In regards to the underskin theorizations:
The reason Reploids would not be upset about having, as it was put, their "skin being peeled off" is because it would not be felt as pain. I mean, to a Reploid, their armor is to us what clothes are. It's the wires and electronical essentials beneath that matter. There's no "underskin" which allows for Reploids to treat armors as clothes. That wouldn't make sense. If it were that way, then it would be Androids, not Reploids.
Besides, in cutscenes in various X games (X4 and Maverick Hunter X come to mind) you can clearly see entire body parts severed, or chinks of armor missing, simply because once it's gone, it means nothing. If we get a cut, we let it heal. If a Reploid loses and arm, it gets a new arm. That's it. There's no skin holding anything together. If I was more awake right now, maybe I'd get deeper into specifics... but as it stands, I'll be going to bed now. Argue later...

There's no "underskin" which allows for Reploids to treat armors as clothes. . Um, I'm not exactly sure which side you're arguing for here... If the armor is as clothing to a reploid, as you said, that means it can be removed. Which means there's something underneath, probably a skin-tone.

Sorry about. Like I had said, I was getting pretty tired (heck, it was 4AM).
Let me clarify:
Ever seen an electronic toy? Perhaps an old talking action figure you used to love. Well, let's pretend that action figure is now a Reploid. The outer shell, which we see, would be considered the Reploid's armor. Now, we all know what is beneath that: wires, batteries, all the essentials to allow the toy to function properly. In addition to that, the outer shell (Armor) can be removed and altered, though everything beneath it remains the same. The same goes for Reploids. All armor and outer appearances are simply covers for the wiring and essentials beneath. Sure, the armor pieces can be removed/repaired/changed, but when that happens, the only thing beneath it is wires and essentials. For those of you who have seen "The Day of Sigma" FMV, think back to the Reploids whose arms are missing/severed. You see the layer that would be armor, and immediately beneath it is electronics.
There, now I've been able to summarize my thoughts clearly (this time!). I hope that helped to clear up a few things. And I apologize for the lousy job I did late last night/early this morning.

The skin of a reploid would be thin enough that it wouldn't be shown in the drawing style Capcom uses... I mean, and these are games for kids, too. They're not going to show synthetic flesh flying and coolant bleeding liberally all over the ground or anything. But in the end, it's all up to speculation, as there's no true evidence one way for another. But you have to go back to what Dr. Light was thinking when he built X. I know that if I were building a sentient robot that could think for itself and choose its own way in the world, I'd build it to be as human looking as possible, since he'd be living in a world of humans. What's the use of having human emotions like love if you're unable to act on them? So, it's my opinion that under the armor Reploids look pretty human. A soft synthetic skin covering would be best for the durability a living organism needs because it's easier to repair if the reploid is injured. It's a lot harder to replace a broken piece of sheet metal than to repair a tear in the synthskin, just like it's easier to heal a cut than to heal a broken bone. Dr. Light would also want X to be as self-sufficient as possible, and would design him in a way that injuries would be the easiest for him to repair on his own. In my opinion, the synthskin protects the internals, perhaps with added layers of metal over places like the artificial heart and the power generator. The synthskin would also contain tactile sensors so the reploid could feel, cause it's difficult to function in the world if you can't feel anything. Try walking when your leg's gone numb, it doesn't work well. Without a synthskin it'd be difficult to give reploids any sort of sense of touch. Reploids were built to help do human tasks more efficiently than humans can, and so they need to at *least* have capabilities similar to humans.
In the end, my opinion comes to this... I love the Mega Man characters, and I want them to have the greatest quality of life possible. Imagining them as being close to human is the best way I can think of to do this.

