As the girl sat up, taking the gold, she looked at the woman, and man, not sure how to react to strangers. " Th-thanks..." She said, walking away. As Alex pocketed his 2400, he walked next to her, and handed her 600. " No one deserves this kind of life. I don't know your circumstances, but i think you could do better than the grado dogs. You look like one of the Renais, so help your country. The girl looked at him, suprised. " How did you know?" Taking the second heap of gold. " You don't have the snot nosed look about you." He said, smiling. The girl walked to the tavern, and alex mused. " We were heading in the same direction, interesting. Lisa! Tell all the other men to take a bet, and keep their arms, we attack in an hour." He whispered.

"Right," Lisa said, bored. Sarcastically, she added to herself, "I'll just go take care of the other idiots while you go flirt with the crying girl. Because of course I have nothing better to do." She told a handful of the mercenaries to pass the word to stay ready, then went and found some of the funnier ones and they went to a shop and bought an entire cooked chicken. Eating a large chunk with her fingers, Lisa mused, "So how much money do you think those soldiers get payed? I mean, it must not be lot if they don't even have doctors to check who's a girl..."

Actually, they don't get paid at all." Alex said, contemplating taking a piece. " They get paid in honor, and familial protection. That's why some of the closer villages are never heard from. They don't need mercenaries." Alex looked over at the girl, with an odd look. Something about her just wasn't right, she was crying a few minutes ago, and now she was laughing it off. He used a small wind magic to send the words their way, and this is what was heard.
" Works every time. Pulling the fake soldier routine is the best gig we've had in years! We can take advantage of those stupid grado's, and even stupider mercenaries. CHEERS to the good life lads."
With a raised eyebrow, he looked over at Lisa. " You thinking what i'm thinking?

"Not really," Lisa said. "I'm thinking that you're going to over react. But go ahead, it's entertaining."

Oh it'll be entertaining. " Alex gave an aggrivated look, and walked over to the table. Standing behind the girl, the men with her began to stare and sink into their chairs. " What, you guys scared of a grado impersonator?" She asked them, laughing. She threw her head back, and saw him. " Oh..." Alex slammed his hand down, and held on to her wrist. " Grado impersonator eh? This is what we do to those who try and cheap shot the Renais mercenary's." He took out his sword, and lit it with fire style magic. He held it near her hand, motioning making a cut.

Eating another piece of chicken, Lisa played with the hilt of her sword. She didn't care about her money, honestly. Other than their honor as a group, she would have let the girl get away with it. As a firm believer in Karma, Lisa figured the girl would get run over by a herd of cows or something eventually. Or maybe Alex was her Karma-redemption... Changing the subject before she got her headache, Lisa said outloud, "So, after this battle I think I'll go take a nap..."

The girl was wide eyed and crying, pleading him not to. With a grin, he tugged the girl out of her seat, and shoved her in lisa's direction. " Tell the others, we just got a thief in our service. If she tries anything... well, she knows. " He let fire burn over his sword again momentarily. " And, after we're done, i don't think we'd even have to leave, these locals look like they'd be glad to rid themselves of these pests."

Erik's curiosity got the better of him. Using his magic to light a candle he found on the table, he slowly opened the drawer, expecting to find a bag of gold, or at least a hidden weapon he could sell. To his surprise, all that lay in the drawer was a small leather bound black book, its cover blank save for the fine layer of dust that covered it. "Well that's a let down," he remarked, picking it up and flipping through the pages. Each page was adorned with either words written in gold ink, or pictures sketched with charcoal. "If anything else, it'll make a good fire..."

While Alex and lisa were having their simple chaotic moments taking a theif into their custody as he walked up into their range finally having a cloak on his form looking at them. "So what are we gonna use a thief for?" He had already unsheathed Hekireki and looked over at Lisa as if he was asking for some battle instruction or something of that nature. "Hnn."

Lisa shrugged and looked over the girl. "We'll find a use for her, especially since she won't be getting paid." Pondering something, Lisa decided, "Actually, she can start by dealing with the after-battle-scrounging. That might make her stop wanting to cause people grief."

That it would... " Alex gave an evil grin to the girl, who then cringed. She shook her head. " I... I can fight, please, give me a chance!" Alex smiled, and shooed her away, and talked to lisa. " Is everyone already in position?"

"Yes," Lisa said, deciding not to be sarcastic at this point. She looked around and checked her sword quickly before adding, "We're all ready to go."

Then it looks to me... that we should start. " He said, letting his sword out with a small chnk. " Get our thieves to rush everyone out of town before attacking.)

"Right," Lisa said, moving away towards the shady-looking man who was their head thief. "You're up," she told him briskly. "Get the villagers out of the area then wait to see if we need you. And after this, we've got a new recruit for you--feel free to give her the grunt work." He nodded in a business-like manner and soon the theives were moving, clearing confused people out of the mercenaries way.

As the mercenaries began to form up, Alex broke them into groups, Mages and archers rushed into the arena as the swordsmen began to raid the structures filled with grados. They left everything in tact. Alex saw to it that each team had a healer before delving into the fight himself. He hadn't a need for a healer or team. As three soldiers rushed him with spears he barrel rolled, quickly getting up to his feet, and catching one of them with a fire cast.
