...saidar? Is that like Channeling? Oh! Gwynne's sister? I don't know... Ilisian never glowed on her...only Gwynne and...the stranger. Ilisian glowed bright on him...
:Medixia smiles, genuinely. It seems she doesn't mind Selene being an Aes Sedai. She admits, to herself, that she would have to learn what Ajah means and if some different colored Ajah, if what she understands from what she's heard to be correct, have different beliefs. What was this about a mission in Tear, anyway? Medixia decides not to question that. It seems Selene is much more interested in the strange stone structure they were just at and Jazral.:

Selene giggled before she could help herself. "Saidar is the female half of the One Power, that means only females who can channel have access to it. Saidin is the male half, only a man can use it. And please, what is an 'ilisian'?" Behind her Thunder had walked up and nuzzled her shoulder, he could sense that she was happier, turning slightly she smiled and softly stroked his muzzle.

One Power?
:Medixia blinks, confused, at Selene's comment on saidin and saidar. She looks at Ilisian. The right ring had glowed upon Gwynne. The left ring had glowed upon the stranger, Darz. Did that have anything to do with Selene's explaination? Medixia jerks her head so that her eyes look back to Selene at the next question. She holds her right forefinger to her lower lip as she thinks how to best answer. She then rocks back and forth, same thoughtful pose, on her heels.:
Ilisian...is Ilisian... Isainde says they glow because of Channeling...this One Power you mentioned... Ilisian is my ever present companion!
:Medixia smiles, widely, as she speaks of her ter'angreal. She doesn't speak of Ilisian as objects. It might also be interesting that she refers to the pair of rings in the singular. She looks at Selene as if she's answered the question, perfectly:

It had been a quick jump ahead to make sure things were not going to be troublesome before they got to the city. He didn't want an ambush of any sort at the city gates, so he grew close enough that he could investigate without attracting attention. It seemed normal enough, guards standing watch at the city, though they dressed in colors not of Tear.
Odd that the guardsmen would wear different colors. Perhaps it is al'Thor's doing. He has changed nations. He can change the guardsmen's colors too.
Mounting back to his stallion, Tallas, he began a quick return to the group. He had never thought anthing more drastically strange could happen. But somewhere, deep down, he knew that anything was possible. As he got closer, he noticed two horses were missing. And the two women without horses were not Tarma and Nanako.
Fear stabbed at his stomach, turning it into a molten ice that threatened to distract him, but he contained it, left it hidden. Nikoru would have felt his fear, but she had not reacted much to the change of people. Perhaps they were just travelers and Tarma and Nanako had been forced to ride away for some reason.
As he approached, he noticed that there was no place for the two women to hide. Catching the tail end of the interaction between, he stopped just inside their circle and looked from each of them, not quite sure what to say. Finally, after a moment to bring clarity, he looked down at the woman with the quarterstaff and the Tuatha'an girl.
"I'm Markus Draezon." He thought to say more, but words didn't come to him. Usually, he was smooth with speeches, but since the disappearance of his colleagues, he had felt lost and removed. That nagging feeling deep inside him wouldn't silence itself. Instead, he looked to Nikoru and Selene, his eyes showing that he had some information to share, but wasn't sure to trust these two new women.
Given the chance, there would be a chance soon. Until then, he could wait. For once, it was not a pressing life or death issue. And for that, it was almost worth celebrating.

Selene raised her eyebrow once more in a questioning manner; it had finally occurred to her who Ilisian was, "Your rings... are they Ilisian?" Selene looked to Isainde once more, then addressing her she asked, "How would you know they glow because of the One Power? You can't channel." Before she had an answer the galloping of a horse's hooves brought Selene's attention to Markus, nodding to him she smiled, she was still grateful for his kindness from earlier. Looking to Medixia and Isainde she decided to introduce them to him. "Markus, this is Medixia Teverice of Lake Somal in Arad Doman and her companion is Isainde, a Tuatha'an."
As she spoke she indicated to both of them, she was sure Markus could figure it out without her guidance but it was more out of habit then anything more. "They know our friends, they know Jazral, and they said that Darz believes we are in a mirror world. You remember when we were attacked? Before everyone disappeared? Well, someone had used a large source of Saidar before it happened; I didn't think anything of it because I was so distraught over the loss of Jazral. I think that's how we got here. Someone, not sure who, sent us here. But why?"

