Personally, I would say have a literacy requirement. Reading posts that read like this:

bob go to tha armary nd look around nd poke swordz i luv swordz he say

Makes me want to gouge out my own ******** eyeballs.

Additionally, I think someone should make a quiz on Quizilla, or a similar site, and have that determine who your deity is based on your answers. Or even an actual questionnaire, rather than what constitutes a little more than a character sheet.

That's my two cents, for now.

I used to edit Kaykeyser's stuff in RPFLA. It's a habit to notice things like that.

I wouldn't say a literacy requirement so much as maybe a thread that has tips and tricks to improving how you RP. Everyone deserves to RP at their skill level, but the more you RP the more you should grow with experience.

But a literacy requirement isn't the way to go about improving the quality of the RPing. That just make a deterrent for those who are willing to learn, but don't have the skills.

True, but if people do not have the skill to write with some literacy, then no matter how much effort they put in they will not write better. For instance, Your example at first was,



If said person who "wrote" this was to put more effort into it, the most he may be able to do is write with proper English, but even then it will still only make up one line and not have any detail. Giving people the ability to learn writing skills will allow them to progress as a writer and add in the things that they couldn't before like... What he was wearing, the actions it took for him to get to the sword, the curiosity in the sword that made him feel like poking it in the first place, and perhaps even the tone of voice he spoke in when making his comment to no one in particular besides himself.
