When had Tobias entered the room? Nobody else had seen when he entered, but a few of them noticed when he finally broke from his position against the wall, almost exactly as he had been upstairs. He always seemed to have the uncanny ability to not draw attention to himself until he made himself blatantly obvious.
His motivation to abandon his position of obscurity was to also browse a section of the vast library encircling him. He half-listened to the odorous caretaker as he babbled on about coins, only interested by the mention of "Millenia". Quite obviously, there was a definition of the word that Tobias already knew that pertained to a measurement of time. However, within the context of Doyle's words, the Millenia he referred to seemed to be more of a tangible thing. He couldn't help but feel that it was a name he had heard before.
But soon the old man was onto subjects that bore no importance to him, and he continued his search. So far, nothing he had seen here had been contrary to his expectations, so he supposed this place really was a key step in his quest. He figured none of these books would be labeled "All About the Masamune", so he instead scanned the red titles for anything about legendary swords, or swords in general...

Eh? What the hell? What was a "Skill Brand", and what was the "be warned" part all about? MG turned the pages looking for further info, and then turned toward ol' Doyle. Hopefully the geezer could shed some light. Tucking the book under his arm, MG tapped the wizened purveyor of information on the shoulder.
"Yo, um... what's a Skill Brand?"

Tobias removed the one labeled "Swords of Note". He would have been surprised if this really did hold knowledge pertaining to the legendary sword, but nonetheless, he opened it, and poured silently over the old pages. He took note of the other two as well, knowing that while they likely pertained very little to his quest, they were still of interest to him.

Doyle was wrapped up in conversation with himself, apparently planning some sort of journey for the lot of them. He was very fidgety and snappy, and when MG asked his question, all he replied with was,
"'s in the book. Check the back."

((Robby)) Useful information in Legendary Swords: A Guidebook...
-Section on Asian Swords, specifically multiple examples (possibly all fake) of the Masamune. Taped to the page of each one's picture and description was a set of three coordinates that probably didn't need to be memorized yet. There were five total.
-Notes and objective descriptions of practically every sword you could imagine or think up.
Learned Appraisal (Sword) Level 5!
-Apparently used to come with some kind of "Myrmidion Skill Brand", but that is definitely not in the book.---------------------------------------------------------

Skills. We all need them, right? Yes, we needz mad skillz.
You will learn skills as time progresses, and it seems some of you already have, so let me drop in a little crash course in what they are and how they work in The Darkness Chronicles.
Passive Skills
You don't have to do anything for these skills to be active. Usually they're always beneficial, and are automatically and constantly active. Take the skill Appraisal, for instance. Tobias will always be able to know, thanks to the book he just read, the power and attributes of any sword he comes about.
Active Skills
There are actions that you will have to consciously put in place to get by. Let's take the skill Magnum Shot, for instance. If someone wanted to perform Magnum shot, at the very least, we'd know they would have to call out the skill by placing <> at the bottom of their post. The post can or can not describe the attack or skill, and there are benefits to both approaches.

Tobias smirked bitterly at the section on the Masamune. These were descriptions he was not unfamiliar with, but the coordinates were worth noting. He felt that one of them was familiar, and he knew for certain that he had been to one of the other coordinates. But as for the others.... they seemed to be a new piece of information. Interesting....
Having a better understanding of the contents of the remaining two books, he put back the book of "Slashery", and tucked away the other, thinking it may come in handy later.
At present, however, something that required total participation of all present seemed to be underway, so Tobias walked towards the larger group as a whole. He said nothing, but seemed to suggest from his stance that he was ready to continue.

On the back cover, taped against its surface, was a small metal cast in the shape of two crossed swords. Scrawled beneath the item was "USED ONCE ALREADY".

To put it simply, Kunai was a packrat. It occurred to him in a thought that all things had a purpose, given the right situation. What people saw as trash, Kunai saw as a tool. It seemed very strange that a faucet part (or so he thought it was) would be, quite ironically, in a fireplace. Brass, of all things? Not the most useful metal- it didn't matter. All Things Have a Purpose.
Kunai looked around the fireplace- almost frantically, as if the brass thing might melt before his very eyes- for a poker or stick of some sort, something that would allow him to pull the metal from the coals.
((Douchebaggery with a Knife/Gun/Stick sounds like the best book evar.))

Well, that was informative...
"I'm sure no one would mind if I just..." The gambler pried the metal thingamajig free of its strappings and pocketed it, then snapped the book shut and slid it back onto the shelf. At the very least, he could probably pawn the brand dohicky for enough for a few drinks.
