The man saw the young woman fighting on the battlefield, her beast like savagery and ruthlessness. She was like a wonderful angle of death, enjoying her job and and conducting it with wonderful efficiency. He saw a kindred spirit, one who enjoyed killing as much as he.

Then he noticed the Rikti coming up from behind her, the fool wasn't watching her back. It was a forgivable mistake, so he decided to help her. Running up the back of his latest kill as it fell, he used the extra highest to jump over and bypass some of the enemies that where in his way.

Then he noticed the annoying brat that could fly come out of nowhere and kick the alien to the ground, then foolishly ignore it to ask her if she was fine!

Luckily the man Euan called Ben was able to make it to the scene to stab the undefeated alien as it got up from the attack. "Finish you kill next time," he said simply to the brat and ran off to find more kills and get back to his employer.

"How many more are there?" She asked herself as she held off two aliens at once. She stole a quick glance around her and saw another spot of fighting a mile away. "Hopefully, they fare well over there, and have a medic too." She ducked as a Rikti grabbed for her neck and slashed its legs. Her poor leather armor was stained with their gross green blood, and probably would be for a long time. She felt one of them seize her braided hair, and she ripped her head forward. The spikes added into her hair tore at its hands and it gave a roar. She stabbed it in the neck and swore as her sword stuck. With a savage oath, she ripped it out and turned and slashed all around her. She received another long cut on her left arm and a crushing blow to her back. "How much longer?" she whispered to herself. Slowly, she forced her self to fight while inching her way to the other group. She looked up again at the masses of Rikti. It would be a while before she could reach them.

The aliens seemingly kept coming, staining Euan's ax even more as he slashed them to bits. No matter how many pieces of Rikti flesh he tore through, one or two would come charging in after it. Even if he felt tired, Euan didn't show it as he cut through two more attempting to interrupt Pumpkinman's revival. "Is he awake yet?!" Is all the tense man could mutter before another mob of aliens swarmed the trio.

Something different than normal green blood caught his attention. Euan had almost lobbed off Slailie's head who had found her way to him. "Oh..sorry. You made it just in time. Think you can do anything to take out that ship?" As he was speaking, the spaceship still hovering above them continued to release the aliens.

The leader of the Mobisi then shoved his top officer's head down, just preventing her from a laser blast to the skull. Instead, Euan's shoulder managed to take the full blow, leaving the sound of burning flesh in it's wake. The victim made a disgruntled noise, gripping his shoulder while still trying to fend off some Rikti with the damaged arm.

Now he was facing the same situation his rival had just been in. On his knees, Euan continued to attempt the dismemberment of the aliens. He was successful though, but hacking through their knees then stabbing the torso's on the ground. Or at least, that's what he thought he was doing.

Even the pain couldn't stop Euan from yelling his lungs out at the Rikti, who still kept coming despite the massive amount of their dead comrades."DIE YOU JERKS!" Simple but effective. Somehow, his yelling voice startled a pair of aliens who's lives he gladly ended. Everything just felt too easy to him. Despite the occasional injury, these forces were still easily finished. The numbers didn't even compensate.

"They just keep coming..." Cove stated at the Ritki's reinforcements. After impaling one after another, their blood began to dissolve into his water-made spear, giving it a green tint. This didn't slow his actions, as he continued to evade incoming lasers. Pausing, Cove checked to see how his master fared. A beam injured his shoulder, yet the man continued to ravage the Ritki near him. Master is fine for now. Plus, he has Slailie with him. A rustling noise alerted him of a sneak attack, enabling him to prevent his heart being blasted from his body.

In the process, his left arm hissed from the laser, hot blood running down his skin. Cove spun around, once more cleaving the alien in two. A silent curse escaped his mouth as he moved his unharmed hand to his torn arm. Cove's fingers met the red liquid, staining the lance more when he grabbed it. The spear dance back and forth through the Ritki, slicing them as he ran by. On the ninth alien, however, the watery lance melted away into a harmless stream.

The Ritki saw this as an opening, and shot multiple lasers at him. Cove jumped backwards, a hole appearing on his shoe from the attack. "Perish!" Running around it, Cove leaned his weight on one leg, then leaped and landed a hard roundhouse kick at it's head. It fell over, struggling to get up. Before it could, Cove created another spear and stabbed it. the Ritki's squirming stopped. But this was only one of them; there was half-an-army yet to fight.

Despite their heavy casualties, the Rikti continued to fight strong and hard for the planet they wanted so desperately. The resistance the alien invaders were now experiencing by the humans even drove them to shed even more of the foreign red blood. No matter how many of their brothers flew at the skin covered organisms, the fight never wavered to the favor of one side.

What made everything even better was that the Rikti that had been sitting back and watching were in the middle of a devilish and cruel battle strategy. Every one of the aliens felled by human hands meant nothing, and if these rebellious creatures thought that was all of the Rikti's power, they were as simple minded as intended.

A command was then given to each of the green and brown colored aliens that remained or charging in to conduct battle with the humans. It came through a giant loudspeaker attached to the spaceship that had been recently assaulted the hill near the opposing force's headquarters. To them, the noise would simply sound like awkward clicks and moans, but what was being commanded was clear to the Rikti warriors, who spoke the alien language fluently.

