>.< i love deh zombies........and they love me bck....just the wrong kind of way.
Here's my idea on how we get more active members and how we keep them active. I think we need a contest but not just any contest, a contest to see who gets the most posts.
First ironically we'll need active members, about 10 who are regulars, not alot but for the moment it'll work. though if we had to 5 or 6 would work
Then, we have announcement/notification sent to all members, telling them there is a contest for the most posts in a predetermined timeframe. We tell them it is only open to those with 50 + posts and they have X days to get to 50.
We set a date for it to start on and we record the post count of those with 50+ posts ( i recommend a screen shot) to use as a fair base and we take another at the end and subtract the two to see who made the most posts in the alloted time period.
the winner gets whatever prize we determine is fitting plus the gold from posting. and we can do this as often as we like and even add twists to make it more interesting.
obviously spam will not count and will be subtracted from the score.
what do you think?

That's a good idea and that's also kinda what the basis was for the UFO/Alien months. Another thing I was thinking is some kind of incentive for referring the guild to new people. Like for the introductions add a new question that says: 'if referred, please post username of person' then everyone who refers x amount of people gets a prize.

but then we'd most likely end up with a large number of people who are not very active, even with the contest. on the flip side it may grow too big to be viable if we have a massive influx of posters with posts 50 +.
before we do anything else I think we need to send out a notification to all of the members telling them to be active or be banned. we can do weed outs of those who are inactive in certain intervals such as 3 month intervals.
Hopefully that will get members active while getting rid of the one's who are not interested enough to just post every so often.
We can even have a place where people warn us that they're going on hiatus, that way we know they havent been on and ran it by us, so we dont delete them.
I think this will help us reach or even surpass the 10 regular posters needed to start and maintain the posting.
sorry for the scattered thoughts, im writing this as it comes to me

I've thought about that but, it should start small like anyone without 5 posts or more gets booted. let's face it, the main problem here is that a lot of people join guilds and then forget about them. We have the guild announcement system, but it's easy to ignore because it goes with notifications and it can be turned off. The best way to reach people is by PM, and we have over 18 pages of members so that would take FOREVER. We need a more effective communication system.

the fact that it goes with notifications is lame because I rarely check mine.
isn't everyone in the guild supposed to have added the mule? ban the people who havent, if they havent already theyre not going to.
from there we PM from the mule, though the announcements would be much easier >.<
also I think its safe to ban those who havent added the mule or havent made 5 posts.
if the have 3 or 4 we can give them a few days and if they dont get to 5 then we boot them as well.

Even with the mule you can only pm 10 people at a time. They should reinstate mass friend pms. Check your notifications.

well i havent checked but i think removing people would clear at the very least 2 pages if not much more, perhaps making that a viable option
check your notifications razz

That's a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it'll be easier to PM everyone, bad because we'll be cut in waay more than half.

well for the most part many of those members havent done anything productive with the guild or even posted. theyve contributed so little that we actually are more whole without them.

On the other hand, it could be because they just need reminding that they're even in the guild I think a good way to do it would be to actually visit their profiles and see when the last time is they've logged on. If they haven't been on at all in 2010, they're out. That's just phase one. After we PM everyone, we wait a little while. Maybe a month or so. Anyone who hasn't gotten their post count up to 5 is gone. So on and so forth. On the other hand, we can't punish the lurkers either, so we'd need to have a place for them to come and tell us that they love the guild and they do read what's posted.

well depending on how much we advertise it then the lurkers would know in advance and would likely ask to be spared on their own if they knew we would be willing to spare them.
if they forgot they are in this guild then they don't love it the way we need our members to.
I say we dont add any new members and then wait a week. at the end of the week we remove those who are below 5 posts and reopen the guild to new members.
ooc is this guild open or does it require the approval of the crew when it comes to accepting new members?

That might be good, but we'd need to extend it for longer than a week because people do have real lives, so they might not be able to get on gaia all the time to post. And there are a few guilds I forgot about when I first joined them, that I got reminded of and then became a regular.
Yeah, needs approval.