Sorry to double-post, but I wanted to revive the thread, and get back on topic. ^^; This is my latest project, titled "Epilogue" http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2841919/1/It's a time-travel story, basically- but don't let that scare you off. My friend Triad and I have been working on this since last fall. Our goal is to try and clear up and connect the events of the four series that are supposedly in continuity; Classic, X, Zero, and Legends. It's going to end up being immensely long, but considering we have everything planned out and the whole story written out in script format to work from, updates should be fairly frequent. Anyway... we've put a lot of effort into it, so I'd appreciate any feedback you may have!

Jazz sat up. Something funny was happening. She opened her bedroom door and saw IceMan, innocently holding a pillow. His expression was one of fear. "Did you... hear something weird?"
"Uh-huh.... Something funny's going on, and I think that I should do something!" Jazz bravely smiled.
"I'll get the others! I bet they're up, too!" IceMan nodded, and ran toward FireMan's bedroom door. He turned the doorknob, and pushed the door open slightly. FireMan was sitting with his eyes closed, cross legged in front of a few bowls of burning oil. He had his hands clasped together.
"Hello?"
FireMan quickly put out the fires, and turned around. "What's wrong?"
"Something's in the house other than all of us. I don't feel good about this!" IceMan's eyes got bigger.
"Man, why did Rock have to leave at this hour? He said he'd be out until tomorrow morning... Well, hold on." He went into his closed and shut the door. IceMan heard the click of a light chain being pulled. "It's in here somewhere..."
"You're a smart little child, figuring out that someone was here. But now... There's more than one."
IceMan whirled around. There was only a little light, but IceMan could see the light reflecting off of the something behind him. He found a flashlight on the floor, and picked it up. He turned it on.
"Heeeeeere's GeminiMan!!!!!" He grabbed IceMan's arm and pulled him out of the room. His screaming and GeminiMan's maniacal cackling were heard all the way through the house. GutsMan's door flew open immediately. "WHOEVER'S WATCHING A SCARY MOVIE, TURN IT DOWN!!!!!!"
Roll came down the hallway, wearing a pink nightgown and fuzzy slippers. "What's the deal? I heard screaming..." She felt cold, robotic fingers on the back of her neck. She laughed a little bit. "Aw, IceMan! Stop it..."
"Roll! Run!!!" GutsMan cried, but it was too late. She was already being lifted up in the air with SnakeMan gripping her throat.
"Be afraid... be very afraid."

"Lady and gentlemen! May I proudly present... A controled Jazz?" GeminiMan's loud, horrible laugh caught everyone's attention. SnakeMan dropped Roll to the floor. GeminiMan stepped backwards and brought Jazz into the room. Her usually beautiful green eyes were a bloody red.
"Who do I kill first...?"
GeminiMan's evil grin widened. "Here... kill him first!"
He grabbed IceMan by the arm, who looked like he had been tortured. His ice-blue parka's hood had been torn off, revealing his white-blonde hair. His sleeves were slashed, and were turning red from blood gushing down his arms. His face's expression was still fearful, but filled with fright, fear, and anger. "Fine. So kill me! I won't feel a thing."
BombMan, who had recently been slapped and grabbed out of his room by TopMan, began to yell. "NO! What are you doing?! This isn't what my own older brother should be doing! I don't know what the hell they're doing here... Controling Jazz... Torturing you... Hurting Roll. But this has gone too far! I will kill those bastards IF IT'S THE LAST THING I EVER DO!!!!"
"How?!" ShadowMan, who just came into the room, was pulling on CutMan, who had a Shadow Blade stuck in his back. "The only pansy weapons you have are BOMBS!!!"
"Well, there's one down..." ElecMan came into the room, and tossed the remains of MagnetMan to the floor. "His weakness was electicity, right?"
"Hey, yeah!" CutMan said, and grinned. "ROLLING CUTTER!!!!" He grasped his pair of scissors, and flung them at SnakeMan. They stabbed him hard in the back. He fell to the floor, next to the remains of MagnetMan.
"Heh! That did work! SUPER ARM!!!" GutsMan had a large object, and flung it at TopMan, crushing him. His legs poked out from underneath the object.
FireMan came in the room just in time. "ALRIGHT!!! I HEARD SOMETHING WEIRD WAS HAPPENING HERE! I HAVE MY PROTON GUN HANDY!!!! (source: Ghostbusters) ...Wait. Oh. It's GeminiMan. I've heard another one of your weaknesses is fire. Y'ready?! FIRE STORM!!!!!" He aimed carefully, and got GeminiMan. He melted into a puddle. It quickly hardened, with many wires sticking out of it.
"Oh no! Four left!" BombMan pointed towards ShadowMan, HardMan, SparkMan, and NeedleMan.
"I've got it. Move over!" IceMan stepped in front of them...

