Shiela sipped the soup, and smiled around at the table. "Shiela, here. I help out."

Mitch sat the bowl on the table, the only thing he hadn't eaten from it was the very thin layer of the soup that lined the inside of the empty bowl. He saw this as a place of opportunity, at the moment it was a specific opportunity for one of those usually mundane treasures of life. He volleyed the thought across his mind, trying to decide if he should try or not. He didn't want to seem rude.
He made his decision, and raised the empty bowl up to the man who had served him the soup.
"Sir, can I have some more?"

The dog returned from Mike's apartment and looked around at the new people that had entered his master's building. For a moment it tensed up and was prepared to defend the children. However, it saw Lucy playing with a doll that the man with the odd hair from before had given her.
"Is okay," called the small girl from the floor when saw the light animal reappear, "they nice peoples!"
Looking at the group again the dog strode over to the front door and laid down by it. Feeling more reassured that nobody would leave or enter anymore without it's knowing it watched the group of newcomers eat and talk.
After a few moments two small sparrows made entirely of light flew through a nearby window that had a large crack in the glass. The flitted around for a moment to see what they had come to find.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Valentine. I am Professor Adrien Wullf. Welcome to Crosshaven."
He looked at the woman curiously but as we was about to inquire on her statement the boys voice caught his ear. He smiled amused at the Oliveresk picture he presented. "Of course you may" he said warmly standing and taking his plate back towards the kitchens. Re emerging from the kitchens with another bowl of soup filled to the brim.
Seeing the lab back he addresses him "you better not have eaten that paper. If you are hungry I have bread over here. Lucy does he eat?"
Setting the bowl down before the boy " there you go. What's your name child?" he asks but his attention is drawn to the two sparrows over head. Light sparrows Mikes creation obviously.

Valentine was startled by the three animals. They are made of pure light. She thought in amazement. "Very pleased to make your aquantance...uhm, Professor Wullf...are these, are these your animals?" She asked curiously. She looked down at the lab, as it had stationed itself at the door, were she still stood. Wow, She was inspecting its beautiful fur.

The dog looked up at Valentine. As if confirming her suspicions he raised his head so that her hand would rub against it. It was now obvious that he was solid and that it felt as though he had short, smooth, fur.
The two sparrows circled the room a few times. After returning to the window one of them flew into the crowd and proceeded to check out every person in the room. Once it's job had finished the small birds seemed to converse between themselves before one of them flew out of the window and the other stayed with the people and the lab.

She walks up to the sad looking building in search of some form of life, but she saw none. "They must all be inside." She pulled out her pad of paper and scribbled down a few notes about the exterior of the place, she then snapped a few photos as well.
She was sure that this was the correct address she had been given, but she was beginning to think she could have been wrong. With a shrug of her shoulders she walked towards the door, keeping a look out for any movement as she did so. Part of her had expected to see children playing outside and toys scattered in the lawn, but that was just hopeful wishing, she knew that it wouldn't really be like that.
Once at the door, she brushed her skirt and jacket off and tried to stomp the dirt off of her heals. "Hello? Is there anyone in here?" She quickly tried to brush her hair back with her hands, pinning it up into a loose bun that was slightly uneven, which would horrify her if she knew.

Mitch took the bowl in his hands and raised it up to his mouth, gulping the soup down straight. He'd had his eyes closed the entire time of swallowing the bowl of soup, so he was unable to take notice of the glowing birds. After he'd finished it, he sat down the bowl and answered the cook's question.
"I'm Mitch. And what is your name, sir?"

"Prof. Adrien Wullf, pleasure to meet you Mitch" he said then chuckled slightly. "Easy there mah boy you will give yourself a tummy ache eating so fast." He sombered ever so slightly and in a more serious tone added. "You are safe here and you may stay as long as you need."
Hearing someone outside he walked towards the door pausing near Valentine he said with a wide grin. "That goes for you as well, go there is a bowl of soup set for you at the table. Eat, rest a while. You look like you have traveled far."
Looking down at the lab and the sparrow nor he crouched and cut a piece of bread he had taken from the table in two. "Not sure if you lads eat but," he set the two pieces on the floor for the and straightened up. He was pretty sure the sparrow meant Mike would be coming home soon.
Opening the door half way he asked "Yes may I help you?"

Mitch nodded to Adrien."It is nice to meet you, too. And thank you so much for the soup, it's really tasty." After the Professor left Mitch stood from his seat and walked into a doorway. He could see cushions layed on the floor where the other children probably slept. The suitings of this place were much greater than what he had grown used to over a year of living by himself on the streets. It made the cushions on the floor seem more like grand beds that would be good enough for a king. He noticed a small, light blue book on the floor and he picked it up. It was filled with paper that had been written on and there were very good drawings in it done with crayon. He sat down on the nearby bedding and began to read it. One Dear Diary, I guess I should introduce myself to you. I'm. . . I can't remember my name. I just found you here where I woke up and I wanted to write in you. I hope you won't mind.
Sorry. I think I passed out. I woke up in this room with other kids and there was a guy wiping my forehead with a wet rag. He said his name was Mike and I was in his home for children. He seems really nice. Mitch wanted to go on reading it but he decided to stop on the first page because it was rude to read other people's journals. He was regretting not stopping after the first line, and even regretting touching the book in the first place. He noticed that he must have lost his sense of ownership over the time away social things. He coughed heavily, which made him drop the book, then he wandered slowly out of the room and stood just outside the doorway, noting that Adrien was greeting someone at the door.

The two animals looked down at the bread and then up at Adrien. They exchanged a look between themselves that seemed to say, "What do we do with this?" before the lab noticed Mitch walk to the children's "bedroom".
Getting up, the lab walked across the large dining room and over to the boy who was in the doorway. The light animal did this partially out of curiosity and partially out of the need to know where everyone in the building was.

She had been attempting to get a peak inside the house through the boarded up windows, and when she heard the voice, she jumped. Turning back to face the door once again, she smiled, her face a little red from embarrassment,"Hello, my name is Charlie Haze of The Crosshaven Post, I was told that someone by the name of Mike had opened up an orphanage at this location."
She stood on the tip of her toes a moment, looking past the man to see if there were any children inside, and smiled when she heard a few young voices chatting away from somewhere inside. She dropped down from the tips of her toes and looked back at the man once again, "You wouldn't happen to be Mike would you?"

Mitch kneeled down and stroked the soft fur of the dog's back gently with his free hand. His face broke a smile.
"Hey, boy. You seem to be a special one, doncha?"

The dog wagged it's tail and looked up at Mitch in the best attempt at a smile.
The bird on the other hand, had fluttered to the cracked door to get a better look at Charlie.

Valentine made a quick nod and got out of the doorway. With a bit of hesitation she took a seat and began to eat the soup. It was warm and delicious, she sighed, it had been a very long trip indeed. She wasn't exacly certain but she knew for a fact that she had gotten lost too many times and it had probably been over half a year since she had eaten a decent meal and not a half cooked somthing that she had decided to heat over a campfire before she continued walking. Val noticed Mitch playing with the dog and she smiled a bit. She had never had any siblings, but she always wanted one or two younger ones.
