Zaira thanked the girls, because she doesn't remember who she was addressing either anymore, and went quiet when the golden egg cracked. She clenche her hands into fists and tears streamed from her eyes as the Golden Queen went between. She choked on her next breath and closed her eyes against the feeling of losing another dragon. She stood there shaking and crying as she felt the world lose a wonderful dragon. Opening her eyes, she turned in time to see a little blue drop out of the shell she'd spent so much time with. She didn't take her eyes off the little blue. Oh the beauty of the little creature was enough to stop and stun anyone where they stood.

Such a glorious little dragonet. Whoever Impresses him will surely be very, very happy.

She sighed as she reluctantly tore her eyes from the little dragon and returned to watching the queen. She sucked in a quick breath as the other girls got pushed out of the way. She pulled one foot behind herself in case she had to pull one of the unlucky girls out of the way of the little queen before they were hurt. Her mind shot back to the runnerbeast stampede her sister was in before the Cataclysm. She cut that thought short and watched to make sure no one needed to be helped away. Her mind wretched back to that loving little blue and she was a step late as the girls line stepped forward.

{{Just a note, you all will be in charge of your own dragon-names. Just remember, end in '-th'!

As of this post, I will try my best to respond to each new poster (that's you all) with the appropriate impressions. However, it is likely I won't get to each of you until some time tomorrow.}}

The golden dragon hissed, as if something had greatly insulted her, as her eyes turned towards the harper-candidates. For most of her audience, that noise of displeasure was the only sound, but for one girl- or, rather, one woman- it was accompanied by words.

I am not clumsy, Harperider Sevina! She began indignantly, as though her very honor as queen had been slighted. I am hungry, and I am...

Sevina's eyes widened, her eyes huge as the silky voice echoed in her mind. The golden beauty had spoken to her.' Leniearth' was the name that filled her soul.'Forgive me' She whispered into the golden hatch-lings mind. "Her name is Leniearth!" Sevina said as her arms went around the wet shimmering head.

'There is nothing to be forgiven, HarperRider, But I am hungry.'Leniearth hissed and crooned as her bondmate's arms slid around her head. Her heart felt so huge and whole, now that she was out of that very cramped egg. "I am dirty and hungry, Sevina, let us go and feed me."

Sevina nodded, tears streaming down her face. "Ye-yes,lets go, around, and feed you." Sevina said as she took a position just behind Leniearth's head, holding her steady, and watching the delicat wings so there wouldnt be tripping. "Oh, my love...." She whispered as the pare started to leave the hatching grounds, to where the Candidate master had told them to take the dragons for there first meal, it was near where the heards where kept, the butchers had piles of cut meat waiting for the hatchlings.

Sudenly Sev'en, Buck, and Harper poped into View above Sevina. They where near the steps to lead to the first feed. Buck showed the most interest at the larger female. He swooped down to look, to Leniearths shock.

"Ick, dont let it touch me!" She hissed, rearing onto slightly wobbly legs, her wings trying to flar for balance, she started to tumble. But Sevina was there, as well as the tiny little gold thing that almost looked dragon was chiding the rude brown. Leniearth hissed as her legs touched the ground again. "Im hungery..." Came a pitiouse whine.

Sevina crooned to Leniearth, her arm shooing Buck away. Harper, too lazy to care was already gliding down twards the bowel. When his human's new dragon hissed, he glanced back to see Sev'en punishing Buck for his behaviour. Then the paire of them glided after Harper.

"Its ok, we are getting food. And dont worry about Buck, he is one of three siblings we have. Sev'en, Harper, and Buck." Sevina explained as they made there way to the middle of the bowel. Leniearths eyes where nearly compleatly red. Only a tiny rim of green could be seen.

"I like the one that looks like me,but do we really need the one you called Buck? Lets adopt him out." Leniearth mumbled as she caught scent of the meat.

