stay busy! take a class, take a second job, hang with friends. just do something.
don't dwell on it. Believe me it will drive you nuts if you dwell and worry all the time. sometimes no news is good news. if something happened they would notify you.
try to keep in contact any way possible. email is awesome. IM is good if you're a night owl (remember when it's morning here it's night over there)
snail mail is good too. it just may take awhile to get replies back. also note that they don't always have the time every day to reply back so, if they don't for a few days don't panic. also, on that note keep a cell phone on you on vibrate. If they do call you will not want to miss that phone call. usually phone calls are rare though. Hearing there voice is one hell of a treat when you miss them.
stay away from temptation. stay away from any guy who you may be attracted to. or who may be attracted to you.
send care packages to him. he will love it and t will keep you busy.
take and send tons of pictures and video. invest in a webcam! dirty pictures are ok. Just warn him so that he doesn't open those infront of a bunch of buddies. If you do take those remember that you do run the risk of everyone seeing you that way.
surround yourself with friends and family. they can be your best support and take your mind off of things.
and lastly join a guild like this one. a place like this one can save your sanity on a bad day. there are people here that understand what you're going through, people here can help you cope with it and answer your questions. feel free to lean on all of us. we care and understand that it's not easy. you may also want to see if there is a club for the woman on base. If you live there.
this is all from experience. My boyfriend got back from deployment about 6 months ago. these are the things that helped me. I've also kind of found from experience, and talking with other people that a deployment can either make or break a relationship. It either makes it stronger, or it will break it from being apart so long. Just be strong, keep your head up, be loyal, and faithful, and you should be fine. also don't try and stuff yourself in a seabag...I got stuck..( I stuffed myself in one as to say "take me with you!"...he and I both got a good laugh)
