And in that world my friend, I'm afraid we hold all the cards.

And it's bullshit. What's the point of roleplaying if you're going to lead us around by our damn noses?! Seriously, I didn't want to say anything, but it's getting really annoying. Sure, roleplays do need some guidance, but the roleplayers should be able to make their own decisions in a way that's enjoyable to them. "Oh, look, that character has his own opinions that I don't agree with IRL, I'd better threaten his character." What is that?! I'm sure there's more to it than that, but this constant superiority thing is really driving me insane.

And while I'm at it, another thing that really bothers me is the whole "Oh look, this is who's important" concept. Seriously, you try to make yourselves main characters, the only main characters, and constantly comment on how the rest of our characters are inferior, and I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that you're all friends IRL. But it's crap. Noone wants to made to be a secondary character. Rarely will you find someone that says "I don't like to be a real part of the roleplay, please, let me stand off to the side and watch while the big kids play." Realistically, it'd probably be that way, but that doesn't make it right.

Now, I've said some things here today that weren't very pretty at all, but they needed to be said. Ya, you can kick me out of the guild at this point, but what good would that do? All things must improve constantly over time, and feedback, whether useful or not, is the source of improvement. Personally, I really like this roleplay and the concepts behind it, and I think that you're all great roleplayers, but if I'm going to be forced to sit in back and watch the whole damn time, then there's no point in me remaining here, I could just read a book, and I'll leave.

Reguardless, atleast my character doesn't have to care about the anarchal-capitalistic world even if she's difficult to keep playing.

She's crazy. : D

I'll go back to trying to post... ninja

Okay, I have to speak out in defense of the other side of the sociological spectrum, communism. You may not know this, but I spent some time in tibet (bloody cold) and stayed quite near a buddhist temple. Because I was a tourist, and an American, and genuinaly interested, they let me be hang out and tour their temple. They have a rather simple way of life, and hard, but they enjoy it. The point is, everyone works for the common good . There is no jockying for position. There is no "only you" attitude. They work without care for themselves, but with care for others. Granted, this only works when people stay in tightly knit groups, but it works. Capitalism isn't the only way, it's juts the easiest way.

Then try to make yourself a part of the RP.

Don't b***h about it.

Do it.

And if you oppose us, expect to be plowed under. We don't care what any of you do. We care about us. We are superior. Threatening your character? By accurately predicting how long he would last with his current attitude in society? Oh yes, that's a threat. Your argument is beautifully phrased, really. Except for the fact that this is completely free-range. If you see us as main characters, it's because we're doing something. You know, that foreign concept that's the opposite of sitting around and bitching about people who are making an effort? Yeah. We're doing that. You won't be kicked out of the Guild. That would be ridiculous. You stated your opinion. That's all. I tore it to shreds, ground it into the dirt and pissed on it, yes.

But that's called consequence. And that comes from choice. Choice- consequence. Logical cycle, really.

>---<

Communism is absolutely disgusting. I refuse to give my earned wealth, the crops I grew, the things I need to other people. That's ridiculous. Communism is a cycle of sacrifice. Cannibalism, leeches feeding off the people who can do things. What about the man too lazy to work? One who does nothing in communism is equal to the farmer who carries the whole of the ******** community on his back.

I'm sorry, but that is evil in it's purest form. The abasement of human nature, making those with skill and intelligence, those who produce, equal to those who do nothing? Those who would pull them down and devour them at any opportunity, for no other reason than because they can? Because they can produce, it is their obligation to support their fellow man, is that it?

Bullshit. You hold no claim over me or my life. No man can ever claim the life of another. We have the right to exist. There are no rights in communism. There is the "whole", the "common good". It's disgusting.

I understand your complaints, Nekoyasha, and will take them into consideration. I appreciate you voicing your opinion, and I thank you for expressing it in a way that wasn't abrasive, or would put bad blood between us.

I hope you don't misunderstand what was said to you, though; you can do whatever you want, and we won't stop you. You can be just as pushy as We$, without discipline. A lack of discipline, however, is not a lack of reprocussions. If you want a central role in the RP, then throw yourself out there.

Well, you know, it's hard for my character to defy yours when you're the all-powerful being of infinite wisdom. Really, how am I supposed to compete with a character that can use every type of magic, backed by the guy who is making the rules? "Make a more powerful character?" I like to try and limit myself to a realistic standard, and playing a character with the ability to do anything gets boring reeeally really fast for me.

As to throwing myself into the RP goes, at this point, after the responses I've seen from Writer, I'm going to either A. Get myself killed, or B. Be forced under the yoke of another being, and quite frankly, it'd be A. Writer threatens to kill us far too often, and if I were to attack him, no matter how big of a post I type, the fact that he has my powers as well as every other creates the fact that I will inevitably lose. So, I end up refraining from RP, or getting myself killed. An impasse, I would say.

Actually, Wes' characters are always defeatable. If you have enough knowledge of the line system and enough innovation to squash his brains out, then you could do it. You just have to analyze the situation. Granted, his powers are pretty damn daunting. But really, it comes down to ability - if you think you could do it, go for it.

