((Ya keep ninja'ing in these posts while I'm not looking! How you do that!?))

New Gaebril Waymeet Inn

--- "I still have quite a few rations on hand, but honestly, if it isn't a burden, then extra supplies are always welcome indeed," Coralie replied as she jumbled her thoughts around from the exchange. As well as securing the vagrant coin purses away. She kept the smile on for show of course as well.

--- She wasn't sure about the Nubian who followed her here, whether or not she would try following her again, but Coralie was ready to get under way. She had a pack and everything, so she'd camp by the lake if need be... or make a torch and check the ruins out tonight.

"Well, supply-wise, I have dried beef, dry rice, several loaves of wheat bread, some honey... well, I have a lot of things, and know several people who have more..." he stopped a moment, checking his pockets, and pulled out a smallish piece of hide-paper. "Here, it's faster if I just give you this."

You can see 2 columns on the paper, but can't yet read it, as the script is cramped and uneven.

New Gaebril Waymeet Inn

--- A change from trail rations wouldn't be bad for a time, "I doubt I'll need much, but a few loaves, chunks of cheese and cured beef 'll do if you'll tally that up. Don't need but two or three light meals worth, need to stay light..." Then she added humorously after seeing the scrap of paper and its script, "And perhaps a translator for this scrap here. I'm sure I'll decipher it in time though, hmm."

((I figured I'd give you choices... always fun to make people think!))

New Gaebril Waymeet Inn

--- Quickly scanning the list (now that she can read it) she decided the regular bunch would do, "Bread, cheese, jerky, apples and ten tea packets. Twenty-one silver, eighty two copper." Coralie even added the last aloud as she went through the math quickly, fishing twenty two silver out. "As far as waybread, I will tell you. A month of bland bread is enough to drive even this elf crazy."

"Well, the only time I had any, it was sweet... but to each their own," he replied, accepting your coin. "I'll go get your purchases, just a minute."

It actually took about 5 minutes, which you rather expected.

((Off I go, to steal from the wonderful wizard of Oz! Or the Ruins, whichever presents their pockets first! Speaking of purses, if you would be so kind as to oblige me to a few purses outside of the Inn, I'd like to search the area for a) reassure myself what time of day it is, because I forgot, b) find this mountain the Innkeeper speaks so 'highly' of (Hyuk hyuk!), and c) establish a decent traveling purse. ;b ))

New Gaebril Waymeet Inn

--- Whenever someone says just a minute, they usually mean five. She should know, being guilty of it herself sometimes. Once the Innkeeper was back she thanked him with a gracious nod and a smile, even sparing a small wave as she left the rich merchant Inn. She'd spent a pretty coin or two. Investments for the future, but traveling costs money. And Coralie had an eye for money...

--- ...But definitely not for time, as she looked around to get her bearings straight...

((Ya know, I was just thinking what it'd be like to fail one of these. That's what I get for tempting fate. Hit me!))

Coralie could easily see the mountain, and tell that she had just enough daylight left to get well into the forest before dark. As to any possible income sources, most of those rushing around wore arms of one sort or another, and all of them seemed to know what to do with them.

As she was looking around, a low horn sounded twice quickly, and then once more. This seemed to be a signal, as anyone not wearing weapons quickly made their way inside, and all the rest of the people started running to the walls. One woman, in full plate mail with a large, gem-studded sword on her back, saw Coralie, and came over quickly.

"Get to the gate, girl. Didn't you hear the alarm?" She didn't seem the type to take no for an answer, and waited impatiently for Coralie to go.

((This won't end well I gather. ))

New Gaebril Waymeet Inn

--- She figured she'd need to hit up the gate anyway. It sounded like it'd be exciting to say the least and either fortunately or unfortunately Coralie would have plenty of support around her. So she shrugged, loosened her longswords and followed along.

--- "Yes ma'am." She said as she saluted smartly and hopped in step.

The woman quickly overtook Coralie. "What's your unit, girl? Who's your commander?" The questions were delivered sharply, without even turning her head.

They rapidly passed the commerce district, and made their way through residential buildings. The entire town looked like it was built for defense, with each roof lower than the one before it, and all of them tiled and nearly level, many with ladders reaching ground level. Some already held groups of archers already, as though the commanders expected either a break-though, or and aerial assault.

((Action!))

New Gibrael Waymeet Inn

--- "None and not applicable. Just a newly arrived traveler with a sword arm. Trifling details." Coralie delivered casually, taking in the sights of New Gibrael at war. She figured she could still slip away already if needbe.

--- She was honestly numb at this point though. Blissfully clear of thoughts. The full meaning of what was happening would hit her later.

"Well then, why didn't you say so? You're supposed to be safe in a room... Eh, you seem like you've seen action before... Just follow me, and stay nearby. It shouldn't be too bad, this time..." The woman trailed off as they reached the end of the buildings, and mounted steps to the battlements. From here Coralie could see that their opponents were.... animals?

((Correction. Bestiality!))

New Gibrael Waymeet Inn

--- "I did not say so until now, so I would not have to interrupt you. Nor bother you with troublesome questions. You're welcome." Coralie otherwise kept her lid shut and stuck close. She could make out animals. No clue yet as to what kind of animals. But animals nonetheless.

--- ...Maybe she shouldn't have bought the jerky, what with all the fresh meat being rush delivered...

((More of a wait post, not much I can say or do at a distance.))

On closer inspection, what seemed to be a solid mass of animals showed to have a sprinkling of humanoid forms. Assuming those forms were roughly the same size as as human, the animals were... huge. Boars twice the size of a man, wolves the size of small horses, and above, birds that cast shadows that dwarfed the defenders (no pun intended).

After a few more moments, the animals actually formed into a semblance of ranks, tallest first, and charged towards the wall. Arrows rained down, but had no visible effect, except where one animal stopped, and rubbed its head, trying to dislodge an arrow from it's nose or eye.

The largest of the boar were concentrated on the gate, under Coralie. Their impact was reminiscent of an earthquake she had once had the misfortune to be in, with the crackle of stressed wood and the shriek of tearing steel thrown in. The rest were used by wolves as jumping-platforms, in an effort to scale the wall. Several succeeded, and began to savage their way around. One came up not far away, into a group of bowmen. The woman in plate mail charged the nearest wolf with a battle cry, drawing her sword, which seemed to catch the light.

((Sent ya a PM a while back...))

New Gibrael Waymeet Inn

--- Battlecries and charges are all fine and dandy... but not Coralie's thing. If you're going to attack, do it fast, without warning, sort of like how all these creatures rushed in. Except they were apparently predictable.

--- All said and done, Coralie progressed cautiously after Ms. Mail with bared blades and eyes peeled. Strategic exits were quite important and could be missed if you weren't careful.
