Alice laughed at the teacher's cursing. It was nice to hear them loosening up.

Ben glared at the stupid man. "So you're going to let an idiot tell you what to do? Even if you're okay with that, you need to enlighten the idiots! Nothing would ever get done in the world if idiots were left as idiots. We need to go tell him what's going on so he can let us out. If anything we should manipulate him to do the right thing!"

On second thought, maybe this was serious. Ben seemed really upset.

A couple students cheered as Mr. Youngblood let loose an F-bomb. Laura had to cross her arms and grin. "Mr. Youngblood, we've been wrong about you all along. But you're right. We've gotta stick together. But we dunno about you guys, but we ain't getting stuck in here!" Laura climbed on top of a lab table.

"We are not going to let ourselves be snowed in! Because you know what happens if we get snowed in? We'll tell you what!" Laura motioned to the rest of her class with her umbrella. "We'll be trapped in here like animals! And we'll die like animals! This is Georgia! In the middle of summer! There won't be any road salts or snow plows or anything to get us out if we get snowed in! We'll be trapped as long as this unnatural snow keeps going on!"
This wasn't typical behavior for Laura. But she knew that things were going to s**t fast, and they needed to get out of here.

"Anyone who doesn't want to freeze to death, come with us!" Laura yelled, and jumped off of the lab table back onto the floor. A couple students looked among themselves.

"I dunno..."

"But Mr. Youngblood said the principal's a ******** idiot..."

"Yeah, but he said to stick together too!"

Laura narrowed her eyes before running out of the classroom door.

Matt shouts, "finally, something interesting! Well, are going to stay here, or are we going to be stuck here for god knows how long? oh yea, and Mr. Youngblood, you are a fun teacher now." And he runs out, following luara.

“Matt, Laura. Get back in here.” Mr. Youngblood yelled as the two ran out the door. “And Ben, I know he is an idiot, but think logically. We don’t have any winter gear, we don’t know how bad it is elsewhere, and we don’t know if it isn’t buried already. This will be the best place for know. We will just have to wait it out. I don’t know about you but I’m not freezing to death out there. Now stay here. I will be right back.” Mr. Youngblood walks out of the room following the two kids who left, checking with other class rooms along the way.

Laura glared as she saw Mr. Youngblood following her and Matt.

"Matt, glad to see you agree with us, even if the rest of the class is a bunch of sheep. We knew we'd need someone outside the rules to get through a situation like this. Now we've just gotta ditch Mr. Youngblood. The doors are going to be snowed over very quickly. If we get dragged off now, we'll never make it outside," Laura said. She did something she had never done before and slid down the stair railing to get ahead a bit.

Laura wasn't too worried about the cold. She wore winter clothing regularly as a fashion. It set her apart, and most people thought she was too weird to talk to anyways, what with her odd speaking habits and her cold attitude toward people. She was worried about Matt, he would prove useful if things got worse, she knew, but he wasn't dressed in the proper gear. No one was. If the school's heater failed after it was snowed in, at least half of the students would freeze to death. That was how serious this was.

She wasn't so stupid for wearing winter clothes now.

She stopped as she got sight of the doors. Or what had once been doorways to the outside. Now the doors only opened out to a wall of snow.

"Matt! Shove these bastards open, now!" Laura screamed.

Ben stared after the man like a starving man tipping over the edge. "The buses have heaters! Teachers have cars! How do you expect me to believe that there's absolutely nothing we can do?" But it was no good. Youngblood was already out the door, chasing the crazy kids who left. Ben plopped dejectedly in his seat. No one ever defied him like that, he controlled them, everyone listened to him. He was smart, he knew everything. What if he didn't have any power after al?

NO!
He couldn't start thinking like that. That led to despair, despair led to breakdowns, breakdowns led to the place, oh god oh god oh god-stop it. You're fine. Use them; use them for your own gain.

He looked up at the confused classroom around him and smoothed back his lank hair. This was merely another game to play; just another formula to figure out. He could play these confused kids off themselves like pieces on a chess board.

