I've been wonderring about upper rank monsters that you just don't see much. The ones with no fame
UN-like* the classic vampire or greater golem.
I wanted to learn more about the threat they pose but I can't find any names for them (which makes them difficult to research.) Have we not named them or are these just very obscure and or rare? (or do they actually have names, if so please list a few.)
*friggin typos that reverse meaning
I assume you mean like, stronger-ish demons?
Well, you see these guys are slippery, you see you don't get to be the strongest, or the most dangerous elements in a group by accident. These critters are smart, deadly, and down right reclusive. They have the good sense not to allow themselves to become too terrible vulnerable, ever. They do what they think they need doing most usually with either very, very skillful, quiet personal attention, or through the use of underling-goons.
Or an interesting blend of the two. The good approach is actually very popular, as it saves a lot of energy and it's much less dangerous for the leader personally. Because no matter how skilled you are, every once in a while some bone head-rent a cop will get off a lucky shot and injure you. It's sort of embarassing, but it happens from time to time.
But at the same time, frequently goons will switch sides on you (especially female henchmen when they meet the dashing and heroic um... hero, or mercenaries), or these goons are just plain too dumb to live. You see you need dumb henchmen, because otherwise they might try to overthrough you and take over your carefully built syndicate...
anyway that's a whole other topic.
point is, there ARE some pretty powerful master monsters out there still, not as many as there used to be for sure, but a few. And these guys, unlike the Satan, aren't usually prima donnas. They might be vain, but they have enough sense to stay out of the lime light almost all together.
