puddingphobia Nyomeive tried using the marquee tool....... but it didnt quite work out.... and the photoshop im using rite now (the free one remember?) doesnt have it so i had to ditch that idea -_-;; im a mouse user so i find that the solid brushes give me more control over what im doing... i have tried out a whole bunch of CG styles and cell-shading was just the next step ^_^ im still not sure what i like... and i think your suggestion would look really good if only i knew how to apply it... crying n_n *forgot what marquee even does* complicated na~~ I don't like to use photoshop for anything besides editing. I'm an OC user all the way, but only with airbrush. crying watercolors despise me. I think cell shading will be the death of me. XD I can't -stand- the solids, cuz I keep looking at the jump from one color to the next, and I just WANT to BLEND. x_x my mind insists! more control? *ponders* I don't know.. I only ever tried mouse with oekaki- watercolors, and it kinda warped into realism. Oo;; *pat pat* ish not hard to apply, try it, and you'll be amazed at how easy it is. XD

Nyome: well yeah, I agree "how to draw books" aren't very good for artists. but this one doesn't teach you have to draw really. it teachs backgroung manahement basics, tone techniques, and expressing light and shadows. not how to draw anime characters like others. but like i said this one is mostly for someone who is going to make a manga the old fashion way. I want to do that, but no money for the stuff i would need. I think my dad was telling me that I should get a tablet, but he didn't know what it was called. I'll look it up and maybe get him to get for me at X-mas time. I would buy it myslef, but I'm earning money for a scanner. well thank you very much for everything and to everyone else too. xd

Puddingphobia: ^^;; solids with smudges can work to a degree. Try airbrushes set at a lower opacity. 3nodding
o____o;; OC ish a program designed best to work with tablets though. Photoshop is better suited for mouse users. Photoshop on dial up (( I know, I have dial up XD )) takes maybe... n_n... 5.. hours...give or take. x_x if you do get OC though, get OC 1, cuz when you get addicted to OC 3, tis SO HARD to get go. crying
Chibi Nakoruru: ohh~~~ o_O so more the manga stuff, not the actual drawing. that's pretty useful. ^^;;
forget the scanner. x_x get the tablet. I don't see why people always want scanners instead. They cost pretty much around..somewhere...the same price.. my graphire 3 wacom tablet was only $100, I'm sure an used one would be much cheaper too. Once you have a tablet well... I honestly don't EVER use my scanner. ~_~ at -all-.
^^ no prob heart

Ack! Sorry I haven't checked up in this thread, I forgot I posted a picture in here. Thanks so much Darkish and Nyome for your critques! They really helped. 3nodding
puddingphobia - First off, awesome picture! My first CGs never looked that good. The lineart looks terrific, I especially like the little swirlies you put on her kneecaps. I think I'm in love with the bottom of her dress as well. x_x
I think your picture could benefit from some more dramatic highlights and shading. The colors look a little flat because they're all very similar to each other, and it doesn't exactly pop out at you when you look at it. Make the darks darker and the light lighter, and I think that would help a lot. ^^;
Have you thought of changing the color of her dress slightly? Her skin color is really similar to it, and it might make your picture a bit more interesting if you had a few more colors in there. Even a darker or lighter brown would do. 3nodding You also might want to add some shiny highlights on the hair, that would bring more color into the picture as well.
Again, awesome picture! I wub her scythe, and the background is really cool too, even if it is abstract. It's a lot better than the nasty white backgrounds I leave. whee

eeep I've been away for a while, gotta catch up! biggrin mei_chan Had to use blue, you pic is so red! blaugh (my fav color btw) Kawaii! 4laugh I really like it! The plushie and her eyes are great!I made some changes on the headshape that makes it looks better. And I've already said in this thred that I can't draw the funny curves inside an ear. O.o so i just mention it. ^^ her shoulder needs to be bigger, not thinner then her arm. She seems to miss a neck. xd Also need some fix up with the shadings and other details. But you really need to focus on getting your lines better. They're unsharp somehow. Try variate the thicknes also. Good luck drawing! :3 puddingphobiaWow! I really like your style! Great proptions for such diffcult pose. I simply love the idea! An attack sheep! heart You did a great job with the coloring and the clothing. On top of that the background match perfectly! So designish. The only think that bothers me about your picture is the placing of the nose and her stiff neck. Her nose is a little too far from her mouth and to much to the left. You can see it better when resized: Erm...I know this is'nt the place but I'm wondering if you might be interested in an art contest I'm going to host soon? I've got 2 million in prizes. (Sep 03 to Aug 04 letters, and a whole lot more)

It's very old and I don't have that teqniqe anymore, but I like it. I hardly ever draw myself so enyoy everyone! biggrin

Chemie yes i agree with the mouth/nose thing on my picture... i think i made the nose high on purpose because of the angle, but then misplaced the mouth sweatdrop
and sure id be interested in an art contest! well, it really depends on what the theme is....
Iyou im always afraid of adding too many highlights and shadows... and i agree that her dress should be a little differently colored.... thank you for the compliments ^_^
Nyome last time i downloaded photoshop it took 18 hours cuz of some reason or another.... sweatdrop im not trying THAT again..... by the way im trying to do the shoft shading thing on a picture im workign on rite now ^_^

Nyome Sexah meets kawaii! Wow I do love your style. The hair and face are great! especially his mouth. Great details on the jacket. *hugs the adorable puppy* Critic...well I can't figure the ears out. Maybe it's just me but the look fat somehow. And maybe you should en the pants on his left leg (our right) Now it just fades away. Thank u for your comments about my chibi. ^^ But who will save poor draggie? cry Soon I'll finish him in all missery. puddingphobia ME! xd (+ friends and family) They theme would be me how I look IRL but the pictures is not suppost to be realistic. I want you to be as creative as possible! All media and styles are accepted, anime/manga style is prefered. You just hade to draw so I can feel I'm involved when I look at the picture. (Hair, eyecolor, expression or cloths...) And the bonus theme would be a fairy tatoo that I'm going to make. Sounds interesting? biggrin Here's some new picture of me if you want to know what I look like.Password: hippie

~_^ Yeah, the ears were...egh, well gaia puppy ears are really weird. and he didn't state any other type so I went along with what I saw. I tried extending the leg, but it just annoyed me, so I left it. XD
