Luc's playful demeanor faded after Seth's tough talk sank in. She seems to know a lot about me for not knowing about Draven. I don't get it, where would she find all of this out? And what is that thing, it looks like a blunderbuss with extra barrels... His confusion over the weapon Seth held up faded quickly as it had a trigger and barrel system much like any other firearm. He dove for cover, curling past a plinth but catching some shot in his leg. Luc let out a wail of agony from the feeling of shot puncturing his flesh and bone. Out of view, he continued to crawl, shifting some of the light to give him view of Seth again, He cast another bolt of light from his right hand as he lay in the grass. He couldn't curve his crossbow bolts or slingshot pellets but he could direct his light bolts any way he wanted, so he curved the volatile sphere of light around the plinth and toward Seth.

Luc's leg was recovering rapidly from the many holes in it but at that point not enough for him to put his full weight on it yet. He still couldn't stand up and could only continue trying to crawl away. The redirected light reflection he had been using as a mirror revealed to him that Seth was approaching quickly. Pointing one finger at the corner of the plinth, he charged enough energy to fire a laser from his finger tip, hoping to strike Seth with it as she rounded the corner.

Flailing and rolling about in agony, Luc screamed out as the flames began to blanket him. "No! Get away! GET AWAY!" He shouted. From deep within his powers manifested entering a chaotic frenzy only further fueled by Luc's panic. Luc began to emit a much greater glow than that which faded earlier. His figure became indistinguishable from the light that began to pour out from him. The volatile energy that welled up within him reached a breaking point and poured out in all directions as a violent explosion which rocked the tower and sent fragments of the roof gardening and bricks flying everywhere. From the cloud of smoke emerged a bright spherical flash which consumed the entire roof giving it a brief appearance of a candle glow.

The tower garden was now a dusty ruin of rubble and displaced planter sod draped within a cloud of dust. As the haze began to clear, Luc slowly stood up in the crater. His clothing had been burned, much of it completely away by the flames. His leg healed up enough for him to stand and walk again. As the burns began to clear away, Luc began to stagger toward the stairs leading back to the tower interior. He was entranced and seeing images, as he began to mumble, "Are... Are you gonna kill me too?", his very first words. The face of that massive dark man stood clear in his mind, and the faces of those who he saw struck down around him. His first memories, fairly terrifying memories.

Luc's eyes were glazed in trance until that piercing mocking voice came streaming into his ears. He shook his head and stood up straight as he came to his senses. The irritation came seeping back, but only to be doused as something clicked in his mind. Luc turned to Seth and smiled, before tossing off the remaining half of his robe. His burns were gone, but his robe was badly damaged, his trousers tattered beyond repair, and his harness holding itself together with the hopes and dreams of the few leather fibers still attached. "Yeah, I'm done." He smiled, before turning and continuing toward the stairs at a more comfortable pace. "Lets play again tomorrow," he waved before starting down the stairs to the tower interior.

Seth spent a good half of her trip down the tower running down the side and keeping with her momentum. She jumped off and dove down for most of the remainder, arcing and leveling off before she would hit the ground. She flew a short distance just above the ground to slow down then took a tumble to a stop.

A large segment of that plinth that Luc had crawled behind was sitting on the ground near her and appeared to have something embedded in it. "Huh?" Seth thought aloud as she approached the busted plinth. The object looked to be part of a rod or handle. The chunk of marble plinth itself looked heavily cracked and would likely break with a few hard hits. Seth drew Eclipse, her now faintly glowing b*****d sword from over her shoulder and slashed down on the marble. She took a few hard swings from side to side, then a short flip and chop downward on the cracked section in the plinth. Each strike opened the cracks further until the last strike crushed apart the stone face and allowed gravity to take the shattered bits away. A fairly simple looking knight's sword lay in the opened hollow of the plinth.

And what have we here? Seth thought as she reached for the handle of the blade and took it. She put away Eclipse and held up the once buried sword. It had a hilt guard that curved up like a wide and shallow "W", a simple leather handle grip, a round blue gem at the base of the blade, and the blade itself started broad and got narrower toward the tip and had a narrow fuller running from the gem to about three quarters of the way to the tip of the blade. "Hmm? This gem looks like materite. I could have dad look at it later." Seth held up the sword and pointed to the tower, thinking back. Luc DID destroy the plinth that contained it. It seemed like a complete coincidence. He couldn't have known about that blade being there. If he did, he'd just have used it. Taking it at face value Seth decided that this would be the 'reward' Luc promised for catching him. "Thanks for the reward... ya douchebag." Giving the new sword a place next to Eclipse, Seth started walking toward the tower entrance on the other side, figuring it should be facing an entrance to the main castle.

Kel came running from the main castle toward the main entrance to the tower of light. A bit off to the side from the doorway he spotted his daughter, who seemed to be milling about the rubble strewn about the foot of the tower. "Seth!" He called out as he came closer. He was relieved to see his daughter wasn't atop the tower in that cloud and hurt.

Seth looked up confused at first before spotting her father running up to her in a huge hurry. "Dad?" She took a step to turn and face him as he got up fairly close.

Kel dropped to his knees and hugged Seth tightly. "I'm so glad you're safe. I was worried." He said in relief. Seth looked a bit dirty but still okay.

Seth patted her father's back and looked a bit down. She felt a bit guilty for causing him to panic, which was incredibly rare with him. Still it was easy to tell by how tightly he clutched her.

Emeriss slowed down and came to a halt coming out of the castle as she saw some of the mess of brick and stone strewn about the area around the tower of light. After setting Draven down and taking her by the hand again, Emeriss slowly walked toward the man who looked to be knelt over something near the tower entrance.