"Everyone!" he called, standing up and raising his arms. "Please listen to me. I have a plan; all you have to do is listen to what I say. Then we can get out of here, go home, and sit in warm homes. We can-"

"I'm not listening to a ******** weirdo!" A bulky kid stood up, his crew cut hair looking like spikes in its gel. "I don't know about you guys, but if we're gonna be set free, then I'm outta here." Cheers met this kid. He waved his arms up and down, playing the crowd.

"No!" cried Ben, the terror coming back in force. "If we split up we'll never make it! We have to go to the buses..." No-one was listening to him. The big kid had marched out in the middle of Ben's words, taking most of the classroom's population with him. Ben was left gasping at an empty room, left alone to face his own demons.

Minutes passed. He sat down and put his head in hands. Everything was wrong. He had no way of getting home, and it was all thanks to the idiots in charge. How? This freak event could only be the work of the government; the "classified" project just south of the town was the new town gossip topic. Housewives were talking about in feverish abandon as if it was someone's thirteen-year-old getting pregnant instead of a quiet government base. Oh, but, Mrs. Leary would say, they're never quiet, are they, dear? No they're not, and that's why he was in this s**t-covered fan right now. Not to mention the other idiots in authority who refused to let him get himself out of a dangerous situation.

There were only two solutions to this; join them, or rebel.

A pencil skittered on the floor next to him. Alice had come in during his reverie and was walking towards him with slow, careful steps. "Aren't you going to do anything?" she asked, tentative and shy.

"Yes." Ben stood up and looked at her, his face turning into a grin that sent cold slivers into her spine. "Yes, I am." He leaned onto the desk between them, propping himself up with stiff arms, still grinning that crazy, that downright scary grin. "How would you like to raise some hell?"

Mr. Youngblood had checked all the rooms on the way. They all were fine, sure the kids were freaked out as hell but they listened for any orders. “Matt, Laura.” He saw Laura slide down the railing. “Fine, see if I care.” Jake mumbled to himself. He turned around and started heading back to his class. He noticed a mob of his own students coming towards him. “Stop.” The students froze in place as they realized they had gone the wrong way. “Back to class.” He escorted them back to the class being ever so watchful to make sure none were running. After a little bit of walking the big guy came up.
“Mr. Youngblood, you can’t expect us to just stay here.”
“Aww, That is where you are wrong, Alex.” Jake had turned around at this point to face him. “Now back to class.”Jake had lifted his arm and pointed down to the room.
Alex was fed up with following the orders, especially of a teacher he could easily take. He was on the wrestling team, the football team, he even took martial arts. He could easily knock him out in no time. He went to throw a punch at Mr. Youngblood.
Jake had caught the movement in his arm and just managed to move it out of the way. “Need I remind you, even if you think I can be taken out by you? Just think again.

"There's no way I can open those." Matt says, "But if we get upstairs, then maybe we can get out a window." Matt quickly checks his mental map of secret passegeways. "The best exodus point would be the library windows, but i need to get to my locker first." "just trust me." he says before she can say anything, than he turns and runs towards his locker.

Alice nodded. "Yes," she whispered. This kid was scary as hell, but that didn't mean she was going to sit around and wait for the snow to pile up. "What are we going to do?"

"We're going to collect some weapons. We'll need those for later, when the rest of the kids break out. Then we'll-" Ben snapped his head to the door, listening.

Alice heard it too; the sound of a classroom full of disappointed kids coming down the hall.

"Idiots," Ben hissed under his breath. "They must have followed Youngblood and gotten caught. Let's go." He ran to the door, bending to scoop up his backpack first.

"Wait." Alice went to her own backpack, but only pulled out her trombone mouthpiece. "It's a good weapon," she whispered at his confused glare.

They went into the hallway, checking both ways first. The sound was obviously coming from the left, around the corner. They went down the right side, running on their tip-toes in order to keep quiet. They rounded the far just in time; behind them, they could hear yells, catcalls, and the teacher trying to quiet them down.

"Hopefully we'll be missed," said Ben, still whispering.

"Most likely. You almost never talk."

