow that's formed from the absence of the castle and the isthmus leads straight too it as a well traveled road wide enough for carriages and knights. The isthmus would go from sand to dirt to softly trodden grass.

Sample for the Castle Architecture
The castle itself is very realistic. Though it's floating, it's not a fairy-tale style castle.. it's medieval, possibly even gothic.

I'm hoping that very soon we'll have some pictures for you to look at and work with~

You're welcome to go through what I've posted for the art template, but I do understand that you're a graphic artist that works with images, not creates them like a painter or an illustrator, so this is just a heads up so you'll have an idea of what you're working on.

Ok, it's been passed on. And, since she's offered her services for quite a lot more than just the main room posts, would you care to start considering how you'd like your character posts to be decorated? It would make little sense for there to be a kingdom banner above the Prince of Thieves' posts.
Would you rather we all have similar post layouts or can we decide our own?

Also, if you don't mind input, one of the ideas she and I came up with was to include a frame-like thing on one side of character layouts for incorporating the artists' avatar art when things get closer to that point. it would be demonstrated as a JPEG or similar file type, but she'd keep the raw file, as well, so the picture can be put in later.
Of course, if you don't like the idea, that's perfectly understandable.

Finally, whatever you want custom-designed and drawn, please elaborate on so we can make sure it's properly to your specifications.

IMPORTANT EDIT:
Do you want everything digitally drawn and colored? she specializes in photomanipulation and digital finishing/editing, but if you want digital drawings, I need to know so I can do it for her to finish.

I love it! It's very elegant and royal. And I love the purple roses! (Gold and Purple is my character colours... XD)

And thanks so much for everyone that's helping us! I love you all! ^^

I wanted the purple and gold because that's the colours you used in the plot planning subforum when you showed the banner template you doodled in paint - also why the banner in the template I made looks the way it does ^^

I will start thinking of the Prince's posts... I was already thinking of it yesterday, but I'll get something more concrete ironed out. That's if we decide the posting style is necessary. It is a lot to put on one artist to do room art and post styles and everything else, so I would rather do one thing at a time. Not all of us may want to have posting styles, either, or if we do then we might want to have our character art incorporated and we're a long way from getting any character art.

If it comes down to it then posting styles may be up to each of us individually as our avatar outfits are.

I really love the idea of having a frame for characters. To simplify it, she could make it an image that fits with the layout and is aligned either to the right or the left, one of those "L" shaped graphics, and then we don't need to save people's avatars to a file. I like to have a link to avatars so that if we change our outfits during the ball it will reflect that in the image.

I prefer digitally drawn media so that's perfect if that's her specialty! I had imagined the art nouveau style borders and separators custom drawn with the roses, unless someone manages to find something online that would help as stock images. I have nothing against using stock images as I used them a lot in my own art as well.

If it helps, the borders could be more celtic knot style than art nouveau. I had art nouveau fixed in my head but celtic knot is more organic and natural looking than most art nouveau. Both of those styles would be great to reference.

As for the rest, surprise me! I know I said I'm picky, but once I've made up my mind and set up my "order" I am all for artistic freedom.