{{D: I'm sorry I missed so much already. I had to work all weekend and didn't get a chance to get online. Hopefully I haven't screwed Rylie or Rita's impression chances.}}

The cavern and Weyr had exploded into humming. Rylie had grabbed his sister and started running as soon as it had registered. The eggs were hatching! Now both sibling stood quietly dressed in their white robes. Rylie's eyes danced quickly, his shoulder clear of his firelizard. He grinned more with each crack that sounded through the cavern. "They're hatching," he whispered to his sister. "Both of us might impress."

"I really hope you do Rylie," Rita remarked. Her eyes were watering from the searing heat of the cavern, and her own nerves. She looked more than a little green in the face. Rylie patted her shoulder and she could only looked at him. All the same, her hazel eyes were glowing like his. She wanted to see who would impress. "You would do so well fighting against Thread."

"Look! The queen hatched!" Rylie exclaimed. He wanted to shove his sister towards the dragon, but already it looked like one of the other girls had captured her attention. Rita was out of luck. He looked at her. She couldn't hide her disappointment. "You're much better suited to something a little quieter," Rylie whispered. "A queen is too much work and is far too outgoing. Don't worry Rita. I'm sure you'll impress something with a better temperment."

"She's so beautiful Rylie," Rita gasped. "When yours is strong enough will you let me fly with you?" Rita turned her eyes away from the infant queen and looked at her brother. Rylie put his arm around her shoulder and nodded his head. Then he pulled away. As the other dragons moved towards their candidates being stuck together would probably end badly.

"If I impress, it's a promise."

{{No harm at all. For the most part, impression decisions were made before the hatching began. Though, of course, with the influx of new characters, that isn't as true a rule as it could be.}}

Two more hatchlings soon joined the blue body on the sand, tumbling onto the ground with only the barest co-ordination. The blue impressed one of the many, wondered faces of the crowd, and an older candidate cried aloud, "He is Kirrith!"

The green that had broken its shell began running towards the loosely gathered candidates, in as much as it's new legs would let it run.

The brown seemed almost immediately better balanced than his smaller kin, and before he began his search, he unfurled his deceptively strong wings, the sun glinting off their wet membrane. Then, fully open for view, he swung his head to study each candidate, however briefly.

He hadn't yet taken his first weak steps, when he trumpeted in glee. Please feed me, Rylie? I am so, so hungry, and I can smell the meat!

Valad watched as the shimmering blue impressed. Then the first impressive brown impressed a young man standing only two men down. He wanted to congragulate the man, but more dragon hatchlings where ambling twards the group. He watched an excited green try to move faster than her little legs would go. He smiled. He hoped the girl who got her would be thrilled.

He looked around. More hatchlings. Shell fragments everywhere. He tryed to remember what dragon came from what egg, so if he impressed he would collect some of the shell. He saved something from all his friends. He had all of Shea's baby teeth.

He couldnt stop smiling, even as he dodged a slinky dragon head as it pushed past him. He knew the dangers of the hatching grounds. And he wanted to stay intact.

((sorry... trying to clean house))

The brunette grunted as she was pushed out of the way of the little golden dragon. She watched it run to another girl.. Sevina, she believed... Lunara wasn't the best at names. Sitting there, a moment, she sighed. Well... the queen hadn't been for her. Looking around, she noticed that a few other dragonets were starting to Impress. She swallowed and stood to keep herself from getting dirty or burning her robes from the hot sands.

Walking towards the other eggs, she watched. Oh if she could just see a green up close! That would be such a wonder to behold... to have her own little green. Running her hand through her hair, her grey-green eyes scouted for other hatching eggs. Most were still trembling and cracking.

She sighed and bit her lip. What if she didn't Impress? What kind of weyrdweller would she be? Oh she would hate to be put away to be a cook or a healer. Being a harper for ten years was boring enough. Lunara shook her head and walked on, stopping a few yards from a man who had a ferret around his neck. He might be lucky and get a bronze... or a brown. Her skin crawled in anticipation, waiting and watching.

Valad smiled as a curly haired girl came near him. He motioned to a position in the sands that had been opened by another boy impressing. "I dont bite." He said with a smile. "Dont worry, I couldnt see you as a gold rider, you seem more the sort of a fire breather." He whispered to the girl. "A pretty green or a frisky blue I think would make you a match. More freedom anyways." Valad said, trying to get a smile from the girl.