"I have a few tricks up my cut sleeves!" IceMan smiled for the first time in hours. "I'm glad that Dr. Light had upgraded me!" IceMan put his hands together. He focused some energy. "BLACK ICE-DRAGON!!!!" He flicked his wrist towards the four robots. A black dragon's shadow, leaving a trail of icey dust, confronted them. It spewed ice-blue flames, freezing them. Suddenly, the dust froze into hard crystal-ice.
The other robots looked at him in awe.
"Woah! How did you do that?!" cried FireMan. "I've always wanted a dragon to summon!"
"I just need one more thing. CutMan, let me borrow those scissors!" IceMan said, turning to CutMan.
CutMan reluctantly handed his scissors to IceMan. "What are they going to be for?"
"You'll see! I'm also glad I've been tossing frisbees when I was bored!" IceMan backed away from the frozen robot masters. "If my calculations are correct, these scissors should cut them all in half!" He threw the scissors at the frozen robot masters. His calculations were right. They were sliced in half. "Oh yeah, if you guys want to know this: That ice doesn't melt."
The other robots were amazed. Roll slowly rose from where SnakeMan let go of her. "That was wonderful! All of you did so well!"
BombMan was sad. "I didn't do anything..."
"But ya helped us in spirit!" ElecMan slapped him on the back. "You're a good guy, you know."
"I guess..." BombMan said. "But I should cheer up! They're... uh... not moving. That's a good word other than 'dead'."

