Ako smiled at Saro, "Don't worry, everything'll be fine. Just wait and see."

She said nothing, though her mind made up for her silence. How can everything be fine??? He knows what I've done. My mother was his lover, she, his daughter, sister, and mother are dead, by my hand. It was my fault Takari left the ship in the first place; she hated what I was doing. I've killed everyone close to him except Ako, how can everything be fine?!?!?!?! her mind screamed, to Zyriaut's slight wince.

Sirako saw the discomfort on Saro's face and hugged her. "Trust me on this..." She said quietly into her ear.

She stiffened, not noticeable to any except Ako. She slowly relaxed, still not speaking. Trust? How can I trust you; all my life I've been betrayed as soon as trust was given. I should never have gone to the town, none of this would ever have happened...

Ako cocked her head to one side, "What's wrong?" She mouthed.

She shook her head slightly, to say nothing, though she knew it was a lie...

Ako sighed and nodded blankly, hearing a crash behind her.

Father Michael finally broke, his mental capacity at its limit. "Just answer!" He yelled, his whole body trembling with anger and depression at realizing she had killed his family.

"Do you think I wanted to? I never had a choice. I never knew I didn't have to, not that I would have had a choice. You do as you're told or die when dealing with Him. I'm bound to him, I had no choice but to do as he told me when it concerned Takari. Do you think I wanted to kill my mother, the only person who actually gave a damn?" Her voice was quiet, though clearly heard by all of them. Strangely, there was no emotion whatsoever in it though.

Tired of all the continuous talk of Saro's past and everyone seeming to be irritated, she left the room. Ako skipped down the stairs and found herself sitting outside on the trough just outside the inn. She put her head between her knees, her hands crossed over the back of her head.

Zyriaut slipped out, grabbing Syanthe and bring her with her, Raen following obediently. In other words, Saro was left alone with the priest.

Saro said nothing, awaiting whatever reprimend he was going to deliver.

Father Michael scoffed, smirked and then shook his head before opening the door. He paused turned his head as if looking over his shoulder, and then left, slamming the door behind him.

Saro fell to the ground, slidding down the wall and putting her head in her hands after pulling her knees up to her chest.

Karik stepped from the wall beside her, looking down at her and wondering what had happened to upset her this much. "God, you actually care about what he thinks. Since when do you give a damn about what a man thinks about you?" he asked quietly, but slightly mockingly.

She glared at him, lifting her head from her arms to glower and rattle off something in elven, speaking too quickly for anyone but someone who had grown up speaking, or hearing it, to understand.

He smiled sadly. "If you say so..." he said softly before leaving in the same way he had entered, locking the door first.

Any resolve she had left crumbled, leaving her sobbing into the pillow that had fallen from the bed when she was pulled off it.

Father Michael sat by the lake and watched as the light lifted into the different depths of the water's waves. The breeze tousled his hair and he sighed, exasperated. He tugged at the white cardboard in his collar and threw it into the water. Feeling a bit more free of his duty he leaned back into the grass and watched the sky. His memory strolled back to his wife and how he had found her. Her body was bloodied and strewn across the floor of their new home. He had run to her only to see her blue eyes staring blankly into the night. A choked cry was cut off from upstairs and he ran up the stairs. Father Michael sat up quickly from the memory and pushed back his hair, not wanting to remember the gruesome details of that night.

Hearing Father Michael stomp out of the inn, Ako walked back in, worried that he had done something to Saro. She rushed up the steps only to see Saro in her room sobbing. Ako rushed to her side and wrapped her arm around Saro's shoulders. Ako shushed her like a mother and rocked her back and forth. "Shush shush, it'll get better... Just wait and see..." Ako crooned softly into Saro's ear.

She calmed down after a few minutes, not bothering to move from Ako's embrace. "What's the point of anything? To live and enjoy life? There's nothing enjoyable about it....." she murmured.

Ako smiled and whispered gently, "Maybe if you stop looking at the big picture and focus more on the small successes in life you'll see that there are plenty of things to be proud of. Like you're my friend, are you not? That's one thing that I hope you're proud of." Ako said, hoping she was cheering Saro up rather than making her feel worse.
