Lich: 45 Shasta: 51
Just as the attack had been repelled, The Lich extended his arm, shooting the shield out of it and extending it like a pillar. It launched Shasta across the room, dashing him into the corner of the desk and sent him spiraling against the floor and books. The cumbersome desk screeched from impact, but remained unbroken despite its age.
Again, the Lich had the distance advantage.

Lich: 45 Shasta: 40
Shasta got to his feet. His back really ached; it drove right into the corner of that large, oak desk. A few of the items on it rolled off and fell to the floor, disappearing into the mist.
Tainted blood had begun to drip from his shoulder. Shasta covered the wound with his hand, trying to conceal its discolor. The Lich had noticed, however. He eyed the wound with curiosity, and then glanced at the poisonous marks across his defiled body.
“Perhaps we can cut a deal?” Another blade grew from the Lich’s arm, “You give me the poison, and I’ll let you keep your prized knife.”

Lich: 45 Shasta: 40
Obviously, this meant death.
A large urn sat on the desk. So far it’s been fortunate enough to avoid getting destroyed or knocked over. Likely it contained the ashes of the dead, perhaps previous victims? Whatever the case, it was heavy enough to keep stable after Shasta was knocked into the desk.
The Lich began to slowly drift towards Shasta, claws and blade readied. Shasta took one step back, his face showing signs of worry. This stirred confidence within the Lich, and, with confidence, diminished awareness.
Shasta took his opportunity. With a swift kick he launched the urn at the Lich with startling speed. He reverted his ice blade into a shield and swiped at it, dashing it and spreading the fragments across the room. Salt shot out of the urn, covering the air with a white powder. It coated the Lich, eating away at his icy components. He growled with obvious discomfort.

Lich: 37 Shasta: 40
Shasta moved in and drove both blades just up under the Lich’s rib cage. Poison flowed from both into the Lich’s body.
The Lich looked down at Shasta, irate fury blazed in his frozen eyes. Then, something strange happened. His skeletal form began to fade out and blend in with the mist. In moments he was gone, but Shasta could still hear guttural laughter chiding him.

Lich: 37 Shasta: 40
The Lich reappeared at the opposite end of the room. Shasta turned and gave charge, but just as he did books around the room began to levitate. They were hovering within a blue energy, reminiscent of the Lich’s previous abilities.
The books began to fly through the air, darting towards Shasta. He hastily dodged the books as they came for him, but their speed and number increased the more he eluded them. A few grazed him, leaving deep red marks, promising nasty bruises in the near future.
A wall of thick books gathered 8 feet high in front of Shasta. At once they all charged him. He bounded towards them, and kipping off of one he scaled the wall. Twisting and doing a back tuck he flipped over the books, just barely missing the ceiling. Just as he was landing, however, another wall of books came from his side, colliding into him and smashing him into the wall.

Lich: 37 Shasta: 27
“Undeath can prove to be rather dull after several hundred years, however observing the pain and suffering of mortality always seems to discover a way of re-animating it…” The poison in the Lich’s body spread again, revealing its sinuous marks. He winced at the pain, obviously annoyed. “I’ve been feeling all too alive this evening.” What was this poison that caused even his vile, undead body anguish? As time lapsed it threatened to consume even his abominable frame. This greatly intrigued the Lich.

Lich: 35 Shasta: 27
The lich doubled his efforts against Shasta. Books and shards of ice levitated and flew across the room. Shasta’s training as a child by his father was utilized to full capacity within his battered frame.
A duck to just barely avoid a flying book; a twist to elude hurled shards of ice as cold as death- the lich was quite literally destroying the contents of the room to get at Shasta. Masses of stone were etched from walls, ceilings, and floors as projectiles repeatedly battered them.

The lich pressed on, his attack growing in force. The icy mist that was settled on the floor was blown about as bitter winds swirled around the room, obstructing Shasta’s vision and immersing him in polar temperatures. Items still charged at him remorselessly, increasing their accuracy. (damage roll lich)

Cruel laughter filled the air as the lich turned the entire room into a weapon. Winds roaring, ice as sharp as glass grazed Shasta and freezing temperatures stung his body both outside and in.

Lich: 35 Shasta: 10
The large oak desk in the middle of the room had barely moved during the assault. Its weight prevented it from sliding about the room like the many books that were fired at Shasta, who, having spotted the desk, dive rolled and slid underneath it.
Shards of ice shattered on its thick oak surface. Books dashed upon it and fell lifelessly to the ground. Shasta had gained almost complete cover from it, but the desk was spraying splinters from each onslaught. Shasta knew he couldn’t take cover here for long.
Composing himself, Shasta lashed out of the desk, jumping from its top and over the fusillade. With his daggers he dashed ice shards and deflected projectile literature as he made his way towards the lich. Dodging with all the grace and agility his damaged body could afford him, in an environment like this nonetheless, Shasta futilely tried to prepare for an attack.

Shasta rushed across the room. He had freed himself enough from the barrage to prepare a flying kick into the lich. Just as he reached the monster, however, it faded instantly into the thick mist. With a sick grin it eluded Shasta with the same maneuver as before.
Shasta now found himself facing the ice pillars that sealing him within the room.

Lich: 35 Shasta: 10
Shasta turned to determine the Lich’s location. He spied him across the room, but what more caught his attention was the cumbersome oak desk that had, until recently, been sitting in the center of the room.
With the shock of a grave realization time will somehow seem to slow down. Almost as in a nightmare the viewer find himself with a heightened awareness of things around him, though incapable of moving himself. Books, with their pages flapping in the wind, ice shards, shattering into dazzling pieces upon impact, and gentle, dancing snowflakes all fell to the ground with leisure as the Lich focused all of his energy to turn that immense desk (which Shasta had just moments before used for shelter) into an oaken missile.