And it's an RP. One with magic, and a big battlewarcrapthing on the horizon. Who ISN'T going to face threat of death at some point? Not to mention the fact that idle death threats are tossed about as easily as subjects and articles these days, so ya might want to think that through before you take EVERY SINGLE THREAT entirely seriously. Sure, we could kill you. Wes could kill you. David could kill you. ANYBODY could kill you, given the opportunity. But you could also kill them if you have enough talent, so DEAL with it IF it comes up.

Additionally, facing the person who's making the rules IC has nothing to do with anything. It's an insult to the creators of the guild to bring that up as a reason you would lose, as they've made the rules explicitly clear in the index, and follow them as closely as anyone. Coming right down to it, no matter how hot-headed any of the mods may get, they've gone through great pains to make sure every system is a fair, just way to RP. And if you can't see through your current miff to see that, I really have little hope for you anyway.

This is not an impasse. This is a lack of insight and innovation. I'm not a mod. I'm not even a particularly avid RPer half the time. But seriously.

COME ON.

I'm sure great pains were to taken to try to make the systems fair, so we can't really take it at face value that they can just say they are fair. I' sure you truly believe what you say Erica, but it seems you know the crew IRL, it would seem to be quite the conflict of interest, and I'd be sort of confused if you didn't defend them. I'm just saying that I'd like a sort of second opinion, if you will, from people who aren't that close to the Crew.

As far as the defeatability of Wes' characters, my character would still die on account of the fact that Iluday does not know Khalen's weaknesses, and therefore, could easily be slaughtered by a combination of his own attacks thrown back at him with fire added, or something easy like that. This is actually more my fault, I'll agree, and I can get around that.

I also gotta say, I really disagree with the battle system, though my complaint here has its faults too. I really don't understand why the fight system should be like this, but I really must say that I don't have a better system, but surely there must be a better way. I'm sure this is just a case of too much character conflict, but everyone's just so hostile...

I really do like this roleplay, but the truth of the matter is that with the amount of rules and stuff that conflicts with me, I'm probably going to have to drop out...

Please don't. Just ignore them. It is a rather large world, and they can't be everywhere at once. As to a better battle system, use the roll dice command, to simulate differing power levels in themagic's use, and have an outsider adjucate as to how much actual information you really gave in your post. Someone with a wide vocabulary, and who really doesn't care about the outcome of the fight. I offer up the sacrifice of my character so that I might fulfill such a roll. I'd need help, though, so someone else would have to do the same.

And to the post against communism: not helping people is also wrong. Communism works in small groups, and only if you are willing to sacrifice technology and such. Personally, I support capitalism, even though I have little money, because it furthers human knowledge. But taken to the extreme, as stalinist communism was, it loses any use or goodness. Like all things, it follows the rule; "Anything, taken too far, becomes evil. Even moderation."

Alright, well, I suppose I can give my objective standpoint on current complaints.

1
I' sure you truly believe what you say Erica, but it seems you know the crew IRL, it would seem to be quite the conflict of interest, and I'd be sort of confused if you didn't defend them. I'm just saying that I'd like a sort of second opinion, if you will, from people who aren't that close to the Crew.

Please don't discredit the validity of another user's comments based on her offline relationships. Her viewpoints were objective and held truth, and whether or not she knows the MODs does not make her a lackey.

2
As far as the defeatability of Wes' characters, my character would still die on account of the fact that Iluday does not know Khalen's weaknesses, and therefore, could easily be slaughtered by a combination of his own attacks thrown back at him with fire added, or something easy like that. This is actually more my fault, I'll agree, and I can get around that

Wes, just like anybody else, can do whatever they want with their character's powers in regular posts. However, when one of their actions conflicts with another character, his actions are very limited. Khalen's powers are far-reaching, but extremely limited. His expertise is kinetics, but he has a direct connection to every molecule immediately surrounding him. This means that he can only affect every molecule surrounding him; they are his sight. Thus, if he was surrounded by a 10 acre shield that disrupted no mana within it, beyond his line of molecular sensory, he would not be aware of it. If a person maintained that shield so that he could not escape, or even shrank it until it was very compact around him, he would eventually die without the mana needed to sustain his existence. He is just as mortal as anyone else. There are millions of ways to defeat him; your only limit is your pessimism coupled with his arrogance.

I also gotta say, I really disagree with the battle system, though my complaint here has its faults too. I really don't understand why the fight system should be like this, but I really must say that I don't have a better system, but surely there must be a better way.

Let me make this simple for you. If you really, really want to win, you will win. If we had a system dedicated to dice rolls, MODs would eventually have more dice. If we had a system without limits, then a newb MOD could summon a radioactive cow from heaven to smite you at Mach 53. However with the line system, if a MOD throws a fireball at you that takes them 50 lines to write, then you can block it, no matter how you do it, with 51 lines. In this manner, no matter your rank, literacy, or reputation in the guild, you still have an equal, fair ground to meet against another character. You could throw a rock really hard at a MOD's character with 500 lines, and if they did not feel like writing that much, they would be hit. You have just as much chance as anyone else. To complain otherwise is stupidity. Even if Wes' character was God, you could still kill him with dedication and perseverence. Khalen's powers do not matter, it is Wes' inginuity and dedication to victory that you need to worry about.

I think you handled that very well, Brother. ^_^

For what it's worth, I hope you stay in the guild too Skiiy. As for my brother's other character, I think he felt like making someone that isn't dedicated to Wes...I can't blame him. blaugh
