Jack sits still, staring striaght ahead with an emotionless expression. "I am what I am and I do what I do. This can not be changed." He says in a calm and quiet voice. He turns towards her. "If it bothers you so much, then you'll just have to kill me." He takes out a knife and stabs it into the ground. "Go ahead. I wont blame you."

Xander puts on his normal act and walks back into the class and sees Shan-Shan crying next to Jack. He runs to her side and tries to comfort her. "Hey Shan-Shan, whats wrong? Did Jack say something hurtful to you? You know Jack, you really are a jerk sometimes."

"Nooo!! Get away from me!" she yells as she moves away from Alex. "You... your no better than he is. You always have to follow what he says. Now you too have thrown your life away." She stops talking ad turns away from him. "I cant help you anymore, nobody can. You've chosen your path."

Xander looks down with a look of shame. He stands up walks to the door. "Hey Jack, lets go. I dont think we should be here at this moment. If we stay, more problems will arise." He said in a sad voice, waving his brother over. Before he leaves, he turns around towards Shan-Shan. "Im truely sorry for what pain we have caused you today. But please, come see me so I can explain things. You are not obligated i any way to accept this request, but really hope you do." After he pleads to Shan-Shan, he walks out and goes back to his dorm.

After Jack and Xander leave, a hazily invisibile something swings in at the top of the door, and then Myles steps out of invisibility and leaps down. "Don't trust them, Shan-shan. Xander's the one masterminding the whole thing, and bullying Jack to go along. I'm not sure how much Jack really wants to do it all, but he made his choice. Whoever you knew before, they've changed. Xander is remorseless about his desire to commit genocide. Whatever you do, don't go alone with them anywhere outside the school building. Inside these walls I have ways of protecting you."

"Thanks Myles. I know that now they cant be trusted or helped." She says as she wipes away the tears. "The only thing that can be done is to stop them at all costs. I will help you Myles, just tell me what to do."

"I'd tell you, if only I knew. I only know two things. One, that Xander has collected a reserve of dark magic that is fatally poisonous to anyone with human blood. And two, he's been researching some really obscure and complex variants and effects of teleportation spells. I put a lockdown over the whole school grounds to cancel out any attempted teleport spells, but until I know what he's trying to do with what he finds, it's a band-aid at best."

"Im not so sure about the poison part. I cant really say that I know them now, but when I thought I did, I knew that they were the type who liked to be up in the action instead of watch it from a far. I think it would be reasonable to say that arent going to use poison, but instead get up close and personal with the normal humans. Its either that or the poison is a back up plan that they will use incase they cant reach a certain area or are stopped completely." She sits down and thinks for a bit. "If they were going to use teleportation, they could easily get around the world to all the big population cities. So blocking thier teleporting paths was probably better than you thought. But if they are really studying those types of spells, they might either find or create a spell that will work despite the barrier, like my guantlets. Now that I think about it, they might have known about the power of my guantlets for a long time and that is why they tried to use me. Maybe that is the only reason that we became friends. I feel like such a fool for letting them lie to me for so long. One thing is for certain though. We absolutly cant let either of them leave the school grounds."

He takes out a pocketwatch and looks at it. "Well, it's just about noon, and that'll trigger another thing I took the liberty of setting up. In fact it should happen in four, three, two..."
A humming vibration resonates through the school building, including the doorway and platform connected to it. And then it fades away.
"There we go. Nothing is leaving or entering the grounds for twenty-four hours. The field I set up uses the tidal forces of the sun to power a reciprocal barrier. Anything that tries to pass through it will find its own effort turned against it. So in essence, the force you use to push on it simply pushes back on you. It's a neat trick, but it'll only last until noon tomorrow."

"Hmm... Its a short amount of time, but we'll have to make do. We're going to have to put an end to this in one day. Its either that or we use this time to think of other ways to keep them here. But I think either way, we are going to end up fighting them soon."

"Great! We'll need all the help thats possible. Jack and Alex are both strong, but I've only seen Jack fight seriously. I dont know if Alex is fighting at his true potential or if he's just hiding his true strength. Either way, both of them combined means trouble for us."

"The problem isn't fighting them. In fact, it's the opposite."
He takes a perfectly spherical, smoothly polished stone out of his pocket.
"This is a Reckoning Stone. And what it does is it cashes in Fate. All the things Xander and Jack have done in the past, all the good luck and bad luck and karma they've earned, this little stone can bring it upon them. All the pain they've caused will pain them, all the lives they've taken will injure them, all the power and magic they've abused will weaken them. But in return for bringing this upon someone, the stone will also do the same thing to its user. Everything that both of me have done in our pasts will be returned upon me. And maybe it's why my other half found its way to me, but both of us are responsible for deaths through inaction. So in additon to that, there's the fact that using the Reckoning Stone as a weapon is in itself a powerfully negative act that will be revisited upon the user, so the only way to use it without starting out with a strike on your tally is to make sure everyone enters into the activation willingly and freely. And then to top it all off, both of me count as one being now in the eyes of the stone, which means that I can only counterbalance Xander. The only way to include Jack in the equation is if we involve another person, and I can't ask any of you to put yourselves on the line like that."
