Ilandere lurched at him but her bindings held her too tightly and the chair only made a small hop. "How dare you mock my grief!" she spat, "My father was a better man then you could ever hope to be you slime!"

"My, my. We do have a temper." Vernir mused snidely, "You also must keep in mind it was your father that landed you here."

Ilandere took a sudden breath and wore a pained expression as if she'd just been dealt a slap in the face. It quickly faded into anger at the sight of Vernir's amused smile.

"Still a tender wound, I see. Sorry to have leveled your prescious father with the likes of us."

Themba solemnly took a cloak and put it on along with a pair of goggles. He wore a darkened expression as terrible thoughts ran rampant in his head. Was Ilandere all right? What did they need her for? And wasn't it just a little convenient that the person they needed was the traveller of Zadaa? No matter what, the situation was looking rather grim for all of them.

"We must be careful." He told everyone, the pained tone in his voice wasn't hidden well at all. "We do not want to be seen."

"Is everyone ready? Alright, follow me then." Carefully, quietly, Kirith led them through the sleeping city of Zaada. A few times they almost ran into Batu guards, but Kirith hid them in the shadows before they were spotted.

"Almost there. Just stay with me, and whatever happens, follow my lead," he whispered to the group. No sooner had he said this than a Batu guard walked across the street infront of the group. The guard looked straight at them, and hollered out into the street.

"Just stay! Stay behind me," Kirith warned to the group. He took his crossbow and laid it on the ground infront of him, an motioned for the others to do the same.

In no time, other guards had joined the first Batu. They headed down the street and surrounded the group.

"What buisness do you have on teh surface?" the first demanded. Kirith reached into his shirt and grabbed a necklace. Taking it off, he held it out for the guard to examine.

"I have important buisness with the king that must be seen to at the first possible moment." Kirith said, quietly and calmly.

"Of course," the guard said, handing back the necklace. "But I cannot allow your friends in at the moment."

"But sir, my companions have important information for the king as well"

"I'm sorry. You know the current state of Zaada. It cannot happen."

"But...!"

"Excuse me, sir I understand your policies do not allow us to come, but, believe me, life as we... and you... know it is at stake. We must get in to see the king." Lily had never tried using the Traveler's persuasion as she had seen others use it, and was somewhat suprised to see it work.

"I... of course. Men! Gather their weapons. You, and you, help me escort them to the palace."

((I'll add more later. Please, people in my party, don't do nothing rash. I have a plan, but I have to go for the moment...))

"Nice one," he said, patting Lily on the shoulder.

Themba was very wary of their current situation. He didn't like it at all. As a Tiggen guard he didn't like giving up his weapons but he did as he was told. Both races were very cautious of the other so he couldn't help but be suspicious of the Batu at the moment. He only wished to get this over with as soon as possible.

Via hobbled along resting on Eadoin's shoulder,"Nice Lily!" she called out from behind. Then looked up at Eadoin.

"I'm not hurting you am I?" Via questioned.

She felt kind of embarrassed that Eadoin was the first to volunteer to help her and now she was holding on to him one arm around his smooth neck. She contained herself from not pouncing on him for that would be terribly wrong and well, hurt a lot also. Via grinned and let out a small giggle at the thought.

Eadoin smiled down a Via a little and shook his head. "Oh, no, you're fine. It doesn't bother me any."

Eadoin was truley only glad to help. Via was another traveler and, well, they really did have to look out for eachother. He only wondered about the girl's emotional standpoint, she was pretty upset back at Ilandere's. He hoped she could only get better on those terms.

"Good, because," Via blushed and looked at her wrapped ankle as she said this,"I would never want to hurt you."

She looked up to meet Eadoin's soft eyes and just smiled. She let out a small cough once again licking the blood away, she knew she wasn't going to have a fit because sh only had those maybe once a month at the most.

Eadoin only returned the smile but thought to himself warily, she probably means that in, a, um -- non-emotional, kind of friendly way? Right? Unless she, ah -- oh, she might . . . why am I so stupid? I'm terrible when it comes to figuring people out . . . especially girls.

Via saw past his smooth eyes and looked down immediately and frowned a little turning her head so that it looked like she was looking at something on the other side of the dirt road.

