The second he saw what she was doing he let go of the five chains and leapt away from them, landing a couple yards back. "You really know how to fight, witch. I've never done this for anybody, so count yourself lucky." He gripped his cloak and flung it off of him, and when it landed it made a huge crater.
The angel's muscles were huge and his skin was pale. His wings flexed on his back and his body assumed a defensive stance.

Something was not right in the forest, Ephiney realized a few minutes in. The stillness of the winter night was broken by sounds that were almost inaudible at this distance. Somewhere deeper in the woods there was a battle raging. It wasn't the sound of an army she... felt rather than heard... but of a few people in their own intense conflict. Normally she would have picked up her pace and rushed to aid, but she had no idea who was fighting and why. And the last thing she needed was to be caught on the wrong side. No. Better to withhold action until she found someone to align herself with. That decided, she continued on through the dark woods at a decent pace. Realizing she had no idea where she was going on who she was actually looking for, the tribal leader paused. Perhaps it would be more benficial to continue in the daylight. More visibility, easier to explore parts of the woods hidden by the dark. Safer. No, she wasn't worried about being attacked, dark or light she could fight. But a root sticking up or a small hole could prove disasterous to one of her horses legs. Looking around, the woman spots just the type of tree she needs. Branches starting only about 10 feet from the ground, thick enough to support her weight. Walking her mare to the tree, Ephiney stands in the saddle, grabs the lowest branch and pulls herself up onto it, laying against the thick trunk, legs hooked around the wide branch. The mare would stand in near the same spot under her all night, so Ephiney pulled her cloak as tight as she could against the biting cold and closed her eyes, still sending the faint vibrations and sounds from the far off battle. In minutes she was asleep, though light enough to wake at the first sign of trouble.

"This," comes a deep, carrying voice not from either of the two combatants, "is where I choose to step in." The chain-cloak flies back onto the field of battle, followed by the armored giant who hefted such weight so easily. His wings are folded upon his back, and Hunter is gripped in his substantial hand. The draconian monster of a being stabs his great lance into the ground and comes to a stop in front of the girl, facing the chain-psycho, though out of the direct line between them.

"Oh? Trading of partners, huh? Fine, he looks like he'll be more enjoyable anyways." He anylizes his new apponent. He would be a challenge, especialy with the side wound that could open at any time. He would have to fight smart.

"On that we agree. So old-timer, just remove yourself then. The lady obviously doesn't want you here. So, move along. Heh, after I kill her, I'll deal with you."

"I'm afraid I can't do that. You see, I have just recognized you as the Tatsunian Slaughterer. You are the one traveling about the lands and razing villages right and left, described by the singular survivor of your attack three weeks ago. According to my personal oath given to the princess herself in a private audience just after the Third Battle of Kelp, I cannot allow you or anyone who has murdered another in cold blood (which conveniently exempts any and all soldiers, unsurprisingly) to leave this area alive. And thanks to my soldier's oath, given when I joined the Tatsunian army as a tactician, I cannot allow any civillian to die while I am still alive. Both of those in combination state that I have to kill you right here and now, without waiting for you to finish with your previous dual. Sorry, milady," he says, adressing the female behind him with this last, "but it's the truth." The giant draconian looks back at the fallen angel and turns slightly, presenting only his right side to his enemy as he pulls Hunter out of the ground with a flourish and points it toward his foe.

As fast as the lightning he commanded, he was gone and then infront of the girl, pushing his fist into her stomache and dashing away. He had no idea if his attack conected or not, but he was going to be absolutely precautiouse with this one. She was most definately dangerous.

She flinched as the fist made painful contact with her abdomen. Her muscles stiffened immediately to provide protection, but it was still powerful. A little further and he would've broken her spine, internal bleeding had already been inflicted. Ah well, she'll live long enough. Refracting the energy she sensed from his attack, she imitated his quick movements with improvisation of her own powers, and appeared right behind his back with her sword striking for his back like a cobra. Her muscles tensed, ready to take her out of danger if he retaliates too quickly.

Rom leapt back as the Lycan made his attack, stumbling slightly as he landed on the shaking ground. He kept his balance, but the Lycan exploited the opening it gave him, charging forward to close the distance with Rom.
He simply remained silent as the Lycan roared, not bothering to respond.
He managed to dodge or parry most of the Lycan's furious flurry of attacks. Most of them. He caught the edge of a few blows, and after a few passes, they were both bleeding and tired.
I'm too close. he thought, as they continued their furious exchange. This is going to be hard and risky.
Stepping back, he changed into a one-handed grip and swung his spear at the Lycan's face. The Lycan easily dodged the blow, and closed in, intending to exploit the wide opening in his opponent's defense. Rom, however, turned and continued his swing, bringing it behind his back to thrust at the charging Lycan. Twisting his spear, the side blade hit the Lycan in the side. The Lycan roared in pain as the spear sliced through his side, and swung his hammer at Rom. Rom tried to twist away, but the hammer took him in the chest, knocking him down. As he fell, he twisted and pulled his spear back into the Lycan's leg, tripping him and giving him a nasty leg wound.
Rom struggled to his feet, blood dripping from his wounds. He heard the sound of someone coming, and an odd, shrilly metallic jingle rapidly approaching.
He turned and left with a staggering run, leaving the Lycan lying on the ground and cursing behind him.
He ran, exhausted and bleeding, until he stumbled and fell forward into the snow. His vision blurred and faded as he watched the snow slowly turn crimson.
Is...this it?