"Not really. My latest outburst will make him suspicious, which means we only have so much time to get weapons and hide. We also have to avoid administrators and custodians."

They moved quickly, walking like they weren't fugitives to prevent suspicion. The red and white tile floor was littered with paper and dirt that baked under the florescent sun. All was quiet.

Alice walked behind Ben, keeping a wary eye out for adults. "Why don't we just leave the building?" she asked.

"Because we have no way of getting home besides walking, which would be too freakin' cold. Besides, the snow is falling so fast that it's probably already snowed us in."

"How did you jump from "let authority do its job boy" to "let's kill these mothers"?"

Ben looked over his shoulder warily. He didn't trust this mini-thug, despite the fact that she had been the only one to follow him. She held a nervous kind of air, like she could snap at any moment. There was no telling what could happen then. "I got tired of listening to imbeciles."

They rounded another corner, giving it a quick check before going on. The school was built in a square shape, with two floors. It was built on a hill; thus, the top floor started on ground level, then grew to be above ground level. The bottom was below ground then went to ground level towards the back of the school. They were currently near the front of the school, about to cross the front steps.

Ben coughed, letting loose a series of hacks that resounded down the hallway. "Crap."

"Jeez, can you cough any louder?"

"Sorry. I have sinus crud."

"Well, keep it on the down low. If I get thrown out of school then I'm screwed for the rest of my life. Not all of us have money to fall back on."

Ben whipped around, anger scorching across his pale features. "Don't you dare talk to me that way! I don't give a flying monkey s**t what you think. I'm the brains of this operation, and don't you forget it!"

Alice flinched back in surprise and fear. "What the freak, man. All I said was be quiet."

"Do you want to be left behind?"

Alice shook her head.

"Good. Then follow me and keep your opinions to yourself."

"Fine." a*****e, she thought.

Laura groaned, then followed after Matt. She had to trust him for now. She was the brains, he was the brawn. He obviously knew the school layout as well as she did, which helped.

"Wait!" She suddenly called as she heard coughing from a lot further down the hallway. Then came the voices of two people she remembered from Mr. Youngblood's class. One of them was that one rich kid who had been one of the more vocal ones before she and Matt ran out of the room. From the sound of things, Ben and Alice weren't getting along too well.

Laura turned to Matt. "Let's take a different path," she whispered.

*Maria rolls her eyes. She gets up during the confussion of the class, and left the class room without anyone seeing her. She made sure no one in the halls or other class rooms saw her. Maria though to herself* I'll just go to my hideing spot, that now seems to see ever. It'll be a lot better than being around those annoying people. *Maria looked back a couple of times just to make sure, she wasn't being followed. She opens a sceret hatch, goes in and closes it behind her makeing sure she it closed all the way. Cause once it was no one else is allowed in.*

"Alright, follow me." He turns and walks down a row of lockers, opens one, and pulls out some glo-sticks and a flashlight. he hands the flashlight to luara and pulls her over to the end of the lockers, which have a hollow spot in thaem. He goes inside and pulls her in to, after which, he covers the entrance whith a peice of metal. "There, that should work." He cracks two of the glo-sticks and proceeds down the dark secret passage.

Alice watched him run around in front of her for a while, swiftly getting bored with this whole charade. After his fifth attempt trying a locked door she spoke up. "What are you looking for?"

"Weapons."

"Then shouldn't we go into an unused classroom?"

"I'm looking for chemicals."

"Then you want a janitor closet. Come on, I know a quick way to one." Alice ducked down a small hallway. They quickly came upon the bandroom. High trills from flutes and clarinets came from behind the double doors and underlying tuba and trombone pounded the air. She ducked around the corner just beside the doors and went down the Band/Orchestra hall. She ducked into the old girls theatre changing room. It was used by the color guard now.

"There's a passage in here that leads out to the front lobby of the school."

Ben snapped his head up, confused. "There's a secret passage in the school?"

"Yeah. A lot."

"Why?"

Alice sighed. "I can't believe you don't know this. You know how this school's all old and stuff?"

He nodded.