Nodding to each woman in turn, he greeted them. His air of being a leader seemed to flare to life as if he was taking charge of the situation without realizing it. Those memories trapped in his head, those voices, and essence of what he was, both warder to an Aes Sedai and son to a High Noble in Kandor, he had picked up the cloak of commanding power. But he was in no means intimidating. Just a short man, he still radiated of strength and importance.
"Well met, Lady Medixia, Lady Isainde." He considered Selene's words, and took a moment to stare at her, then at the two newcomers. The shock was not visible on his face, but it was still within him. Bloody flaming convenient. A mirror world, if it's true, and no real clue as to a means to get back. Either we're supposed to be here by some divine plan of the Pattern, or else we're just unfortunate enough to be without our colleagues in a different world."
Looking over his shoulder to the looming tooth that was the Stone of Tear, he sighed. "There are differences. The guardsmen are not wearing the colors of Tear nor of the Lord Dragon's. As to what it means, I have no clue. Suddenly, I'm not entirely sure I want to visit the city. I read a few works on the theories of mirror worlds. Anything is possible in them. They take on the different realities that could exist from the real Pattern." He paused a moment, thinking. "That assuming that the Pattern we're from is the true Pattern."
"For all we know, there is no Dragon Reborn here. For all we know, Aes Sedai don't exist in this world." He didn't continue his train of thought because it would discourage everyone. But he wanted to go on about the fact that if Aes Sedai didn't exist, then there was no White Tower library full of the knowledge that he had browsed some time ago. There was no defense against the Shadow. And with no defense, Dreadlords and Forsaken might rule every city, waiting for the Dark One to break free and begin his reign.
And if that was true, friends of the Light were going to be few and far between. The War against the Shadow might never have happened here. It might have been an overwhelming defeat without resistance.
Light, I hope not!
"We need to find our way back." Thinking it through, logically, the only place that could have been the source of their journey here was at that tall, symbol etched stone. He had seem one before, several years ago, but it was just as meaningful then as it was now. He didn't know how it worked, nor did he understand what the symbols meant. It was just a stone that dated before the Age of Legends, if the records were accurate, and no instruction manual to use them. Looking to the two Aes Sedai, he asked them the question of the hour. "Nikoru, Selene, do you know anything about this stone or how we got here?"

((Pardon me if I'm mistaken, but I was under the impression, from my readings and discussions, that nobody knows the names to those giant stone structures. That's the reason, primarily, that I changed one of my posts to not read Portal Stone sweatdrop ))
[Jc EDIT: As I realized that after the fact, I have thus edited my previous post to reflect that.]
I'd prefer to get back...
Medixia purses her lips into a pout and presses her forefingers together in a look that can only be described as sad or homesick. This place doesn't feel right... To an herbalist, this place doesn't feel right at all. She looks back and forth from Selene to Markus. She quickly paints a smile back upon her face as she doesn't want to upset their mood. Medixia thinks for a moment before looking back to the massive stone structure.
What if that man with the sword figures out how to get us back?

