Sounds like a plan, Vincent. Truemaemonster and I, actually were considering to let her have a mule in the guild with a secondary character. xD Well, I better get Yukia_PerrianDM active again, as that's Yukia! ^_^ xD But I need to consider...do I remember Yukia well enough. xD I'll see what I can come up with. ^_^

I always thought limiting people to one character was a little silly. With people playing more characters it means people will be able to fill more dungeons with actual people, and experience different rolls.

Okay. So we're agreed on the mutli-character and mercenary idears. Basically this mercenary rule means that a DM has one mule which must work as a mercenary rather than a seperate free player. I guess we can give it a shot...

By the way. If we're making some mercenaries... We would have to make sure there is atleast 1 striker, 1 mage, and one healer based merc so... All of the DMs who would like to cast their cries of shotgun I think should do it now...
*Holds up a massive dead toad with the words 'Acolyte' pinned on a badge ontop of the thing's head.*

Monsieur Doctor Count Bigglesworth and I would like to say that we would be doing either a stun-based character, or a mage-based healer but do not care which and will wait and see if we get a mercenary after all the othzers call theirs.

I'll take the healer. I've had my own ideas about a healer for some time now anyway. I'll also be adding in some basic, monster-like mercs if no one minds. Very cheap, somewhat weak and don't increase like a normal character, but can be effective in certain situations. Anyway, if any of the DMs disagree with this then just let me know and I'll back off. Glad I came up with something. Lately it's seemed like I've contributed so little to the guild that I was beginning to feel bad razz

Thats fine in my book. And don't feel bad about not contributig much. Tis the season you know... And even I will soon have to take a break from gaia so I can hunt down and chop down a christmas tree and some last-minute gifts... Which all of mine will be it seems. ^.^;;

I have two rather unorthodox idears.

???????
A:0
D:0
C:0
M:5
L: 25 [5]
E: 0
Abillities: Fast Casterx2 [8],
Summoner [6] [???, with stats=18. 0 attack, 0 defense, 0 combat dice, 20 (4) Life, Abillities: SA (4), Buff Supportx4 ( cool , Touch of Faith (2)]
Items: Symbol of the Mother
Actions: Stunning Blow
Spells: Energy-Burst, Overblast, Heal, Stunbolt
Organization: Church of the Divine Mother

A standard summoner/nuker with a touch of support

Or

??????
A: 1
D: 0
C: 5d4 [8]
M: 0
L: 20 [4]
E: 0
Abillities: Fast Actorx2 [8], Speedy Actor [2], Shockwave [1]
Items: Elite mantle
Actions: Stunning Blow, Distract, Defensive Hold, Taunt, Punch, Kick, Power Up
Spells: N/a
Organization: The Elites

A supportive build which is almost entirely non-self sufficient but can kick butt because the abillity to open team-attack possibilities and the double stuns.

Do you think these are too much?

Any mercenary idea looks fine, just make sure it can't die too easily unless it's powerful enough to keep itself alive. For me, I'm still debating about what mercenary role I'll take. xD Debates, debates. Debating between mage, or maybe summoner or pet person? I don't know. XD I'll make something someday. XD

Second characters owned by non-DMs (not mercs, but second characters used by people) will be going away (or at least out of use in minigames, dungeons, anything of importantance unless invited) after we get more people, correct? Though I do admit it's important now, I feel it may get hectic and chaotic in the future when we have more people due to the possiblity that person may be busy, holding up two dungeons when another person could have taken that spot in one of the two dungeons. Also, due to the unknowningness of the other newbies knowing that both character X and character Z is owned by the same person. In my opinion, I have thought about multi-character allowing and my stomach got a bit queasy, but I guess what we have to do is what we have to do. (Though we did get THREE new people over the last weekend! Big round of applause to the whole guild for the new members and returning member!)

Monster-like mercs, actually, sound pretty interesting Vincent. Odd, though...what would you do if you hired a goblin to spy in dragon cave? Would you have overly-fried goblin for dinner that night? xD

Oh, and I apologize for my absence during some of this week, finals have been keeping me busy in college. But, finally, Winter Break is upon me for three whole weeks!!!

Hmm....and a random idea that Random Mistakes gave me. We could make a merc for each organization and have them recruitable? It would, of course, cost less to hire if a person in the group was in that organization, but it would still be possible to hire that person. This is just an odd, random idea which I am not even sure if I like or not. xd I, actually, now kinda don't like this idea for the organization recruits because of the possiblity of lack of personality due to trying to make that person act like they're in that organization and not a normal, regular person. xd

I would like to add some color commentary.

