"No, statues are never supposed to move." she replied, circling the statue. Luminita pulled her diary out of her datchel, opening it to the third page. The page was scattered in hieroglyphics.
"I can read them somewhat, but very little. Perhaps it will be of help?"

The Anubis statue brought its spear down in front of Luminita, barring the way once more. Illuminatus suddenly brightened. "[Lord Anubis of the departed, we have come not to plunder the treasures of kings. Stand down and let the Warders pass]." He said in ancient Egyptian. The statue immediately bowed and stepped aside. "That's the password of sorts. Esrath told me." They were standing in a circular room from which several passageways stemmed. "Luminita, can you read the labels on these passageways? We're looking for Khaefra through Thutmosis." He lit the tip of his wand and illuminated the room with blue-white light.

Luminita translated the passageways to the best of her ability. The hieroglyphics were so complex, she had some doubt she would be even able to do it.
"There!" she exclaimed, pointing to the southern most passage. "Thats the one. The others lead to the Temple of Carnac, this one is the only one that doesn't!"

"Onward!" Cried Illuminatus, then stopped. He looked around at Luminita, horrified. "Where is Esrath?" Their serpent friend was nowhere to be found.

Luminita grabbed her wand once more. "Perhaps this will help? Accio Esrath!" she shouted, a beam of light shot out of her wand. Nothing happened, their dim surroundings showing now sign of their friend.

"I fear we are in greater danger than I imagined." He looked at Luminita sadly and said, "I'm sorry I brought you into this. You could be killed, enslaved, tortured. What was I thinking?" He gripped his wand more tightly and looked around the dusty passageway. "Whether we should continue is up to you. I could get us back with the transport spell Esrath used. I... I don't want to see you get hurt." He had a strange look in his eyes. Was it longing? Anguish? Or... hatred? For a light burned in the ice blue eyes that now were fixed on a set of hieroglyphs on the wall. "Amon Sárad" he whispered. His hand tightened on his wand, and a burst of static electricity crackled briefly to the floor.

Luminita grabbed his hand. "Lets continue, we're all going to die sooner or later, does it matter if its now?" she said to him. "I may be a Ravenclaw but I'm no chicken, we've got two things the idiots don't have. We're Ravenclaw and Slytherin, two houses fit perfectly to side with one another. Brains and slyness. Its perfect! If you insist, then we'll leave though."

"You're the bravest person I've met," said Illuminatus, pulling her close. "Just promise me you'll be careful. Now onward, for the glory of Ravenclaw and Slytherin, the greatest of the four." They continued down the passageway, and as Illuminatus passed the hieroglyphic name on the rock he saw a new figure. Etched under the name of Amon Sárad the Executioner was a crude snake , split in half and dripping blood. Illuminatus shuddered. A king that once wanted to plunder the tombs tried to have all Salagazh guardians exterminated. The cruelest of kings, many evil enchantments would guard his tomb. And it was likely where Esrath was held.

Luminita's stomach churned. It was horrifying, thinking of the cruelty of this said pharoah. Poor Esrath, she could only hope he would be alright. She gasped at the sight of the blood, covering her eyes and plugging her noise from its foul being.

Illuminatus lit his wand and they proceeded further into the dusty tomb. Suddenly, a flash lit the air and Illuminatus was thrown backward several feet to land heavily on his back. He spat out some blood; he had bitten his tongue. Whispering, "Oculous verum," he looked at the place where he had been forcibly stopped. A wall of red runes was there, pulsating unpleasantly. "This isn't good. There's some sort of evil imperturbable charm on this archway."

Luminita reached into her bag and pulled the diary. "The one good this thing does," she said and tossed the diary forward. Slowly she walked through the archway. "It has an evil charm on it therefore canceling out the previous jinx. In other words, as the muggles say I think 'a negative plus a negative equals a positive.'"

"I wouldn't know- I suck at math." He examined the archway. "Impressive work. That diary certainly seems to have done the trick- Ugh!" With a thick splash, Illuminatus realized the corridor had suddenly become ankle deep in blood. "The Curse of the Blood Tide. It calls up the blood from ancient slaughters to drown the good." He grimaced as the blood began soaking his shoes. "I think we'd better hurry." They splashed off down the corridor, and the blood stream grew stronger.

Blood spattered all over Luminita, her black robes and uniform stained with the red whine-like mark. "Damn!" she hissed, casting a cleaning spell on her robes and Illuminatus'. She kept on running.

The tide was now at a height in which swimming was faster than running. Illuminatus spat out a mouthful of the disgusting liquid and commanded Luminita, "Get on my back and grab my shoulders. Because of the magic I'm an excellent swimmer." He grabbed onto a statue for support, the rushing river of blood up to his chest.
