Of course I have my dreams, hopes and aspirations that go beyond the possibilities that my real life provides. Of course, escapism is a wonderful thing as one tries to flee, psychologicaly at least, from the harsh reality of your physical life. But alas, I never quite saw the appeal of fleeing from one rotten cesspool into another rotten cesspool where the entry fee also gives you a free coupon for a life time supply of bubonic plague. Look beyond the ideals and visions put forward in the speech you just gave and scrape away the surface of the package, and what do you have left? A shitty graphics engine, degenerate gameplay based around eternal grinding and - my personal favorite - a whole army of mental wastelands, since WoW somehow has a higher rate of utter idiots than pretty much any place of social gathering on the entire Internet (or IRL for that matter). Sure, you could argue that with effort you can wade through the numberless legions of retards to find the intelligent and interesting people that obviously populate the scene as well. Which makes it just like roleplaying on IRC, but with a crappy graphics engine, game mechanics from hell and an annual fee to boot. And if it's dreams you want to achieve, consider the numberless amount of hours that your average self-proclaimed WoW addict will spend on the game on his/her favorite server. Were he or she to actually doing something to hone his/her skills as a person or - dare I suggest it on a place such as Gaia? - gain some actual physical friends then maybe they'd be a tad better off than they might be when they assume the role Defagthor the lvl -24 Dark Elf Magette from Failitania Primus.
I suppose that what I want to have said with this overly boring tl;dr rant is that I regard WoW is a black hole made purely out of fail, and that I'll never ever understand how any one could possibly find themselves addicted to it. Besides! If it's escapism you want you're probably just as well better off playing Fallout 2 instead.

Most of that is true but of course some people refuse to believe it.

eh... thats what most mmorpgs are... i played WoW for 2 months during the summer before college started... It can be fun... but the game itself is too demanding... You can called it the demanding bf/gf that takes most of your time except he/she isn't very pretty (graphics) blaugh You have to sacrafice your time into the game or you will be left behind by others (its a must... or the game becomes extremely boring)... You could say 50 cents a day isn't much (how much it costs to play) but if i decided to save those 50 cents daily i can still buy something of value... i personally prefer spending time going out than being on my computer, so i dumped WoW.
Sorry dear... you're not the prettiest, you take the little money i have (not really), and you're just too demanding, i'm going to have to let you go...

I played MapleStory, RO, and Trickster(Cabala) before, but was too lazy to level up my characters and totally annoyed by noobs and beggars... so now I'm on single player game and 4 virtual pet sites. DragonFable, Neopets, Subeta and such... cool DF is the only site I spent real money on.
Moreover, I prefer video games. domokun

Im not very much into games that I can die in...I liked pokemon since I wasnt able to die 3nodding but now I think its boring and Im not really that much into games to tell the truth. But it is weird when I was like 10 or something I used to play this online game at my dads were I would walk around with a gun and kill people o-o...XD its kind of weird when I think about it. And I was pretty good at it 2. They even had this thing were you could talk to other people and I once said that I was 10 and I was a girl people told me that I was lying xD...but it was all true O-O *stares*
and Im also never going to try wow since I know what it can do to people -nods-

I still like playing my shooters. I've always been a big fan of 'em. MMO's I've never really given a chance. Just WoW and Runescape.
That's a good idea too Hanna. All the horrible things you hear about the game are true. I know people who are playing WoW currently and if you ask 'em what it's like they'll tell you not to play it xd