Taking a moment to consider the question, he looked to Selene, Nikoru, and back to the two newcomers. It was a simple question, and as he thought it through, it was quite plainly a simple answer. Meeting her eyes, he gave his answer.
"If he brings us back, then we go back." It was the addition to her question that he wanted to explain to the entire group. This wasn't exactly a normal situation and no one understood what was really going on or how to fix it. Without hesitation, he continued on. "I do wish to see if there is information in the Tear library that might help us, or if we can find another Aes Sedai that might know something of these stones. The stones are important, old, and there must be some record of them somewhere."
He just didn't mention that the information concerning them was a far cry from a full day's study. He had glanced over the pages that were there, searching for something else when he had been bonded to Adeline. Closing his eyes, he grew very tired at the thought. It wasn't so long ago that Adeline had been slain by the Shadow. It had been even less time since she had been brought back by the Shadow to find the hidden treasures that the two of them had stashed.
It was those treasures that he tried so hard to forget. They had caused so much trouble, though a few relics remained. Idly, his fingers touched the golden ring he wore. It was a ter'angreal that allowed him to open a Gateway to a place he had "felt" before. Feeling was simply opening his mind to the ring while in a location. He was then familiar with that area. It was the best way to describe it, because words don't really explain how an arm works. It just happens, like a movement of the body.
That brought him back to his time with Nikoru and that it had been such a short bonding time and so many troubles had found them. They had been attacked by Darkhounds, then by some ter'angreal madman-turned-monster. He had returnedhome to Kandor to meet up with his father who he had feared would execute him on sight but instead revealed why his past had been so broken and without family, and later broke through a siege army that had surrounded a small village near the Two Rivers only to have to fight off that army again and defeat it when the walls came down. Then, to bring more irony into the situation, the Seanchan invaded in that village and helped fend off the attack. The proceeded to attack his friends and colleagues.
Narrowly, they had escaped and went their separate ways. Feeling pulled to Tanchico, he went with Nikoru and company only to be captured and nearly executed. He had had strange dreams while caged and waiting death only to mysteriously have a knife stabbed through his hand. When he woke, that knife was still there, so he used it to free himself. Oddly, he let the knife go and it vanished. He still doesn't understand that, though he doesn't question his freedom. Now, from those dreams, twelve versions of him in past lives speak to him at odd times, giving him insight and skills into things he had never thought of. Nikoru had been leashed a second time and had taken many weeks to overcome the fear. He still felt the rage in her, the fear and the turmoil that was left behind from that second experience, but it had dwindled as her freedom returned.
Illian had brought news of a Borderland attack, though he did not go. Agreeing to the innkeeper of their hotel, an old friend of his, to deliver a letter to another friend in Tear, he had set out. And somehow, in this short span on time, he had made friends and enemies. But largely, of all those experiences, being trapped here in a supposed mirror world of the true Pattern, he just couldn't grasp the situation completely. It looked so real. It felt just it should have, but some gut feeling inside him told him something was wrong.
Am I feeling the effects of this world weighing down on me? He didn't think any more on it. The feeling of exhaustion swept over him, taking only a moment, those thoughts and transitions he had made flashing through his mind in the blink of an eye, and as suddenly as he was tired, he was prepared and steadfast.
Looking to Selene, he hoped it was the right decision. To be without your bonded was agony. If she thought him gone, if the bond felt broken, then she was holding up well. If he was still there, some distant remnant that crossed into this world's Pattern, then there might be hope of getting back. Maybe that was the key. Maybe Darz and Gwynne could use Jazral's bond with Selene to locate the group and pull them back through.
Or maybe it was wishful thinking and they were forever trapped here or in other mirror worlds, never to find their true home again. He pushed the thought away as soon as it formed. They would get back. He would see to it personally.

:Medixia hears Markus' words, but his look of thought, contemplation, and brooding almost alarms her. It takes her a moment, but, racking her brain, she recollects the name Selene gave him. Nodding to herself, ever so slightly, she'll keep track of that name, too. It's impolite to go forgetting names. All the while she's thinking, Medixia tries to come up with...some kind of response to Markus' statement, and somewhat implied question. At least, she sees an implied question.:
We should all stick together... There is safety in numbers, and... What if the information in this...mirror world has nothing remotely related to ours...?
:Medixia's a bit frightened. She doesn't like the idea of staying in a world they know nothing about. The Aes Sedai could be crueler here than where she came from...if they even existed. That thought actually causes a lump in her throat. Why? Why is she afraid of a world without Aes Sedai? Shaking her head, Medixia looks to Ilisian. At about this point, she's leaning on her battle-chain, currently looking to be a quarterstaff, like it were a walking-staff. Quickly, she brushes her hair and looks to her kinswoman, Selene.:
The swordsman knew! He has to know of something to get us out...