"Anyways Im Valad, good luck!" He said over the sound of warbles, whines, hisses, shouts and more. Shea slid into his collar so only his twitching nose poked out. Bliking blue eyes the little ferret watched what went on around.

User ImageLunara looked over as the boy near her spoke. Chuckling at his words, she shrugged. When she was a harper, she didn't come in much contact with other guys. Her grey-green eyes watched him as he mentioned her being a fire-breather and she smiled slightly... it was a littl emore encouraging to hear something like that. At least from another person, anyway. Sighing, she shrugged.

"I was hoping maybe the queen might find me acceptable... but perhaps you're right. A green or a blue might suit me better. I would prefer a green." She said and then looked back at him, nodding.

"I'm Lunara, by the way. Good luck to you too... You seem like a fellow that might easily Impress a bronze or a brown." She wished Isith was with her right now.. maybe he would help her ease her nerves. That little blue bugger always did.

Valad smiled as he watched another impress. "Aw, I dont care about my dragons color. It makes no difference to me, except I might be too fat for a blue..." He winked at Lunara. "I just hope there healthy and willing, Blue to bronze. I would be honored if so, but not disappointed if not. I think a wily green might do you wonderful. Personality wise." He said as he watched another egg spit down the middle.

He glanced at Lunara again, wishing he wasnt so tall, then back to the eggs. "I almost hope for a brown or less.. Just thinking of having to deal with a broody Queen dragon and her human gives me the shiveres." He joked, putting emphasis into the shivers. With another wink his smile split his face.

Hedria knew that when the gold gave her nothing but a noise of disapproval she was not the one to impress her. Although she had prepared herself for failure with the knowledge that her chances were small anyways, it still came as somewhat of a shock. She stood there, stung, as the gold ignored her and went on to impress to Sevina, the harper she had spoken with earlier.

With considerably less spring in her step, Hedria trudged back to the other girls, trying to wrap her head around what had just happened and what to do next. The gold was gone, in capable hands, so that meant she and the other girls were free to try for a green. Swallowing the knot that had been forming in her throat, she glanced over to where the young men were standing. A green would still be lovely. And Hedria never was one to give up easily.

Determinedly, she gritted her teeth and marched towards the other end of the sands, trying not to show her disappointment. She joined the others and turned to face the hatchlings. This was supposed to be a happy occasion, she reminded herself. She ought to feel good that the queen had successfully impressed. It was hard though. At the moment, she was struggling to feel happy for anyone else.

She spotted a green, tearing across the sands, and as if yet unimpressed. Hedria watched her, wondering if maybe... maybe she would yet walk off the sands in triumph. And if not... well, there were future hatchings to look forward to.

She laughed a little at his words. This tall guy was certainly... well... funny. It was nice to relax even amongst the mayhem that surrounded them. Her eyes returned to the eggs. They were slowly but surely hatching. A green, eh? She certainly hoped so. She smiled, thinking over his words. And that winked helped some too... Valad made for an interesting charmer.

Her eyes turned back to the tall man beside her and cocked her head as he spoke of the queen. Blinking at his joke, she never knew that a guy wouldn't want to be with a Queen or her Weyrwoman. She thought that was a position every guy dreamed of! Well... goes to show what she knew.

"You seem to not take ranks very seriously then... not the higher ranks, anyways." She observed as she crossed her arms and started walking towards the eggs. One by one, she could hear Impressions. Her stomach continued to turn into knots. Anticipation was still building, even as it was calmed by the winks and smiles of the man beside her.

Relin watched with a rather controlled expression, the queen had impressed to a girl that he hadn't known very well and he didn't mind or care very much. He watched as some girls seemed happy for the girl and the queen while others seemed absolutely miserable as to the situation of the queen impressing to someone other then themselves. He took his grey eyes away from the queen to watch as the blue impressed to a boy who cried out the name of the hatchling.

