Rena626 Desert_Fox_Rommel I'm not a Republican. I'm not a very political person. I prefer to just go ahead and be offensive rather than try to phrase my words carefully to try and keep people from misunderstanding what I mean. I'm not knowledgeable as to the beliefs of any political party. Due to this lack of knowledge it's best that I not associate myself with anything political until I can learn more about which system I most closely relate to. If that doesn't work then I'll just remain as "no political party" and just vote for whatever choice I agree with most. Actually the second idea sounds better to me. It's less work and will hopefully cause less conflict with other political orientations. I wish before every election you did not see the candidates face nor did you find out what party they're running for.
A person's beliefs are what matter the most, and people today are ignorant enough to run politics like a win/lose game. I agree, not just for presidency but for any election. There are too many idiots that just think political orientation says everything you need to know about a person.

I was raised in a vapid, extreme leftist household and was forcefed the BS day to day. I was very bad, anti-military, gutting people with taxations and so many other horrible things.
Then, I moved out and educated myself. I am an independent really, but I lean more on the conservative side. i want our military to flourish, I really do NOT want us to be gutted and whatnot.

Sir Sunkist 1.) Democrats generally like to raise taxes 2.) Democrats generally like to spend money on wasteful programs 3.) Democrats generally like to kiss minority's' asses 3.) Democrats generally support National Healthcare 4.) Democrats generally want to turn America into a Socialist nation 5.) Democrats generally don't have common sense. (Iraq war stance) 6.) Democrats generally support Gay marriage Basically. See above. I also contribute it to the fact that I live in California. Living here has made me realize just how hateful the democratic left can really be. They are the close-minded ones. This includes Obama. He is so far left that he is hitting the wall. They are all for freedom of speech until you disagree with them. Out here they usually never will engage in a civilized debate, and they always resort to name-calling to get their so-called "points" across. That really turned me off to their beliefs. TL;DR Democrats/liberals are ******** douchebags. "My anti-drug? Not being a douchebag. Above the influence."

Started out democrat, mostly because I couldn't say republican when I was 5.
But yeah, one day I decided to actually research and look into it. Ever since: I'm a republican.

I became a Republican when I was ten. I come from a family of conservative Republicans. It was my grandma who got me interested in politics and I've been a Republican ever since.
I'm hardcore pro-life and the Republican party stands for the dignity of life, small government, lower taxes, a strong military and most importantly, individual freedom.
That sounds pretty good to me!

I live in California too and I've witnessed the hypocrisy of the liberals. I hate hypocrites, so they're the reason why I stay a conservative. At least we get it right!

Personally, my mother convinced me, i wish I could record her arguments on tape so I wouldn't have to recite them from memory when I argue about politics and stuff.
My dad is the same way but he didn't care witch side to choose he wants me to have my own views and argues with friends about politics alot... and for the conversation jesus, sunkist, and rosary are having is also pretty true.. cool

I'm mostly Conservative with a few moderate ideas sometimes.
However, I am a Republican because a Liberal point of view just does not WORK when it comes to successfully running a country. A country cannot succeed when it is run by pure emotionalism and no logic. A person is entitled to their own wages, I fully support the second amendment, abortion is wrong outside of DIRE medical emergencies and so forth. In other views, I think the government should be SO small where it has no say in the definition of marriage, ect... My dad - who was also a Union-Democrat and was converted to Conservatism by listening to Rush years ago - believes the same way and actually turned me into a Rush-baby (although I prefer Glenn).
Also, that national health care crap. No. I was sitting at work one day calculating how much money I'll probably owe when I'm finished med school and some woman I work with comes up to me and jokingly/seriously says "LOL, be sure to give me free health care when you graduate!". I only responded with "Yeah, and who is going to pay your medical bills then?" and she got all huffy.
Being on livejournal, which is overrun with Liberals, also made me even more aware that people have no idea why they register themselves with the Democratic party other than wanting "bragging" rights which comes with being labeled an "open-minded" Liberal. Or they like to believe themselves to be, as the Democratic-Union members say, "for the working man" (yeah right). However, when you disagree with anything they say they have a fit. Also, no one realizes that the Democratic party was WAY different even as recent as thirty years ago. My dad was a Democrat because his parents and grandparents were and it wasn't until he researched the issues that he realized that the party was drastically different. Plus, people who call themselves Democrats hate Bush and assume that if you consider yourself a Republican that means that you love the man to pieces not saying I do or I don't, but there are Republicans who don't. In fact, I know a lot of people who actually have Conservative views but believe themselves to be Democrats because they don't like Bush.
Most Liberals I know tend to be the most misinformed persons about ANYTHING regarding politics. They have no idea who controlled Congress the last two years, know nothing of what Obama says (which isn't really a lot, so it shouldn't be hard to find out) and have no idea what REALLY caused the economic crisis because they don't research and instead believe the first thing they hear on the news. I even heard a story about a girl who was voting for Obama and was in love with him because he was "cute" - yet she had no IDEA who the Republican candidate was!
It is my belief that every citizen should be required to pass an exam on the basic government workings - as well as what the parties stand for - before being allowed to register to vote. A lot more people would be Republicans.

