My stash is shrinking!! I'm trying to save money, so I've been using yarn left over from my projects to make new ones... crying

I have 2 drawers of wool. And a giant plastic garbage bag of the stuff that didn't fit in my drawers.

My SnB friends and I have decided to have a stash busting/swap soon! We all know we have yarn we don't really care about and so we are all loading it up and having a swap party. Hopefully, I can reduce the stash while only making a couple of tasty new acquisitions!

I've never actually counted, but this is my current stash:

There's stuff in the middle section (the closed drawer at the bottom of the picture)... probably 10 or 12 skeins of the special stuff (sock yarn and fancy yarn).

Plus another storage bin full, and 3 skeins of Wintuk that I'm using to make a Jayne Cobb hat.

I have three pastic bins full of yarn, a blue one twice as big overflowing with the stuff, another blue bin hold nothing but projects and the yarn for it, and it's scattered all over my craft room. It took me a while to amass it though; it's about four or five years worth of collecting.

Well, according to my Ravelry page I now have 77 different colorways of yarn. Take that as you will. I have been working my way through my stash now though so I used to have more. xd

My mom and I have an old chest full of knitting things (patterns, yarn, needles, accessories), though it also holds some blankets. We don't really have a stash, just some left-over skeins and a few inherited pieces. We're very, very firm on only buying with a project in mind, and then not buying more until we're done with those projects, and always checking to see if we have a yarn that will work first before buying more. I don't believe I'll ever have a real stash, nor do I want a real stash. I think it'd drive me crazy.

Most of my stash is from my mom and grandma and it's a lot of random weird yarns. I'm having some trouble figuring out what to do with it! ^^;;

I don't want to think about how much yarn I've got.. >.>;

There's a massive bag overflowing that's too big to fit in my cupboard anymore and then an unseemly pile of skeins of either working projects or yarn I'm intending to use 'soon' in one corner of my room.

I had to get a set of plastic drawers for my stash sweatdrop It fits nearly all of my stuff - the top drawer is my sock yarn drawer, which is jam-packed. The bottom drawer is full of mohair. Second from bottom is a full drawer with the yarn for three jumpers in it, and the last one is the most empty drawer which is dedicated to laceweight and my handspun.

By my side, however, I have a whole bunch of other stuff xd My main knitting bag which has my Rowan Lima hoodie-in-progress in it, a paper bag full of purple 4ply and beads, and a Colinette tote with... um, some large balls of Colinette yarn and a WIP throw in it.

I only have 2 skeins of white yarn and 1 skein of red yarn. That's all I had left over after I finished knitting my dress. *Sigh* I guess it's time to start storing some more.

Ooooh. Wow.

I have about... 5-6 skeins now? In about three different colors (my mom is uber-picky about finishing yarn before you get new stuff). But I'm going yarn-shopping next weekend for all my Christmas knits. Excitement~

My mom bought me a shoe-under to store my yarn in, but I seem to have more that fits neatly.

I have also, annoyingly. purchased yarn that I already had.

For Christmas last year, a friend gave me 3 trash bags of yarn when her grandma cleaned out her stash. I've worked on it, but combined with what I already had, I still have 3 trash bags full. It'll be a much smaller stash by fall, as I am knitting myself crazy making drawstring bags and lacey scarves & shawls to sell at Ren Faire. The scraps left over get made into granny squares, so I will eventually have an afghan, probably to sell.

My aunt will periodically give me bags full of odds and ends that she can't use because there is too little. For me they're perfect though because those little bits will make either kerchiefs or dice bags (drawstring bags, but for D&D dice mrgreen ) However, that means that almost a quarter of my stash (And it's grown a bit just over the past year alone) is made up of teeny tiny balls of yarn.
