I prefer the five hour one with Colin Firth. It is the complete story, not some cut up thing. Plus, he is so cute as Mr. Darcy.

I like the BBC version much better. I don't know why, It must be Darcy, I just like him more in that version. Still, nothing beats the book.

All right, strict adherence to the book definitely shakey...lots of things left out, and Lady Catherine was changed a bit too much for my tastes at the very end, but overall I still found that one the most enjoyable one I've seen. The actors in it just were the characters for me, and the whole spirit of the movie was very sweet and funny and pretty much perfect with my vision of the book. just saw the 1940 version last night and it made me feel giddy. i liked that they changed some quotes from the book in order to appeal to the audience in 1940 and the costumes, though not regency era, are wonderful! i especially liked the ending, it was so... old school overdramatic hollywood. i recommend it.

I don't think Keira Knightly was a very good choice. She's a good actress, but I don't like her as Elizabeth.

I found that version at my work, as well as a version of Emma/mAnsfield Park and Northanger Abbey I haven't watched. ((My work is in the part of the University library where students can go to watch videorecordings)) I am plannin on watching Mansfield Park this week.

Dewdew Kira Supporter Everyone needs to see Greer Garson one. It's great fun. I've seen the BBC version, but I'll admit that I sort of cringed at the latest movie and didn't go to see it. I think it was the wardrobing, but I can't say for sure what turned me off of it just from the previews. Apparently the wardrobe and houses were more acurate to the time frame then most of the Austen films. And I heard this from a reliable source. They were. I think that's partly why I liked it so much. I hate seeing historical movies where women are caked with modern looking make-up. I noticed in the BBC version, alot of the women have dark lipstick which they wouldn't have worn in real life back then unless they were very...disrespectable women. I liked the 2005 version, though I don't really like Keira Knightly as Elizabeth. I think they chose good actresses for the other Bennet girls, especially Jane, and Mrs. Bennet. The emotions of the book were also captured very well. I loved Mr. Darcy. I don't see why ya'll don't find him attractive.

I thought Keira Knightley was good overall, but she underplayed Lizzy's wit. Which is the main reason she's my fave Austen character!

Most accurate to least accurate in historic films: 1) clothing 2) accessories 3) hairstyles 4) makeup i read this on a website about clothes from the Regency period. According to her makeup is much more likely to reflect the fashions of the time when the film was made, then to the time when the film was set. Who said we didn't find Mr Darcy attractive. I think both Mr Darcy's are pretty hot!

Actually I like Pride and Prejudice from 1940 o.< I don't see many people talk about it as much as the BBC one or the more recent 2005 one but....
I personally have a love for black and white movies so this one just hit the right spot. Not only that but I found it by complete accident and I fell in love with it as soon as the opening scene started.
Though if excluding that one I would have to say the BBC one.