"Man, it's so you to forget your disk at school!" Lan said, as he and his friends walked into ACDC School. They walked into class 5-A, and looked around for a disk that Dex had forgotten. "Found it!" Lan said, holding up a disk.
"Thanks, Lan!" Dex said, taking the disk.
"Shh... I hear something!" Mayl said. Footsteps. Mayl's eyes were filled with fear. 'What do we do?" she said. More footsteps. Mayl squealed, and held onto Lan. "What do we do?!" she asked a second time.
"We should find out where they're coming from..." Yai suggested.
"Yeah... let's go." Dex said.
They all followed Lan. The footsteps were louder. Mayl nearly lost her mind. They went downstairs. The footsteps were louder. They went towards the teachers lounge.
"Here's where they're coming from!" Yai said. They went into the teacher's lounge. "They're coming from the principal's office!"
They approached the door, then stopped. They heard a laugh. They listened.
"I've found that TetraCode... Master Wily will be pleased to see this little beauty..."
Lan pushed the door open. "Alright, we've caught you!!!" he cried.
The man standing by the principal's laptop had purplish-blue hair, and yellow snakelike eyes. He had on a Chinese robe, with a large red rose stitched on the bottom. He had a shiny medallion with an emblem around his neck. And his PET was jacked into the laptop. He sneered. "Hikari. It's such" -he looked up and his hand flew to his forehead- "an honor meeting the hero... Who eradicated the WWW... who made Gospel meet its demise. And it will be an honor... to have him meet his death at such a young age!!!" He looked at the laptop. "FlashMan, do your stuff."
"With pleasure, Saiko Rei." said the navi. "HYPNO FLASH!!!" A ray of light came from the screen of the laptop, and hit Mayl, Dex, and Yai.
Mayl held her arms in front of her. "Nnnnnnhhhh...." she said, and walked off.
Yai held her arms above her head, and began to twirl around. "I'm a beeeeautiful swan!" and she twirled out of the office.
"Choo choo! Chuggachuggachugga..." Dex cried, and chugged out of the room.
Saiko Rei looked at Lan with the same sneer on his face. "Looks like you're next, Hikari."
"HYPNO FLASH!!!" yelled FlashMan's voice again. Another ray of light came from the laptop. Lan doged the ray and ran into the teacher's lounge.
Saiko Rei's sneer dropped, and was replaced by a scowl. "Damn that child."
"Lan! We should find something to block out all of that light!" MegaMan cried from Lan's PET.
Lan's eyes brightened. "Dex told us that the kids in 5-B went to an umbrella factory... Let's see if anyone left an umbrella here!" Sure enough, when they got to class 5-B, there was an umbrella lying around. "Okay, now back to FlashMan!"
They went back to the principals office. Saiko Rei yelled, "Now, FlashMan!"
"HYPNO FLASH!!!" came FlashMan's voice. Another ray of light came from the laptop. Lan quickly opened the umbrella. It blocked out the light.
Saiko Rei's eyes widened. "What?!"
"Now!" Lan ran to the laptop. "Jack in! MegaMan, execute!!!"
MegaMan was sent into the laptop. "There you are!"
A navi turned around. It was a blue-violet navi with light bulbs on his helmet and shoulders, with the emblem matching the operator's medallion on the sides of his helmet. "Ah, so you finally made it."
"It will end here, FlashMan."
FlashMan's eyes rolled. "Tch. I don't think so, blue dude."
"AirShot! Slot in!" Lan cried. He put a chip into the PET. MegaMan fired, and hit FlashMan, extracting 20 HP.
FlashMan laughed. "I've still got more HP, dimbrains! FLASH BULB!!!" Two bulbs lined up beside MegaMan. "I'd destroy them if I were you... Too late!" The bulbs flashed, and stunned MegaMan.
"I can't move!!" MegaMan cried.
"That's just how I want you, you mosquito." FlashMan laughed again. "THUNDER WAVE!!!" He put his hand in front of him, and a beam of thunder hit MegaMan.
"Yargh!" MegaMan cried. He wasn't stunned anymore, but he had half of his full HP left.
"BULB FOLLOWER!!!" FlashMan yelled. He pointed at MegaMan, and a line of different colored bulbs sped towards MegaMan. MegaMan quickly dodged them. FlashMan's eyes narrowed. "You're good, but not good enough."
"Cannon! Slot in!" Lan said. He put a Cannon chip into the PET. MegaMan fired, but missed this time.
Saiko Rei laughed. "I guess this isn't your lucky day, brat." He grabbed Lan by the throat. "You, your navi, and your friends are complete gonners." His grip tightened. His sneer replaced the scowl on his face.
"Laa... Laaaann!!!" MegaMan screamed. Lan's eyes widened, and he gave a right hook to Saiko Rei. He let go of Lan's throat, and backed into the wall.
"I've had enough. FlashMan, delete that little nuisance if it's the last thing you ever do!!!" he yelled.
"Bamboo Sword! Slot in!" Lan said. He slotted a sword chip into the PET. MegaMan slashed FlashMan with the sword. He began to divide into bits.
"H-How?" MegaMan said.
"Must be his weakness!" Lan said.
"Don't think this is over, MegaMan! The WWW will see your head on their wall!" he yelled, and was deleted.
Saiko Rei ripped the PET's jack out of the jack in port, and pulled his medallion off. "Don't think this is over, Hikari. The WWW is back. You are on the top of their blacklist. They will dissect you, slimy little frog." He ran out the door. On his way out, he dropped the medallion he pulled off. "I... will come back."
Lan picked up the dropped medallion. "They're back... But... Dr. Wily is dead!" He looked at the medallion, which had a symbol that looked like a spark. He turned it over. One Chinese letter was on the back.