I also don't think it was ever written that we couldn't have more than one character, it is becaus we are limited to one character per acount and they didn't want to offend by accusing everyone of committing mule fraud. And I say that becaus the one char per acount rule is not just to emliminate confusion as tho whitch character you are playing now, but also becaus they didn't want two characters in the same dungeon controlled by the same player. I shouldn't have to explain to anyone here why that is a bad thing. So even when people used multiple acounts and ran more than one player they did sneak them into the same dungeons and by default that was cheating becaus the DM had no idea that only two people where playing his dungeon and now the guy with two or more characters in the same story is now efectively controlling the hole show.

So in short I am not opposed to players having more than one character, I am simply trying to remind ever one that here are rules of conduct that should be observed when doing so.

Also about the Mercs should each DM only make one? I was thinking we could all make 3 or 4 characters to cover the main character types so that no matter what the asortment of the players characters the DM could fill in the propper gap. Also that way each DM will only have to worry about covering a merc in their own Dungeon and not have to keep track of where their guy is.

What do you guys think?

Hm, I'm actually more partial to Firu's idea, where each DM has certain Mercs that cover the four basic classes and then they can be hired for that DM's dungeons. It just makes it a whole lot easier. And again, only one merc per dungeon, and for mule accounts, I'm going to say why not just have them use the same users and just different characters? It cuts down on the traffic and makes it so that players can't abuse the multi-accounts to have thirty mules or some such nonsense. Anyway, that's my take on it. But as to Perrian's question about monster stats for mercs, I meant make generic, monster-like mercenaries with stats like those presented in the Monster forum. That's what I meant. Like this:

Bandit Defender [24]
Attack: 1
Defense: 2
Combat: 5
Magic: 0
Life: 40 [8]
Equip: 4
Abilities: Defender, Regeneration
Actions: Guard, Shield Bash
Spells: N/A
Items: Tower Shield

Or:

Bandit Striker [24]
Attack: 4
Defense: 0
Combat: 5
Magic: 0
Life: 25 [5]
Equip: 0
Abilities: Fury x2
Actions: Smash, Stunning Blow
Spells: N/A
Items: N/A

Of course this is just rough designs and I'll hammer them out later, but that's what I was getting at. So anyway, I'm going to be developing these and my mercs. I'll run them all by you Perrian to check myself, but that should be good for a rough idea. If no one objects I think I'll take the lead on this, so unless Perrian objects please run questions about the mercs and mule accounts through me via PM. Thanks for all the input ladies and gents!

I have no objection with the stats, and there is no need to get them ran through by me since you're a DM and you're able to make good stats for the mercs.

And I do agree with Firu's idea about the mercs, each DM will have 3-4 (depending on the roles he sees important) mercs to use for their dungeon or, in the case a person requests a specific merc and the running DM approves, in another dungeon. Though, should a person be able to request another DM's merc in a different DM's dungeon, if they prefer that merc, or should it not be allowed?

Also, to clear up confusion, should we use mules to for other characters to make sure whose post is who (but have it recorded that the characters are ran by the same people) or just use the same account? It may be easier for everyone else to read it if it's two different accounts, but more of a pain for the poster if it's two different accounts.

For the mercs, should they be able to get stronger and gain CP as they are put through dungeons, or should their stats remain the same?

Dont mean the change the subject but Rad's been waiting for a while for someone to approve his character.

As for secondary characters I feel they should be controlled by one account so people cant cheat and use their multiple accounts to vote more than once on stuff.

Also I feel mercenaries should stay static with stats simply so they stay affordable and in reach for the lower level members.

I agree with Kail on the whole static merc stats. After all, they'll get gear to make them better in the end anyway, but the stats will be the same. Though I may add an evolving Merc just for fun... ninja
PostPosted: Tue Dec 22, 2009 11:08 pm

Ok, but I do think the mercs should be able to keep some of the items (depending upon the payment method, etc). I do now see how the static merc does make more sense, though it may be a bit of annoyance if a person is trying to get a merc for a high level quest (Example: Homecoming) and there are only level 4 (24 CP) mercs.

True, but then you just do what I did and make 2, 24 CP characters and 2, 32 CP characters to balance everything out. Then it'll work out better. I gave the 32 CP characters one or two unique items/actions/spells etc, but nothing too major.

Hrmmm... Speaking of mercenaries.

I was thinking of setting up a minigame soon to give everyone active something to do. And I was wondering:

If I hold an event, can little ol' Bellamin still participate?

For a simple story-telling; non dungeon, non continuous minigame, event... What could I offer as rewards?

And

Whaddya think of me opening it about a week from now?

If you hold an event, you can join in. I know I've done it before. And if it's just going to be such a simple event then do a chip reward (like 100-200 a person, no more than 300 though) and maybe a Shop Ticket. You can add in items if you want, but I wouldn't make them any of the rather powerful items. That's what I'd do anyway, but it's ultimately up to you. And you can open it whenever you want. If that's a week from now then go for it.