(Posting for Nikoru for now.. anything I do for her character is Olive so, don't be confused when there's multiple POVs in a single post)
As the two women appeared, taking away Nanako and Tarma, a low growl sounded from her mouth before she realized what she was doing. Snapping off the sound, placing that Aes Sedai serenity about her, she grasped the One Power by instinct.
After no apparent threat presented itself, she relaxed a little, then released the One Power. This was all done in the span of just a few seconds. Her wolf instinct had her on edge as it was. Things did not feel right here. She could sense wolves off in the distance, though when she caught images and phrases from them, it was as if it was another language for all she understood.
But somewhere, deep down inside her, she knew exactly what they were saying. In a way, it was like having her head wrapped in cotton and still having to walk around and listen. It just wasn't as easy.
When Markus returned, she watched him. She could feel through the bond that something was amiss, though his introduction was more important at that very moment. Whoever these guests were.. Well, the group might be stuck with them. It would do well to make allies rather than enemies.
"My studies at the White Tower did not encompass this area of knowledge. And I'm afraid I don't know of many Brown sisters that devoted their time to these artifacts, though I'm sure there's bound to be some knowledge. I had heard a rumor that Verin had used one, once," she said in response to Markus' question. "But that does not help us in the here and now."
Frowning, she looked from face to face, finally settling on Selene. It was almost a hopeful look, plastered in a calm, neutral gaze that could have meant anything. But it was Selene who knew she was most interested in disovering how they got here.
Looking back to the young girl with the strange staff, she addressed her concerns. "If the world we are in now has no relation to our world, then we will still fight to survive and figure out how to get back to our world." It was the best she could offer, the best anyone could offer right now, because they had so little to work with. This was becoming a usual trend and it was becoming very tiring very quickly.
"I believe a good starting place would be the Tear library." Turning to look back at Markus, she nodded. "Strength in numbers, safety in caution. If we work together, maybe we can solve this riddle."
Kicking her heels into her mare's flanks, she took off at a trot, Markus beside her on Tallas, his stallion. She smiled at him, but it was a grim smile, a smile fit for a survival situation. She knew they didn't have much to be optimistic about. Things just didn't sit well with her.

Selene looked to Medixia and Isainde, addressing them she said, "Come on, you can both ride behind me on Thunder. It'll be a tight fit but better then walking." Walking to his side the Domani woman hoisted herself up into the saddle, un-caring that her skirt was pushed up way above her knees, showing off her smooth coppery skin. She then held a hand down for Isainde to grab on to, Selene figured she could sit in between herself and Medixia since she was just a child.
After Isainde was up and sitting close to her, Selene then helped Medixia on to Thunder's back and channeled briefly to push her as far forward as possible, it was awkward but she figured Thunder could manage. "Please hold on to me," she instructed Isainde, "and you can hold on to her." She told Medixia. Once they were all situated in as comfortably as they were going to get she nudged Thunder forward with her heels.
With a whinny the battle horse took off at a fast trot to catch up to their companions, after they had caught up he settled on the same pace as the others. "So, she we continue to hide the fact that we're Aes Sedai or pray that we can use it as a bargaining tool and flaunt it?" She asked to Nikoru.

Selene Rosara Selene looked to Medixia and Isainde, addressing them she said, "Come on, you can both ride behind me on Thunder. It'll be a tight fit but better then walking." Once they were all situated in as comfortably as they were going to get she nudged Thunder forward with her heels.
Things were happening too fast for Isainde to make much sense of. She followed the Aes Sedai's instructions quietly, making no protest when some invisible force - The Power... - gave her a gentle shove forwards and then brought Medixia up immediately behind her. There wasn't much she could have done by complaining in any case.
Carefully wrapping both arms around Selene Sedai's waist and feeling Lady Medixia do the same to her, Isainde braced herself for the ride. She had been on horses before, of course, but somehow she had never warmed to the experience. Selene Sedai seemed to assume that all was well, and Isainde could not bring herself to bother someone who used the Power so casually as she seemed to. She must be very strong...

