Kei seated himself on the other side of Westly and also gathered up his chopsticks prior to digging in. "Indeed, what it is it that you have on your mind?"

Westly cleared his throat. "Well, not knowing all the details, I think it's safe to assume that, since you're both alive and well, whatever explanation you gave Kashin for your behavior satisfied him. I only wanted to bring the two of you in for questioning anyway, so if you've answered the Kage's questions, then there's no problem."
He leaned forward. "Except... well, I dunno what Kashin's willing to allow you two to get away with so you can keep working for who you're working with. So let me ask the question: have you killed anyone from Gaioh? And, if not, are you willing to if who you're working for orders it?"
He licked his lips and took a few forkfuls of ramen while he let their minds parse the question.

Anko walked into the pub and sat down. She had never been here before and found it by roaming the village streets. Her stomach rumbled lightly as she groans. "I should have packed more of mom's rice balls." She said. "But since I didn't I'll eat here."

AlthorEnchantor Westly cleared his throat. "Well, not knowing all the details, I think it's safe to assume that, since you're both alive and well, whatever explanation you gave Kashin for your behavior satisfied him. And, if not, are you willing to if who you're working for orders it?"He licked his lips and took a few forkfuls of ramen while he let their minds parse the question. Manndar seemed unfazed by the question as he slurped down the ramen with his fork. "I've never killed anyone from Gaioh, yet." Manndar said after he released a satisfied sigh and set down the empty bowl. "I wanted to, but that Kold character up and vanished one day, but he was a villain........ As for killing Gaiohians as an order from someone else?......" Manndar thought seriously for a moment. "....... My philosophy is go for the ko...... That is unless they are actively trying to kill me." "Which is a distinct possibility that they would try." Manndar thought as he remembered the Ichijin uprising and Kold Shiro electrocuting him along with a good deal of the spectators during a tournament all those years back when he was still a gennin."..... It takes a lot to kill Manndar, so therefore it would take a lot for Manndar kill comrades." Manndar said with an honest smile.

Westly smiled sadly, and a certain wistfulness crept into his tone. "While that's good to know, Manndar, I wasn't really questioning you." He tapped his head. "Empath, remember? By most measures, you're a good person. Hardly a saint, but a good person at heart. A rarity in this business, and rarer still because of how far you've gotten despite it. You have my trust as much as any man does."
Westly's eyes shifted towards Kei, and his smile twisted to something a little more bitter. "So. From one heartless b*****d to another, bachelor number two, same question."

The youthful raven haired shinobi set his chopsticks down against the edge of the bowl of ramen with a bitter sigh. "As of yet I haven't been in a situation that demanded lethal force against one of the village's citizenry." Kei replied with a flat voice as he stared fixedly at the wall behind the counter as his face became stoic.
"Understand, the mission comes first; no matter what personal feelings I have on the matter. The safety of the village comes before our own personal safety, and we have all sworn oaths to give our lives if need be to that service. If a part of my mission was dependent upon the death of a fellow shinobi of this village, then I would not hesitate to extinguish their life." Kei spoke with the gravest severity he had used to date but he felt it necessary to impress upon Westly that a serious question demanded a serious response.
"As I see it, the moment a person swears their life to the protection of the village; their life is forfeit should the mission parameters, and by extension the village's continued security and prosperity, demand it. The well being of the many will always dwarf the lives of the few." Kei finished as he steepled his fingers and looked at Westly with his iron gray eyes, the eyes of a cold blooded killer. "I do hope that satisfies your question."

Westly's head tilted to one side. "...you're lying," he said softly. Not accusatory, just confused. Merely an observation that he didn't have an explanation for. "No... I can see it. The connection. You and Chaos..." He squinted. His eyes seemed to be glowing faintly. "...and Masa?" he added, surprised even at his own voice.
He blinked, confused, and shook his head. He held a hand to his temple. "I'm... sorry... what was I saying?" He paused, trying to get his bearings. He still sounded a bit disoriented. "Right. Your... you... at the village. The Jungle Village. And after. That was personal. No one ordered you to... you know... go to the Swamp Village. It wasn't part of the mission. You did it because you wanted to, and because you thought your own judgment trumped that of your commanding officer." Westly paused again. "Yes, I realize the irony of me, of all people, calling you out on that last bit. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just pointing out the contradiction: you say that only the mission matters, and it's not personal, but you see, it is personal. It really is."

Manndar is sitting quietly paying attention to what was going to happen, feeling like something odd just happened.
"Westly is acting weird...... Even by my previous standards of the guy." Manndar thought as he watched with interest. "...... I quite don't get what is going on, but Genjutsu users are odd creatures."

"Incorrect, part of the mission was the neutralization of the White Hand; Chaos' men were offering intel. I made the judgment call to pursue Chaos by embedding myself within his forces and in doing so I was given direct reconaissance pertinent to one of the mission's objectives. I prioritized the White Hand is being the greater threat, that organization has plagued Gaioh for a great amount of time and despite all efforts we have been unable to disband it. Chaos on the other hand has been beaten and bloodied on a variety of occasions, including an operation that forced him underground for a substantial amount of time." Kei explained with a faint smirk on his face as he resumed eating his ramen.
"The world of intelligence gathering exceeds the boundaries of good and evil; most of the time it lies in the gray. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. You understand this Westly? Chaos is opposed to the White Hand, thus I take the assistance that he offers me; in this case a weapon and a great deal of information. This I use to neutralize the White Hand, once and for all, thus completing one of the mission's objectives." Kei paused to wave the barman over and indicated his glass of tea needed to be refilled.
"With one of the sides defeated, Gaioh doesn't have to worry about fighting on two fronts and dividing its scarce combat resources. Chaos' legion would fall quickly beneath our village's collective power." Kei sipped his tea and grinned to himself as he looked at the Fae. "The world is never as simple as it seems, and once you think you've got it figured out; your wrong. Remember that Westly." The raven-haired ANBU sipped nonchalantly from his fresh cup of steaming tea.

Westly's smile was a subtle one. He'd spent enough time in and out of monasteries to know just how hard it could be to understand the world, but he suspected Kei was talking about something a bit more pragmatic than Enlightenment. Namely, tactics and subterfuge. Another thing Westly knew plenty about, though he was out of practice as of late. He was getting better, though.
"Would you like to share said reconnaissance with me?" He looked to Manndar and back to Kei. "A team is three. You're down a man."

Kei nodded to Manndar's statement and thought about Westly's request, divulging the information to anyone who didn't need to know could endanger the entire mission. The fact of the matter was that despite the intelligence and sharp wit that Westly had at his disposal he was a weak fighter, evinced by his capture and maiming during the attack in the Jungle.
"Sorry Westly, no can do, you're just too much of a hazard for me to divulge this information to you." Kei shrugged as he finished off his ramen and tea before standing up and heading towards the door. "Thanks for dinner, now I have some business to attend to." Kei waved at the two without turning around. A staggering drunk had risen to his feet and seeing the ANBU turned around a ran headfirst into a support beam was more knocking himself out.
