Caine grins as he completes his summoning. It was time to make things really fun.
As the air around Caine grows even darker, a large, fiery pit opens at his feet. The ground rumbles slightly and fire comes licking out of the newly opened hole, followed by a swarm of hellish looking bats. From amongst the flames and the swarm, A demonic, winged woman flies into the air, turning her head slightly and winking suggestively at Caine, whose grin widens in response. She flies a few feet forward, hovering just above the ground with her hand on her hip. She looks at the assassin and smiles evilly, then flies at full speed towards her, her clawed hands ready to swipe.

Miles landed her hit, though not where she aimed for it to be. She flinched away from the sparks coming from the wound and was already backing off from instinct of keeping distance between her and her enemies. The weakened assassin let out a horrid sound once she fell to the ground. Miles couldn't tell what was happening, but the smoke coming from slots in the mask let her feel like it was over.

It did take an edge of her wariness but there was no making it go away. Not right then, especially not with a guarantee of death. Even stronger than that, she was worried about Alexandrov. Passing by his gunblade, she left that there and knelt near him to cast her Cure spell. The throat-slicing motion wasn't lost on her, but she wouldn't leave him there when she couldn't tell how much pain he was in.

When Miles turned around again to re-join the fight, there was a fire pit at Caine's feet and the darkness was worse than she remembered it. The quakes in the ground were quickly adapted to on her part but the bats were altogether new.

A scantly clad woman followed them and she only stood and stared in confusion and a bit of shock. She wasn't too keen on the Guardian, but she seemed to be ready to finish off their mutual enemy. In the meantime, Miles didn't want to be too far from Alexandrov in case he needed protection or more help.

((Sorry, so sorry...I got really busy at the last second...my parents have time off of work and they're all "family time" crazy. And just so you know, that means I won't be able to post tomorrow until early nighttime.))

((No worries! ;D ))

The assassin didn't move as the Guardian materialized, but only hissed into a light laughter, "I hope you can all run fassst...For when my heart ssstopss..." She hissed into another laugh which turned into a louder uproar of laughing as the GF charged at the fallen assassin who remained in her defeated position, her chest heaving from the hiss-filled laughter.

She could be bluffing, but she wasn't even trying to counter the GF. She wasn't bluffing - she was waiting for it to kill her. And Alexei didn't want to find out what would happen then. Unable to tell them all to run, he grabbed Miles by the shoulder and shoved her away, back towards the path down the mountain, while holstering the gunblade he had in hand. He dashed for the other one, grabbing the hilt as he slid towards it like a baseball player running for home. He used his good hand, and had to awkwardly slot it into the holster across his body as he stood up.

Then he remembered his rifle - he had to get that too, it was a really damn rare sniper rifle. He bolted towards it, and if Caine wasn't already running, Alexei grabbed him by the arm and pulled him away as well before snatching up his rifle from the ground without even stopping. They'd have to run along the ravine wall, they likely wouldn't have time to climb down, and he wasn't going to trust the ravine to save them from whatever happened when the assassin died.

Caine got the feeling that whatever was about to happen was going to be deadly, and he was instantly worried about his Guardian. When Alexei grabs his arm, Caine pulls away and stands his ground.
"Lilith!! Stop!" he calls as he watches her speed toward the assassin.
"Just go Caine. I have sworn to protect you, so get out of here," she replies, hesitating for a moment.
"But Lilith..."
"NOW!!!" Lilith bellows, cutting Caine off.
Caine sighs in frustration, knowing he would never convince her to retreat, and he begins to sprint after Alexei. As Lilith approaches the assassin, she lets out a frightening scream of rage, and begins furiously swiping her razor sharp, clawed hands at the woman, trying to tear her into pieces.

Miles felt she knew what would happen next. As some sort of fail safe, the assassin had rigged herself up to do serious damage in the event that she died before she reached Balamb. Which she would end up doing in but a few seconds. And there she was, frozen in confusion and fear. Did it even matter if she ran? She didn't know the answer and neither did she care.

Alexandrov apparently caught onto this as well and although he startled her, she was already ready to run when he grabbed her shoulder and pushed her to the path down the mountain. She took one glance behind her as she went ahead and saw him go back for his weapons and for Caine.

And she wanted to go back for them too. There was no logic or reason for it, but everything in her compelled her to stay with her team. Loyalty won out over her intuition--she knew that shove toward the exit was just as much an order as any vocal command would have been.

Alexei ran hard, but didn't let the others get behind him. If either started to lag, he grabbed them by the arm or pushed them from behind. They needed to be far away before the assassin 'went off', whatever that entailed.

He stopped and turned for just a moment, holding his rifle by the fore grip as he squinted to watch the end of the assassin.

The assassin continued to laugh, feeling the inevitable end approaching soon...but atleast she'd go out with a bang. Hearing the horrid scream of rage erupt from the Guardian Force. It was then she felt razor sharp claws tear away at the armor and cloak that had once covered her.

It revealed an blackened-ironclad bodysuit, various inscriptions and ancient numerals lined the chest plate as a golden orb sat in the middle of her bust. As the claws sunk in deeper through her armor, the laughs had turned into cries of agony, feeling the flesh tear away from her body. It wasn't until blood filled her throat that she gurgled the word.

"Ultima..."

Her body would ignite into a large blast of green-plasma; a heat level that would rival a supernova fired in a splash, aiming to swallow anything within a 60 foot radius.

((I hope that seems reasonable...I mean...you DO have GF's for a reason...amIright? cool I just wanted her to go out with a bang.))

From the glances she took behind her, Miles could see Alexandrov at the back and Caine between her and him. His Guardian was dealing the deathblow to the assassin and Miles had to wonder if a Guardian Force could die. Hers rarely showed up and wasn't the combative kind, so she could only hope that Caine's would survive.

...Even though it wasn't very likely. So many people from Balamb grew a close bond with their Guardian and she couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose such a constant companion. From what she'd gathered, they were always there for others who had them. To go from a lifestyle where there was always someone with you to one without their voice in your head could not be an easy obstacle to overcome.

As if in response to the suffering she'd caused, the assassin's laughter could still be heard at this distance. It was faint but scathing nonetheless. Soon, though, she was drowned out by the sound of her own death. Wind tore past the group towards the assassin and when Miles glanced behind her, she stared in awe at the growing light above where her body must be.

It grew so strong that she had no choice but to turn away and only felt the force of the blast from so far away. Thankfully, she was distant enough to be hit only by the residual force of the spell and not the spell itself...even so, it was nothing to be scoffed at. Miles was thrown to the ground by it and felt the smothering heat pass over her even though she was guarding her face with her arms.

She waited a few seconds after it was gone and got onto her knees. "Alexandrov...? Caine?" It was painfully terrible to not be able to see her comrades through the dusty air. Miles struggled to push down her alarm and continue searching for them. Standing up, she carefully moved along without lifting her feet so she wouldn't fall by accident. The mountain's surface could have changed in so many ways after such an explosion and she didn't want to fall and hurt herself if the others were waiting out there. "Are either of you hurt?"

((It was reasonable. Fun, even! This is a SeeD exam, after all, there should be a nice challenge at the end!))

Caine feels his way blindly down the path, having still been effected by the blind spell. When the ultima spell goes off however, he sees a flash of light through the darkness, and stops dead in his tracks, worried about Lilith. He isn't standing for long though, as the force of the blast knocks him off his feet as well. He lands hard on the ground, still unable to see anything. After a moment he pushes himself up, hearing Miles speak.
"I'm fine.." he says, his thoughts on his GF.
He could feel small rocks and dust falling in the air around them, and though he couldn't see he knew the blast must have been devastating.