The candidate sighed a little and rubbed at his forehead listening to the other candidates around him and to the humming of his little green firelizard, who continued to encourage the dragonets to hatch and find the one that would be perfect for them. He looked at the newest arrival into the world, which showed itself to be a green who took off almost instantly across the sands to the candidates. He smiled and shook his head a little before turning his attention towards the brown that had hatched, it seemed to have a bit more balance then it's siblings and the boy sighed a little as he watched the brown. It was a proud example of it's example and seemed to show itself off before moving to walk across the sand and towards the males. It did take the brown long before he trumpeted in triumph and joy as he found the one that was right for him.

Relin ran a hand through his hair before turning and looking away from the happy dragonets and their bonded and his eyes fell on the sight of a girl who looked quiet hopeful, but perhaps disappointed from the ones that were already lucky to impress. He moved towards the light limp brown haired girl who stood among the others. "Interesting, isn't it?" He asked the girl who seemed rather average for looks but quite normal to the boy. He didn't really care for the ones that were extremely beautiful and amazing, he liked the ones that were just like everyone else and perfectly normal, which was why he decided to talk to the girl. He couldn't help but glance at the eggs as he waited. He knew the green would impress possibly soon and then another one would hatch, he hoped that all the dragonets would be happy but he couldn't help but want to be one of the successful candidates that ended up with a partner that they would spend the rest of their life with.

Though the green had been searching longer than the kin hatching all around her, none of the new girls appealed to the little dragon's sensibilities. Finally, her racing slowed, and she knocked her head against one of the young men's knee, making a soft cry almost mistakeable for a goat's bleat. The man- clearly southern bred, with skin so dark- whooped for joy, before he remembered to cry her name. "Alarath!" The clumsy little green let herself be lead to the feeding grounds.

But, there was no need to worry, for dozens of eggs remained unhatched.

Just like the first to crack, the next shell to show it's dragon was loud, the shell broke down the middle with a thunderous crackle, more than suitably dramatic for a bronze- it would have been the first of the hatching. But, the body inside the large egg was a deceptively small blue.

As though the beast were grateful for release, and dropped into the sand, and wallowed for a moment, though its eyes strained and searched the candidates. But, the movements of the other eggs and hatchlings meant that the loose formation that they had once stood in was a long forgotten memory.

With abrupt determination, the blue rose to its feet, more confident in its step than the others thus far had been. It was obvious from the strange determination in his body that this dragon would be a fine searchdragon, talented at picking candidates out of the masses. It clearly had someone in mind.

The blue swung, and it's newborn muscles threatened to betray him, but, he caught his balance as he strode towards his lifemate.

Why are you sad, Hedria? You who touched me and said "confidence"? he asked, for the first time truly a confused hatchling. No time for sadness. Only for food! And with that, he dropped words entirely, focusing only on his overwhelm joy, tempered by his consuming hunger.

Zaira exhaled in relief as a smile played across her face. She looked at one of the girls sitting on the ground. She took a step towards her to help her up but she stood on her own. Zaira darted off towards Lunara who was talking to a boy candidate. She stopped next to her and watched the sands for another little blue. How her heart yearned for a beautiful little blue dragonet of her own. The wonderful temperments of the blues and greens were just fine with her. She would take either but she wanted a blue like the firts dragonrider she'd ever seen. The first dragon she'd ever touched was a blue and that's why she wanted one. They were just magnificant creatures, dragons were. She hoped she'd Impress. Looking around the sands, she noticed that there were only a few eggs left and still a handful or two of candidates. She would step down and wait for the next hatching if she didn't Impress here, she wanted her friends to Impress as well and she would decline herself to help them too. She saw a boy Impress a brown and heard the name of his partner shouted to the skies. Her heart went back to the Queen and she teared up again as the thought of her death saddened her.

No dragon should ever have to wait so long after their riders die to meet them again. They should always go together.

She thought as she returned her eyes to the eggs that were rocking violently now. Twitter popped in above her head and landed on her shoulder crooning her encouragement. She chuckled at his love and petted his head in thanks. She sent an image of the other flits above them still and watched him as he took off to join them.