"Oh, I......I'm sorry," she said barely above a whisper. She shook her head in embarrassment, she knew it could never work out, they were travelers after all.

"Oh, heh, no -- I mean, about what? There's nothing to, heh, I mean . . . umm." He stammered, feeling increadibly stupid now for letting his thoughts play across his expression. People could read him like an open book because he was that was and it drove him mad.

"No, no, it's all right, there's n-nothing to really-um, eh . . . I'll just stop . . . now."

Via tried to smile but her mouth just stayed a hard line. Taking her arm off of Eadoin's shoulder she decided to walk on her crutches that she had been carrying along with her when they left the house. She quickly transferred and winced a little as her foot hit the ground. She knew this was cold but she had to restrain somehow. She finally got the courage to say something.

"I suppose it was meant to be but who we are won't let us go any farther than what we already have," letting a weak smile pass across her lips. "I wish there was no "This is the way it was meant to be crap, no rules we had to follow. But I guess everyone would be entitled to be like St. Dane and that would only make his plans much more easier. I....." she choked out the words,"I really like you, Eadoin." The name felt like silk on her lips, which were a hard wincing line now. She had said it, and it felt good although she was afraid for his reaction.

Eadoin frowned a bit. He was afraid that was what she had meant. This was a really tricky situation. He didn't know what to say, but he was also afraid he'd trip over his words or say the wrong thing.

"Via, I . . ." He said softly, wringing his hands. "This may sound harsh but . . . it's not that I don't like you as well it's just that . . . friends is what we must stay. But that doesn't mean we have to be cold towards each other. I . . . I'll be here for you as a friend, but nothing more. I'm sorry."

Via nodded in response but said nothing,"I know, this is the freaking way it was meant to be, just friends." feeling her eyes mist up she decided to try and go faster to get ahead of Eadoin so that he would not have to look at her face. When she felt she was kinda far away from him she let the tears fall letting out small sobs and watching the sorrowful drops hit the ground with a small splash. "I will never stop feeling the way I do about him," she whispered to herself.

Eadoin bit his lip and looked down at his shadow made by the moonlight. It might not have been the right thing to do, but it was best. Besides, they barely even knew eachother, really. It would be best for them to be friends anyways. Yeah, just keep telling yourself that. He thought sarcastically. Or maybe he really did only want to be firends? He didn't know, it was all so confusing. But no matter what he would be there for her as a friend; she trusted him with the secret about her illness and he wouldn't make her regrett it for an instant.

A wide, malicious grin spread across Berombe's face at Ilandere's reaction. They all had a weak spot, they were all so easy to mentally defeat....

"Your father went against us," Berombe replied, mocking pity for the girl. "He refused to carry out his job, the job that the Order gave to him. I don't believe, really, that anyone who can't carry out a simple task for the good of the Order could be on a higher stand than I, could he?"

He smirked a bit to himself, giving her plenty of time to react before saying offhandedly, "Do you know why you're here?"

[[ That's right, isn't it? Cause he had to... to like, kill that one woman.... right? Or, something? I think; mebbe? >__< Tell me if I need to change something.... ]]

Tachia grudgingly followed the group, still not quite sure of what she was supposed to be doing. However, everyone else was going and she didn't feel like being abandonded, for fear of breaking down again about loosing her home....

As Via began slowly hinting to Eadoin, Tachia instantly felt a dark crimson color appear on the bridge of her nose and under her eyes. She'd hardly ever blushed before, and so didn't know what it did to her face, but could definitely feel it. She wasn't quite sure how fond she was of their conversation; after all, Eadoin had been the one who Tachia had opened up to, the only one she ever really talked to. He'd helped her leave Third Earth before everyone else, and she felt there was a connection between them. Not anything like what Via was getting at, but still, a...friendship of some sort. The feeling was as foreign as her blush. Eadoin probably had no idea she felt like they were friends; they'd only talked one day, and Tachia was quiet the rest of the time.... He had no idea how much it had put her through to have to tell him what had happened to her homeland, to have cried in front of him. Spite and envy enveloped Tachia just then and she truly wished she had her bow and arrow. Eadoin's attention had been on Via the entire time....