So why am I Republican? Because I pay attention and use logic.

Just because someone is a democrat doesn't mean they don't know the difference between right and wrong. Maybe someone is technically a democrat, but doesn't follow all the beliefs to the letter. I get the feeling you would probably get defensive and pissy about it if a democrat made that same generalization towards republicans.

I'm sorry, but once you've lived in one of the bluest states in the country then you'll know where I'm coming from. I've been surrounded by these people my whole life and my whole life I've been bullied and pushed around because I am conservative. I know how they think and most liberals are uneducated high school students who consider "MTV News" the s**t. So yes my view on them is harsh. However I've been called many names in my day and it was far worse than what I said in this forum. If a person is liberal based on research, fine, good for them. However most of the ones I come across are 15 year old girls who think the peace sign looks "cute" and "unique"on their backpacks. Get a grip please, a liberal democrat is one who follows the beliefs of said party, or at least where I am now. Show me a conservative democrat and that's a different story. Show me a liberal republican, and a conservative republican. They are all very different. So yes, I believe that I am right and they are wrong. That's the whole point of politics. As for you calling me pissy and defensive, I got passed that in eighth grade thank you. For example, I will not talk bad about Obama. I respect him, because he's our president elect and that's more mature than most republicans can say lately. Besides, who are you to judge? The fact that you joined this guild is undeniable proof that you find your morals to be right and their's to be wrong, no?

I can understand the frustration of alienation from others surrounding you, but still saying that all of them are the same is just stupid. It's like saying that a Christian living in a mostly Atheist location and the Christian is alienated by the Atheists for their beliefs and "oppressed" by all their beliefs. In your reasoning that would make absolutely all Atheists soulless close minded pricks then. Just because they alienate you and call you mean names doesn't mean you are any more right to generalize them. Ok to be honest I don't know the difference between democrat or republican, conservative or liberal. Honestly I couldn't care less about those differences. My lack of knowledge however does not make me "ignorant" as to what people of whatever political orientation will act like. As much as I do know not all people of a political affiliation act the same way. Granted many in a certain area will act similar that does not mean they will all be that way. It's like how not all Christians have the exact same beliefs which is why we have denominations, but even then not all people of one denomination believe everything exactly the same. Also I am aware that religion and politics are very different matters. I only use religion as a comparison since the similarity between the two is that they have different groups which (at least here in America) you have the freedom to choose based on what you believe. Politics and religion probably don't mix well. I never said this guild was undeniable proof of anyone's morals being right or wrong. If I felt like the point of this guild was to prove how right or wrong a groups beliefs are then I wouldn't join. I just don't appreciate generalizations like that. I've got a sister who is a democrat and she's actually a damned good person.

- i'm pro life
- i think it's only right for someone to work hard for their money, and being allowed to keep it. afterall why am i going to college, so someone can live off of my back without doing any work? (though i know some people do need help out there, i do believe in charity etc and some sort of help for homeless or poor but don't live off of section 8 and food stamps for all of your life and expect me to be ok with that)
- i'm not against gays i'm friends with some, i'm not going to judge you
- to me republicans hold better family values, they appeal more to me
- democrats have hard mouths and complain about a lot of things, but when it comes to a legitimate fight they can't back themselves up. i live in a very democratic state, and it's frustrating being so alone in my views. but i am who i am, and i think for myself and the research i've done on republicans best fits me.

I totally agree, and I am in a family where my dad watches the news two hours a night, and so I've been well informed comparing to my friends for a long time, I am not republican I am independent, I think for myself, Same as my dad, but his views are different than mine because he is more ...........informed, the things I notice are : the constitution says we all have life, liberty and the pusuit of happiness, and liberals are never happy always complaining. My dad had facts to support the other two but..I forgot them.. And Obama is trying to please everyone,...THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE HE NEEDS TO CHOOSE HIMSELF A SIDE GAY OR NOT.