:Medixia hadn't even noticed Ilisian light up when Nikoru. The events just transpired too quickly. However, Selene's using of the One Power doesn't go unnnoticed. Ilisian shines directly on her. It's rare to see the ray of light shine like that. Medixia has only seen it three or four times, before. She stares at Selene while they ride along, hardly noticing Isainde's uneasyness. Is something wrong, Isainde? You seem disconcerted... Isainde shook her head slightly. "It's nothing, my Lady." What use complaining? There was nothing to be done for it except probably angering the Aes Sedai. The Way of the Leaf taught acceptance of what was.
She looked forward towards the only man in the party, this Markus Draezon. He seemed far more polite than most men she had ever met, save that tall man with the silver eyes and the sword. Isainde knew the Wheel had woven good men into the Pattern along with the Darkfriends and brigands and other unsavory types, but it was hard to trust that any man was one of the good ones. The Way had not tought her acceptance of the things that had happened to her at the hands of men. There was no harm in being wary.

The day was boring. The sun rose in the morning with only the idea of crawling across the sky and then falling below the horizon like some cat and mouse game with the moon. Til kicked at the small pebbles in thie dirt path that approached the gates he and his colleague Bron were detailed to. This is flaming stupid. There's not going to be any Shadowspawn attacking us. We don't need to bloody guard these people when there's the flaming Stone of Tear.
Sighing, he pushed the thought out of his mind. It seemed like every few minutes it raced across his thought process, stirring up the bitterness that came with his post.
It was rare enough that people came to Tear this way as it was. Those from Illian, as much as they hated Tairens, would send trade convoys. It was an unsteady alliance, though it was moreso to fuel those allies farther north who dealt more directly with the Blight.
Looking up, Til saw the three horses approaching and thought little of it at first. It was the lead man that caught his attention most, but then, the fact that the were not Illianers was a sight to see.
"Good day, m'lord, m'ladies," he said as they came within earshot. The gate was closed, as it was ordered to be unless people wished to leave or enter. A precaution, they said. "Welcome to Tear. What news of the war do you bring?"
"Thank you," Markus replied with a simple tone to his voice, as if he were not a leader. He was aiming for blandess above all other things. "I'm afraid I know very little of the war," he replied. It was a blatant lie, because he knew nothing of a war. "My company and I have been somewhat distant from the events of the world." He didn't go on, hoping he could get information out of the lad.
"Last bit of news I had come through this gate--and it has been a while, mind you--was that Cairhien was under seige by the Blight. Some say there's little hope it'll hold out long, but then, Tar Valon lasted longer than anyone thought possible."
As if nothing of the ordinary had been said, he responded with a light, but serious tone. "Light shine on Cairhien. Though, I am afraid that it won't withstand the force of attack as well as Tar Valon. They could use a strong leader, I'm sure. In fact, we all could."
"Aye, m'lord. A shame the Dragons fight amongst each other. They should realize, out of all of us, that unity is something we need--not division." He paused for a moment, as if reconsidering something. "If only we had the Aes Sedai from the Age of Legends, then we might stand a chance against the Shadow. But those, I think, are just myths. Those folk were a step below the Creator himself, worthy of praise and worship. They left us centuries ago, going back to their perfect world, leaving us these hateful castouts that now threaten our very souls. But then, I'm just a small man, a soldier. No one wants my thoughts on how things should and ought to be." He spat to the ground to show his distaste of everything.
"Everyone needs a chance to share their ideas. It's what makes us who we are." Looking back to his companions, he turned back to the young man. "May we enter Tear?"
"Certainly! Forgive me and my ramblings," he said as he darted back to the small building. Pulling the wheel, the gate opened enough to allow the two through. Once they passed through he let the gate shut again, closing them in until they chose to leave. Returning back to his post to kick pebbles, he thought in a slight confusion.. Who, exactly are those folk? They're unlike anything I've ever seen before.. Maybe nobility of the North, Andor maybe, come to take refuge from the destruction that's coming? Maybe...
