Joe Hisaishi - Cell [Parasite EVE Soundtrack]
Background info: Parasite Eve was originally a book. Both a videogame and a movie were inspired by it; however, the videogame and movie are completely unrelated to each other. Yoko Shimomura [Kingdom Hearts] did the music to the game, and Joe Hisaishi [Spirited Away] did the music for the movie.
Does anyone else freak out when listening to music that scares you? Sliding strings and eerie voices give me the chills. And late 19th/early 20th century music [Ravel, Stravinsky, etc.] scares the s**t of me - maybe it's because I always associate the "Rite of Spring" with dinosaurs... thanks a lot, Disney.

Stance Punks - Kurayami ni Hi wo Tsukero
I don't freak out, but there are certainly music styles and sound effects that make me more tense. Sliding strings do that for me too, but they're usually associated with horror and tense situations. Rapidly plucked strings do that for me too, because they use that for every spider documentary ever.
Especially soft/quiet sounds do that for me too. Because you strain to hear it, and EVERY time you know there is going to be something jumping out at you. Whispers, and unusual silence also apply as well.

Joe Hisaishi - The Retreat [Princess Mononoke]
I guess that's true, sliding strings are usually associated with intense situations, aren't they? Man, low sliding strings are especially terrifying - I get chills when I'm actively listening to the music [not just having it in the background], and this strange panic sort of seizes at my chest. Like right now. [But it's so fun and thrilling for me.]

Yasunori Mitsuda - Shakotsu Mansion
Yeah, it makes you wonder if the music has that effect on you because thats how it's normally presented, or if it's used because thats the effect the music has on you.
Probably because of how it's presented, but some sounds are just creepy.

Elton John - Mama Can't Buy You Love
I watched my baby videos recently - coincidentally, the first time I stood on my feet by myself, the music video for Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" was on the TV behind me. xD [GO CHILDREN OF THE 80'S]

Christmas at Ground Zero - Weird Al
When I was little, I used to run to the tv everytime Tears for Fears's music video "The Living Years" came on. Mother has it on tape. Multiple times. It's really sad. Little kids are so dorky. xp
