Shuki places a leather bookmark in the book, shutting it. Rubbing her eyes, she stretches in her seat, deciding to go and get her water bottle, which she'd left in her room in a rush to get to the centre to begin her studies. Starting to feel hungry, she contemplates grabbing some food whilst she's out. Quickly scribbling a note saying Shuki is using these two books. Please don't touch, she heaps her belongings into a pile, the note on top, and leaves the centre.

Deciding that she has procrastinated long enough, Shuki returns to the centre, seating herself back at her desk, relieved to find that no-one has disturbed her belongings. She scrunches up the note and shoves it into her bag, before unpacking the pile of books and re-opening the materials book. She flicks the notepad open and immediately begins to take notes. 'Time to get serious,' she thinks to herself, and starts her reading.

After about 5 minutes, she comes across a reference to another book, and grunting in irritation, she goes back to the shelves and just hunts for any books by this author. She comes up with a total of 4 more books and places the rather heavy pile on her desk, looking up the reference in one of the books. Reading quickly through the chapter, she returns to the materials book to finish the chapter.

Shuki's lips never stop moving as she finishes one chapter and moves onto the next, gaining momentum as she does. Her hand darts rapidly across her notebook, scribbling down any notes that she can think of taking and she hopes that she'll be able to read them later. As she reaches the last chapter of the materials book, she reaches a slow understanding of why certain items must be used, as well as the possible results of what could happen if something was left out, or not pure. The thought was something terrifying, and not for the first time, she wonders why she's here. The power of the Kalohl had drawn her in, tantalising as it was, and she realises that once she began her studies, there was no turning back. This in mind, she reads the final chapter.

She closes the book with a loud 'thunk' and places it on top of the book she's already read, and opens what seems to be the third one in the series. The introductory chapter outlines that the book is about the risks of summoning and it makes Shuki shudder at the possibilities. As she turns the page, the word BEWARE appears in large, black, curled letters and she lets out a small squeak. The desire to know what lies ahead draws her in and she once again pushes her glasses back on her nose and leans closer, not even glancing at the notes she takes as she reads. The vivid descriptions in the book make her feel a little ill as she reads on, and the reality of the dangers becomes crystal clear.

Murmuring to herself, she quietly reads out, "There are several thousands of fates worse than death, and accidents occuring during a summoning can lead to any and all of these." 'Oh great,' she thinks to herself, 'Just what I needed. As if being who I am isn't enough.' She mutters grumpily and goes back to reading. The book is making her depressed, but she needs to read it, so she trudges along with it, hoping for a small ray of sunshine somewhere. She remembers that if she can pull it off, a Kalohl will be hers to command, and that thought sustains her as she reads of mutilation, torment and torture, and extreme pain at the hands of Athiz.

Under the name Athiz, someone has scribbled another reference to a book entitled The Forgotten. Shuki runs to the shelves and pulls the book down, placing it next to the book she is reading. She opens the book to the page that was referenced, and reads about the rise of Athiz.

She finishes the section and flips back to the beginning of the book, her previous reading forgotten as she pours excitedly over The Forgotten. The book reads like a fantasy novel in Shuki's mind and the more she reads, the more she becomes drawn into the near epic battle between the Forgotten and the seven Halusios. She wonders if it was at all even remotely possible that the Forgotten could break free of their prison to wreak havoc on the world and if the current Halusios would be able to contain them once more. This leads to thoughts of the Halusios and she wishes that Karolina would hurry up with the other recommended books so that she could get some quick notes from them.

Yawning, Shuki pulls a small timepiece from her pocket and takes a quick look at it. Although it's a bit later than she had planned on staying in the centre, she puts the timepiece away and goes back to reading, determined to finish the book before she leaves. She removes the stopper from her bottle and takes a few gulps of the fresh, cool water, sighing as it dampens her parched throat.

"That's better," she mumbles, before shoving the stopper back in the bottle and placing it on the desk.

The words on the page are starting to blur, so Shuki takes her glasses off and leans back in her chair, rubbing at her tired eyes. The urge to finish her reading was great, so she slides her glasses back on and finishes off the last couple of chapters. After she's done with The Forgotten, she stands, stretching, and places the book back on the shelf for the next student to read. She packs up her belongings and scribbles a short note.

Addressing it to Vem, it reads, I've borrowed the following books, and will return all 5 of them tomorrow. She adds a list of the six books by the same author to her letter and places it on Vem's desk, before swinging her bag over her shoulder, picking up the heavy pile of books, and going back to her room.

After reading through 'Halusios', Lyth took a glance at her notes while the contents of the tome were still fresh in her mind. It would be best to make sure her notes were relevant before continuing, so she wouldn't have to come back to this book while someone else needed it.

She grimaced when she looked. These were notes?!?! They looked more like a young child's first scribblings to her. Needless to say, the unchecked writing was almost completely illegible. Her eraser was immediately and vigorously applied to the mess. No sense wasting the paper.

With a sigh she started to run through the reading in her head, jotting down (much neater) notes as she went. She would have to cross-check her notes with the text when she finished.

Shuki wanders listlessly into the centre, dropping her belongings on a desk and heading for the shelves, neatly stacking the books back in their places. In the corner of her eye, she notices that the copy of Halusios has been returned to the shelves, so she quickly grabs it down and goes to sit at her desk and read through the tome. Her lips move as she reads, a sure sign that she's absorbing the knowledge contained in the book.

The book, Halusios, proves to be intriguing and Shuki scribbles down as many questions as general notes. If the summoner was strong enough, was it possible to summon a Halusios? Or are the Kalohl 'leaders' too powerful to attempt summoning? And if one was summoned, would there be any way to retain dominance over him or her? And thinking about the Halusios inevitably leads her to her new obsession, Jonas, the fallen angel. His presence gave a whole new dimension to Dredgubotch, as it now had an opposing force, whatever that may be.

One of Lyth's cat ears twitched at the sound of pages flipping, and she looked up from her diligent note-taking only to see another familiar face. A mischievous grin drifted across her features and soon one of her erasers sailed through the air in Shuki's direction. Quickly she returned to her notes, doing a very bad job of looking completely innocent as she started flipping through the book again to check her notes.

The eraser hits the back of Shuki's head and she turns quickly, spotting Lyth's vague attempt at innocence. She thinks for a moment, then lets her eyes shift to red, her fangs emerge and she stands, facing Lyth fully, grinning evilly. Her face glint in the murky light of the education centre and she advances on her friend, fully intending to scare her.

Oblivious to Shuki's movement, Lyth continued to check her notations, trying hard to get back to work while her mind was still stuck wondering how Shuki would be reacting to the eraser. She stole a glance in her friend's direction when she realized she wouldn't be able to think properly when she was full of curiosity.

She nearly jumped a foot, heart pounding, when she looked up. "Waah! Jeebus, what was that for?!?!"

Well there went her chance at concentrating. The only thing on her mind was "Fdsfjlashjkbvvvvv~!"

Shuki doubles over in laughter, retracting her fangs and blinking her eyes back to their usual vivid green. She squishes Lyth in a big hug, still letting out small bursts of giggles.

"Hey Lyth~! Ya know, you shouldn't throw things at people... it might come back to bite you." More giggles ensue. "Whatchya doooooin'?"