Any in the middle of an attack halted and pressed a button somewhere on their mechanical suits. A few began to laugh with glee at the thought of what was coming soon upon these wretched humans. After the short time of preparation following it's activation, each of the Rikti's teleporters kicked in and shot them all back to their respected ships. Even the remains of alien corpses managed to teleport back to a special ship where any of the simple infantry rested.

The echo of a familiar clicking chilled the cold and desolate soul. His murderers even found a way to him in the void of his mind, their insufferable and foreign language haunting the eternity of his being. Pumpkinman found no escape from the green devils even after death, which the armor plated aliens took delight in committing.

The screeching laughter of the Rikti found a spot in his place too, griping the hero's heart with despair even more. If there was a body to do it with, Pumpkinman would've been shivering a bit. Why did death have to be such a terror when in life, the man never feared the release of his worldly bond. In fact, while dressed in his black and moderately orange costume, the past hero never felt fear. It was as if what he fought for prevented such humanly distractions from corrupting his heart.

Nothing had ever felt so awkward to Pumpkinman as the event that followed the horrifying screeching and clicking of the Rikti. Silence was now the normal sound easing his sensitive ear drums. What made the suffering end, and where was it? Pumpkinman desperately searched himself for the answer but found none. All he did was continue to wait and embrace whatever came next.

The empty and colorless void was then filled with the image of a sky, the blue tone as simple as one would have known. A cloud even floated lazily above, demonstrating it's usual sense of easy-going humans came to appreciate. This was not at all his sensing told him though. The smell of sweat overcame the distant picture, accompanied by the sound of fatigue and pain. Grunts, sighs, and long breathes harmonized together to welcome Pumpkinman back to his past.

Even the feelings people take for granted seemed odd to the hero, as if he was just brought into life. The dampness of the grass beneath him and the familiar clothes he had worn for that duration he walked the planet all comforted him in his passing on. A strange and dry taste alerted Pumpkinman that all five of his senses were in order, but for what reason? Why was he experiencing all of this when he was dead?

The man, who had spent more time in an endless void than any mortal could claim to remember, struggled to change the image before him, and it did after much effort. He was now looking at the battered remains of his rival, Euan, who was on the ground before him. More ache and Pumpkinman could seethe face of that woman, who could do something significant. The only thought that came in response was teleportation, and it seemed to fit.

Minds are very complicated things as Pumpkinman now realized from personal experience. He was no longer dead, or what seemed like it, but alive, and in a world full of color and vibrancy no doubt. But despite the years he had known this reality, it still seemed distant and unreachable, even now. The costumed hero's senses clearly disagreed, but continued to function as if just waking up on any average day.

Even fatigue and confusion couldn't stop pride from taking over Pumpkinman's emotions, leading him to find strength to sit up, pulling away from the woman. These human emotions came flooding back to him, glad to be out of their cage just as their owner was. According to the position of the sun, it was obvious that Pumpkinman didn't experience a long period of unconsciousness. It was obvious something made him wake up from the voids of near-death but his mouth was still working to get back it's power. Instead, all Pumpkinman did was sit there, looking at the woman and Euan, calmly astonished to be able to once again see, feel, taste, smell, and hear again.

Cove was in a half-lunge when his spear fazed right through the Ritki's body in front of him. A tingling feeling came as a wave through his body. Did the aliens have a new trick up their sleeves? Previously, the Ritki Cove was fighting paused for a few seconds to tinker with it's tech-belt, but the effects were oblivious now. The alien standing before him turned into somewhat of a hologram, then faded in and out until it was gone.

"W-what... Where...?"

Even for being an extra-terrestrial species, this war tactic was highly unusual. The humans knew for a fact the Ritki wouldn't give up so easily, so why did they retreat into their ship? Now taking the time to stand still and observe the casualties, he could feel the groans of his muscles and stinging of each cut he received. Energy-deprived, Cove kneeled, using his lance as support to prevent him from falling over. Even then, the lance began to melt away.

"What the damn is going on?"

The apprentice muttered, confused and frustrated by the turn of events. Silence flooded the battlefield, which gave it an eerie feeling. A premonition-like feeling overtook him, making Cove turn his head to locate his Master. Euan was standing with Slailie, they were fine. Everyone else seemed to be more or less 'okay', meaning they weren't lying on the floor bleeding profusely.

The lone woman faced exhaustion as she continued to attack the masses of Rikti. That exhaustion made her mind sluggish as her sword connected with the air instead of the hard armor of her enemies. She turned and tried to attack again, but there was nothing there. Nothing but the green blood on the earth and a trail of bodies leading where she came from. Her knees crumpled as her mind tried to comprehend they had left. Is this the end, did they leave, or are they coming back later to finish the job? She prayed that it was the former. She forced herself back to her feet and walked back among the bodies to claim her pack. From there, she walked toward the group she saw earlier, leaning on her sword the whole way.

Slailie looked around, baffled by what had just happened. She turned to look at Euan, and then up at the ships.

"Um...Euan...do I need to go up there anymore..?"

Slailie looked back down at Euan again. The silence that now engulfed the battlefield was unnerving to Slailie..odd. She glanced around the battlefeild once more, spotting Cove and seeing he was okay, continued to look to see what damage the Rikti had caused.