"I don't want your blood money! Get out of my house!" screamed a woman, striking at a young man, who dropped a small bag.
The home was cheap, maintained but still falling apart. The cupboards were bare, the few furnishings in the home were battered, and there was a thin gruel cooking on a pathetic stove. A thin little girl watched on, frightened, as the two fought.
"But ma-ma, we need the mon-" he protested.
"You fight and murder for money? You're no different than the people who killed your father!" she yelled, "You're not my son! Leave, and I never want you to come near us again!" she screamed, with a final slap, tears in her eyes.
He looked up at her from the floor. "Take your money and go." she said, turning her back on him. She saw the girl. "Go back to your room!" she ordered, "You shouldn't be watching this!". The little girl hurried off, tears in her eyes.
He looked up at her, mouth open with shock. Then, he picked up the bag and ran out the door.

The red head awoke before dawn, as the sky was beginning to lighten to a pale blue. Arching her back she stretched her form for a moment before swinging both legs over one side the branch and leaning backwards, jumping down in a tight back flip. Her mare started slightly and Ephiney eased her with a whisper and a quick pat on the nose before mounting deftly and heading off at a walk. She shook the snow off her cloak and pulled it around her, grateful that the steady stream of white condensation had stopped sometime during the night. The sounds of battle were not longer present, at least not that she could hear, and the few birds that had not migrated were singing their early morning songs. Letting the peacefulness of the forest settle into her soul, she continued on in silence, hoping the cold would start to work its way out of her bones. The sky was lightening rapidly and she had travelled perhaps two miles deeper in the wood when she came across a snow covered figure laying on the ground. Her first instinct was that he was dead, but she leapt down and rushed to him, checking his neck for a pulse, and found one. Pushing him over onto his back she looked for obvious wounds, spotting a deep gash in his thigh. The warrioress stood and made for her saddlebag, pulling out one of the strips of rags normally used for dressing wounds, a small jar, a needle and some leather twine. She bent down next to him and began to stitch the wound expertly, finishing and tying the twine then covering the gash with the substance from the jar and wrapping the rag tightly around the whole thing. There were several wounds on his chest that were less deep and she applied the substance to those as well, thinking it was lucky he was unconcious because that stuff stung like nothing else. Finally she used a chunk of snow to wipe the dried blood from his nose and mouth. Now for the hard part, she thought. Going back to her saddlebags, Ephiney replaced her belongings and then went back to the stranger, bending down and using all her strength to haul him to his feet and then over her shoulders. A few beads of sweat dripped down her brow at the exertion, but she managed to stagger with both their weight to her horse and somehow shove him up and across the mares back.
Guess I'm walking for a while...
She said as she swung the reins over the horse's head and led her on foot on the path she had been on before she found the unconcious stranger.

Riyoku Sakimori She flinched as the fist made painful contact with her abdomen. Her muscles stiffened immediately to provide protection, but it was still powerful. Refracting the energy she sensed from his attack, she imitated his quick movements with improvisation of her own powers, and appeared right behind his back with her sword striking for his back like a cobra. Her muscles tensed, ready to take her out of danger if he retaliates too quickly. The blade fell across his back, cutting deep, but he had set a defense. Electricity rand down the blade and into the girl's body. If he could polarize her, then he could really start to attack her... even with this wound.

A peculiar sensation ran through her body, paralyzing her before she could dart away. She saw the blade streaked with lightning, and saw it in a world so colorful, there was only black and white in her mind's preception. Her eyes looked deeply into his when he turned, the smile never died--maniacal, bloodthirsty, and childish. A pale white face of the ghostly figure laced with lights. She didn't fight back, for some reason, the light felt good. Was it even an attack. Slowly, she grew docile. The harp played alone by her side.

The harp... At this point, Lance intercedes. His massive form hurtles across the area and he uses Hunter like a baseball bat aimed at the fallen angel's gut. If his attack hits, it will, without a doubt, send the other man flying through the air and, more importantly, dislodge the sword being used as a counterattack. "I have told you before, I will not allow innocents to die while I still draw breath!"
