*shrug* Could be why I like it, I'm into way too much mecha stuff to be healthy.

Though, back when RT/Macross first came out, I'm not sure there was really enough real robot *to* be truly generic.

There's an artbook coming out later this month that should have good pics and info. Suggested retail price is $20.

Sweetness!! In S.C there were no shadow fighter drones. : also each of the shadows had different heads..............I did not see any Vindicators in there eitheremo:

Vindicators were never canon; they're an invention of the RPG due to a misrepresentation of scale.

Yeah, there were different types of shadow fighters in the movie. For example, Maia's appears to have been a -Z type (the regular Alpha model used by Rook, but upgraded to Shadow for Maia).

Don't forget Scott. razz

Plus, blue was a mass production color for the -6H officer's model Alpha.

Though, Max WAS awesome.

question:
was there really an SDF2 battle fortress?

Yes, canonically there was. In the original Macross it served a very different role than in RT; it was being built on the moon but was left uncompleted until it was refit to become the Megaroad colony ship.

In RT, it was likely somewhere near the SDF-1 when it was attacked by Khyron's cruiser (though this isn't entirely certain). The comics and novels depict it as being back to back with the SDF-01, usually in humanoid mode. It's generally assumed Lisa and her crew were in the SDF-02 when the battle in To The Stars started, and moved over when it was attacked.

Some fans speculate the -02 may have been elsewhere; really the only solid evidence we have is that it was attacked and took on water at the same time that the SDF-01 was attacked. However, the back-to-back explanation is the most accepted and very plausible.