"It used to be a marine base. They had all these passages that got left in when the school was built in. They just added around them, widened some hallways, and put in a few classrooms. Everybody knows it."

"What? This is ridiculous."

"Do you have a better idea?" She looked up at the ceiling and pointed at a spot. "This is the way. Come on." She pulled a small knife out of her pocket, grabbed a chair, stood on it, and slit a square shape into the yellow paint job on the ceiling. She pressed on it with both palms. A small door lifted up and she ducked inside, still beckoning with her hand.

Ben climbed inside, wondering why she had a knife on her. They moved on through the passage. The ceiling was low enough to make them crawl, and it was so dark that he couldn't see the hand in front of his face. After a short while he could hear the hum of a heater off to his left.

"Hey," he said, noticing an incongruency. "If this a leftover passage then why is it so short?"

Alice grunted ahead of him. "There used to be three levels to the base. They just filled in most of the space between the two, which left a network of small passages. It's pretty cool once you think about it."

"Yeah, I suppose so."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 3:35 pm

After a little bit they stopped. Ben sat down and huffed while Alice slit another hole in the ceiling. He was not used to so much physical exertion.

He squinted up at her in the gloom, but it was too dark to see anything. All he could hear was the hum of the air conditioner and small grunts from Alice as she worked to open the door. "How do know where the hole is in this dark?" he asked, waving his hand around.

"I don't. I do know that I'm supposed to walk a-hundred-fifty paces until the front janitor room hole comes up." She said the number in a chant, accenting every other syllable. Ben felt like she did it to remember, and was reminding that he was with a jock.

"And you just poke the ceiling until you get lucky?"

"Pretty much." She grunted one time, this one in satisfaction. "Found it." A small sliver of light shone though the crack she made and blinded Ben momentarily. "Let's go." She opened up the rest of the trapdoor and climbed through, leaving Ben to climb out by himself.

He was blinded by the brightness of the small janitor's room. It was only a few second before he could open his eyes, and he discovered that room was not bright, the hole was just dark. He turned and peered into the black eye, and shivered. He knew that nothing lived down there, but it felt as if something had looked back at him, something that had lived down there forever, and always would be down there, and was always waiting for kids like him to just come into its waiting jaws. Hello, Benny, it would whisper in its death voice and windless breath. Hello Ben-Ben. It's time for your bath! We've got a new bath water for you today, and it's called stomach acid! Maybe some chlorine! Oh, fun! Oh, to be clean! Come on, Ben-Ben, and take your bath. It would say this, in some twisted version of his mother (who always called him Ben-Ben for some strange reason) and it would laugh.

"Ben?"

He jumped and turned guilty around. "W-what?"

"Aren't you going to look for chlorine?" Alice was looking at him strangely, like the way she would look at freaks in the circus.

"Oh! Yeah, I am. Just got distracted." He laughed nervously, desperate to hide his fear. He scolded himself as he turned to look for something to use. Only babies are scared of the dark! He hadn't even been in it, and he had gotten scared. Scared enough to pee his pants. He couldn't show fear; he would lose control of Alice, and that could not happen.

"Ben?"

Oh, s**t, not again. "Yeah?" He turned, frustrated.

"Maybe you should tell me to look for something. To save time?" He could see fear and distrust in her eyes. He was making her nervous.

"Yeah. Um, look for any household cleaners and, um, anything with nitroglycerin in it."

"Okay."

(Yay fight snowflakes with snowflakes. And yes Robyn I am so walking in on you two.)
Mr. Youngblood walked out of the classroom seeing that no one was even there paying attention. He made a left, opening the door to the janitor’s closet that was next door to his class. He saw two students in there. “Ah, Ben, Alice. I was wondering where you two went. In here for my chemicals, are you? No matter. Half the students will die from their own stupidity. So let’s have a little fun with this.” He pulled out a key from his lab coat and walked over to the cabinet. Opening it he grabbed out some chemicals. “Here take these.” He threw some weird shadowy blue vials. “There flammable smoke bombs. So don’t light a fire near them.” He grabbed some others and put it into his lab coat. Many of which were this brightest green color. Some were also very dark blue.
